Chu Yu looked up at the sky speechlessly. Shen Zhuyu was really outspoken. Dai Donglin's nose wasn't anything special. It was just a little high, a little narrow, and had a little smooth lines.
How exactly did Chen Zhuyu figure it out?
Thanks to her, Chu Yu had a nightmare all night. One dream was that she tied up Dai Donglin to see if he was good enough; another dream was that her college roommates from her previous life were watching erotic movies together; and yet another dream was that she was dragged to the bottom of the sea by an octopus.
Half-asleep, Chu Yu was jolted awake. When she opened her eyes, she saw Shen Zhuyu hugging her leg and giggling.
Wake up!
"What's wrong! What's wrong!" Shen Zhuyu jumped up, looking completely dazed from sleep.
"We've arrived at the station."
Before dawn, an announcement came over the loudspeaker that the train had arrived. The two quickly put on their shoes, found their luggage, and walked out of the Vancouver train station. A group of people surrounded them.
"Want a ride in a tricycle? It'll cost 50 cents to the market!"
Let's go!
It was the first time Chen Zhuyu had ever ridden in a tricycle, and she felt particularly embarrassed that she had paid someone to take her.
Chu Yu was quite frank. If the driver didn't ride, he wouldn't have any income. As the saying goes, "If you cut off someone's livelihood, you'll be struck by lightning." Which driver would want to endure such untimely sympathy from customers? Earning money is hard work for a while, but not earning money is hard work for a lifetime. He makes a living by selling his labor, and his strength is the commodity he sells. Only riding in a car can truly help him.
The train arrived half an hour later than last time, by which time the market had already opened.
As the seasons change, summer clothing at the wholesale market is coming to an end, and vendors are releasing their inventory. Buyers are seizing the opportunity to purchase cheap clothing for promotional activities.
Clothing profits are low at the end of the season, but prices are also low, so there are always people with tight budgets willing to buy. Students also start school at the end of August, so parents are willing to buy some new clothes for their children at this time.
People crowded the stalls, big and small, to pick up goods.
Mr. Chen's stall was still deserted.
When Chu Yu arrived, Boss Chen was stunned for a moment. He had a deep impression of this girl. She was exceptionally composed on her first visit, taking her time to observe and assess her, just like a seasoned expert in the jade market.
A high-end pleated skirt that costs a dozen yuan or so can only be sold in women's stores in Shanghai. When Boss Chen wholesaled it to her, he knew that it was a good product, but ordinary people could not sell it for a good price.
It's wishful thinking for street vendors to sell items at department store prices or to sell styles that are popular with locals.
But who would turn down money? As the stall owner, Mr. Chen couldn't possibly remind her.
Whether you can sell your clothes or not depends entirely on your skills. Even though they are all in the clothing business, some people can earn more than 100,000 yuan a year, while others lose money every year.
If this girl can't make a living in this industry, she won't come to buy goods next time. Boss Chen thought it was probably just a one-time encounter. Who would have thought that two days later he would receive a telegram from Chu Yu asking him to restock.
I brought over a hundred dresses, and it hasn't been that long! The girl is back again!
How good must the business be to have this kind of confidence!
Mr. Chen dared not neglect this lucky man, and said with a smile, "What a rare guest! I was afraid you wouldn't come."
Chu Yu smiled, her gaze lingering on his stall. Boss Chen was also having a clearance sale on summer clothes. However, discounts at high-end stalls are like bathing a whale in a bathtub. Whether the buyer or the seller actually got a good deal is unclear.
"Mr. Chen, have you received the payment for the goods?"
Mentioning money made Mr. Chen even happier. "I received it! Thank you for supporting my business. I've already made samples of my new autumn/winter collection, but I haven't shown them to anyone else yet. You're the first person to see the samples!"
Mr. Chen wasn't lying. He only sells sweaters and coats for autumn. He has more styles of winter clothes, but he usually brings out the winter clothes to sell after the autumn clothes are on the market.
This batch of goods was created by drawing inspiration from popular products in Hong Kong and France, and modifications were made when it was introduced.
“Look at this one, a red plaid trench coat with a large lapel,” Mr. Chen said, handing over a fashion magazine. “It’s a modified version based on a fashion magazine from Hong Kong. The original was too thin. Our country is vast and diverse, with a wide range of seasons. I considered that people in the north like to wear long trench coats, so I changed it to wool fabric. I specially sourced this imported wool, which is even better than snowflake wool! I also made modifications to the collar and shoulders. The original made the shoulders look broad. This model must weigh no more than 85 pounds, right? She looked like a scarecrow. My modifications make it much more elegant, and it’s more acceptable to Chinese people.”
Mr. Chen took the pattern and, seemingly in an effort to gain Chu Yu's approval, kept urging her to try it on.
"Try it on and see how it fits. If it's good, then you can order more. If it's not, then just walk away. I'll take this opportunity to see how the clothes look on people."
Mr. Chen was unaware that after the clothes were made, he could find several fitting models to try them on.
Chu Yu also wanted to try on the style. Clothes at the market are not allowed to be tried on, but how can you know how your clothes will look if you don't try them on? No amount of hype can compare to trying them on.
Chu Yu unbuttoned her coat and put it on. It was still dark, and the sea breeze from Wenzhou was blowing gently. Chu Yu had been feeling a bit chilly, but after putting on the coat, she felt incredibly hot.
"How is it? This material is comfortable and warm; it won't make you cold even in the north!"
Chu Yu looked in the mirror at Boss Chen's house. The red color made her skin look supple and radiant, like ice and jade. Originally, she had a somewhat aloof air, but this dress amplified her charming temperament. The waist-cinching design made her look exceptionally perfect from head to toe.
"You're so beautiful!"
Shen Zhuyu's eyes nearly popped out of her head. She knew Chu Yu was beautiful; anyone with eyes could see that. Chu Yu usually dressed very simply and without any makeup, her beauty resembling a lotus emerging from the water. Shen Zhuyu had thought that Chu Yu was most beautiful in that state, but who would have thought that with just a little makeup, she would be so stunning?
