Chapter 358 Luo Kangcheng's Ex-Wife

Shu Hui's pancakes have a crispy outer crust, but the inside is soft and moist. They are very springy when you squeeze them, and they are especially chewy.

Grandpa Luo and Grandma Zeng were both very happy.

Chu Yu looked around. Although the Luo family's house wasn't large, in the housing shortage of the 1980s, owning a two-bedroom apartment in Beijing was considered quite a good deal.

Moreover, since the company provides housing collectively, there are basically no personal expenses. If this area is demolished in the future, at least we can get a larger apartment in Beijing.

That's why people in big cities are so numerous. Many of them don't do anything special and just live ordinary lives. But because they live in big cities, they have more opportunities and chances than people in small towns, and it's easier for them to achieve a qualitative leap.

After Grandpa Luo ate the pancakes, he asked Grandma Zeng to kill a chicken and buy fish to entertain the guests.

"There's a place over here that sells Inner Mongolian lamb. The lamb is especially delicious. Your Aunt Zeng's braised lamb is a specialty. You must try it later."

Aunt Zeng was about to go out to buy groceries with her small wallet when there was a knock on the door.

Aunt Zeng opened the door and was startled by the woman standing outside. She quickly realized what was happening and asked, "Wenlan? What are you doing here? Where's Luo Bin?"

Luo Bin is the grandson of Old Master Luo and the son of Luo Kangcheng.

Wu Wenlan is Mr. Luo's former daughter-in-law.

When his son suffered a misfortune and became a vegetable, his former daughter-in-law thought he would never wake up, so she took all of Luo Kangcheng's valuables and took her son back to her parents' home.

Grandpa Luo thought to himself, "Let them take their things. They're all his grandsons anyway, so there's nothing I'd be reluctant to leave them for him." Even though Luo Kangcheng's medical expenses were tight at the time, Grandpa Luo never blamed Wu Wenlan. He simply said that it's only natural for couples to abandon each other in times of trouble, and he couldn't blame her.

However, the daughter-in-law soon remarried her classmate.

Old Master Luo once brought gifts to visit Luo Bin, but Wu Wenlan rejected them all, fearing that Old Master Luo and Luo Bin would rekindle their relationship, which, given the Luo family's situation at the time, would most likely be a burden.

Wu Wenlan wouldn't allow him to see her, so Old Master Luo could only leave his things behind and tell his daughter-in-law to treat Luo Bin well. He never dared to hope to see his grandson.

Over the years, Grandpa Luo had become accustomed to giving his all. He knew that Luo Bin had grown into a young man, but hadn't gone to university and had become a factory worker. He didn't have any expectations for his grandson; he just hoped that his grandson would be healthy and not suffer a misfortune at such a young age like Luo Kangcheng.

While taking care of his son, Grandpa Luo also sent clothes, food, and money to his grandson. If Grandpa Luo didn't give money, Wu Wenlan wouldn't even let him get close to her.

Just when everyone thought the matter was over, Wu Wenlan suddenly showed up at their door, and she was even from Beijing.

How could Grandma Great not be surprised!

After entering the house, Wu Wenlan looked around the two-bedroom apartment, examining it inside and out, before finally focusing her gaze on Shu Hui and Chu Yu.

Wu Wenlan frowned, her tone anything but friendly, "Is this Luo Kangcheng's new wife?"

Grandpa Luo was the first to react, and said with a stern face, "Shu Hui is a benefactor of our Luo family. If it weren't for Shu Hui taking care of Kang Cheng, he wouldn't have woken up. How did you end up in Beijing? Who gave you the address?"

Chu Yu looked Wu Wenlan up and down. Wu Wenlan was not short, but tall and slender. Even in later generations, she would be considered an intellectual woman.

She has a refined air about her, but her speech and mannerisms carry a calculating quality—a kind of intellectual calculation, distinct from the mercenary nature of rural people, yet equally unlikable.

Wu Wenlan pondered Old Master Luo's words, glanced at Shu Hui and Chu Yu, and her expression was slightly displeased.

When Shu Hui lived in the countryside, she did laundry and farmed, spending all her time on farm work and housework. Her skin became sallow from the sun, and she developed wrinkles around her eyes, making her far from beautiful.

Later, Shu Hui went to Deyang to sell roujiamo (Chinese hamburger). Although the work was hard, at least she wasn't exposed to the sun. Later, she went to Beijing and changed careers to work in fast food. She stayed indoors all day and rarely went out to work in the sun.

After keeping it hidden for two or three years, Chu Yu brought her several sets of high-end anti-wrinkle skincare products from the port city.

Shu Hui had never used good skincare products before, so functional skincare products worked particularly well for her. After using them for more than half a year, her skin became fair and delicate, her wrinkles became less noticeable, and her facial features became more sophisticated.

Furthermore, Chu Yu acted as her strategist, offering advice on clothing and grooming, and even helped her get her hair permed.

Although Shu Hui, who is in her forties, is not particularly beautiful, she is far better than her peers. Even standing next to Wu Wenlan, who has never suffered any hardship, she is in no way inferior.

Although Wu Wenlan is intellectual, Shu Hui's gentle and graceful nature is also very attractive. A woman's happiness will show on her face, and Shu Hui looks like the kind of person who is well-off and pampered by those around her.

Not long after Luo Kangcheng became a vegetable, Wu Wenlan contacted her old classmate who was now the deputy factory director. After the two got together, she asked her old classmate to go home and get a divorce so that she could take the child and live with the deputy factory director.

She herself had been married for a long time, but she couldn't stand that Luo Kangcheng had a woman, and she didn't want Luo Kangcheng's woman to be better than her.

Wu Wenlan stared at Shu Hui with a scrutinizing gaze, and her jealousy reached its peak when she saw the designer handbag, pearl necklace and earrings in Shu Hui's hand.

What did she say? Luo Kangcheng was transferred to Beijing as the municipal government director; he must have made a fortune.

What does it mean to be the head of a district public security bureau in Beijing? If Luo Kangcheng becomes the head of a bureau in Beijing in the future, he'll have everything he wants! If Wu Wenlan had known he could wake up, she would never have married anyone else.

Isn't it good to be Luo Kangcheng's wife? Although Luo Kangcheng is busy with work and not exactly romantic towards his wife, he still takes good care of her. During the years Wu Wenlan was married to Luo Kangcheng, she never suffered any hardship. After Luo Kangcheng became the bureau chief, Wu Wenlan became an official's wife and could practically do whatever she wanted in Deyang.
