Chapter 56 Scarlett, I Believe in You
The asylum is about to release poison gas.
Scarlett took Duke to the car and gave him three minutes to think.
Three minutes passed.
The fireball in Chiye's hand burned the edge of his cheek, and his tone was threatening: "It doesn't matter if you don't say it, I'll let you feel the temperature. Next time, this fireball will hit your mistress directly in the face."
Duke's eyes flashed with horror, and his stubborn mouth finally relaxed. "No, I say."
Duke took a deep breath, his scarred face engulfed in despair. Even the bloodstains could not hide the paleness on his face.
"Three months ago, my sister was murdered by your superiors. She died in a horrible way. Not even a complete body was left. It was dumped on the side of the road, left for stray dogs and cats to gnaw on. When I found her, only bones remained of her, curled up in a corner, like garbage."
"At that time, I swore that I would avenge my sister."
"That's why I hate people like you. If I see anyone, I want to kill them immediately to avenge my sister!"
Duke said it, but not all of it. He took the responsibility on himself and eliminated the real protagonist in the words.
"How do you know we are from above?"
Scarlett was a little frightened by his description and paused for a few seconds before continuing to ask.
Duke glanced at her, then looked at the others, and said coldly, "Your abilities are so strong that it's obvious at a glance that you don't belong in this leveling area. People in our world have limited resources and limited development. It's impossible for someone of the same age to reach such abilities. There's no other explanation except that you're from the world above."
Duke's words are full of loopholes, and you can find several major problems without even thinking about it.
Scarlett didn't intend to expose him, she wanted to continue listening to his other answers before deciding whether to get rid of this person.
"Does this mean that you will kill anyone you see above without mercy?"
"right!"
"How many did you kill?"
"You are the first one, and you haven't killed him yet."
Scarlett: “…”
They were lucky then.
Scarlett paused. "Your actions are the indiscriminate killing of innocent people. They are no different from the people who killed your sister. The real revenge is to find the enemy and kill him."
Duke's eyes hardened, and his tone became angry: "Can't find it, can't kill it."
"Why?"
"I can't go up."
There are heavy electric fences between the sky and the ground, and civilians cannot go up, let alone take revenge.
Scarlett suddenly felt a little sympathy for Duke.
This feeling of knowing where the enemy is but never being able to reach him is indeed painful.
It is understandable that people lose their minds when they are in a hurry.
But he shouldn't have implicated innocent people.
She asked Duke, "Do you know who your enemy is?"
"Know."
"Who is it?"
Duke opened his mouth but didn't say anything. He suddenly looked at Scarlett with vigilance, "Why, do you want to tell on me?"
Scarlett smiled and said, "Snitching? Not necessarily. If I wanted to kill you, I would just kill you. Why would I bother with the hassle of snitching?"
Duke sneered twice: "That's not necessarily true. If you knew who she was, you would definitely think that informing on her would be more valuable than killing me directly."
After Duke said this, Scarlett became a little interested. She felt that the person he was talking about was a big shot and could get a lot of benefits.
He laughed darkly twice, then his expression suddenly changed. He pulled out a gun from the space and pressed it against Duke's jaw. He narrowed his eyes, his gaze as dangerous as a venomous snake. "Just tell me what I want you to say. Why are you talking so much nonsense? If you don't, I'll cause trouble for your mistress. I'm the one above me! Killing her won't be difficult at all."
"No, no, no, I say!"
When Duke heard that Shirley was going to be killed, he became anxious instantly. He dared not hide it anymore and blurted out the name of his enemy.
"Scarlett!"
"My enemy is Scarlett!"
Inside the carriage, three pairs of eyes suddenly turned to look at Scarlett.
Scarlett was startled, but quickly came to her senses. "No, I, she killed your sister? That's impossible. She is a princess of the empire. How could she kill someone so easily?"
Scarlett felt extremely guilty when she said this.
But he only felt guilty for a second before straightening his back.
She understood the original owner's memories.
She is good at fighting, swearing and brawling.
kill.
She really hadn't touched it.
The only life that was lost might be Bessie's brother.
Where did this debt come from? She had no idea at all.
Seeing Scarlett defending that vicious woman, Duke couldn't help but sneer, even though he was worried about implicating Shirley. "She's the princess of the empire, so what? She's a jealous, vicious woman. My sister came into contact with her beastly husband for work, and someone took a picture of her, and she ordered her to be executed!"
"A mere fabricated photo caused my sister's death! This evil woman is unfit to be a princess of the empire! With her, the empire will fall sooner or later!"
"Shut up!"
As a starship commander, Holst takes it as his duty to protect the Empire.
When someone said something rude, his gray pupils narrowed and he snorted.
The moment the words came out, a black energy was released and directly wrapped around Duke's neck.
Duke suddenly had difficulty breathing, his cheeks turned red, he couldn't utter any words of pain, and struggled desperately.
"Stop! Who allowed you to touch him?"
Scarlett saw Holst's intention and stopped him immediately.
Holst's eyebrows twitched, and he glanced at Scarlett sinisterly, remaining unmoved.
"I order you not to touch him, let go!"
Scarlett shouted again, her voice rising higher and higher, the sharp ending echoing back and forth in the car, enough to show how angry she was now.
Get angry at him for someone else's beastly husband?
Holst stared at Scarlett coldly, his smoky-gray pupils were like glaciers that had been frozen for years, so cold that it made people tremble.
Suddenly.
He pulled the corners of his mouth into a smile.
As the black energy dissipated, Duke fell back into his seat.
He coughed a few times, his voice dry and hoarse. "You can kill me if you want, but don't implicate my mistress. She knows nothing. I did everything."
Duke knew that he was going to die, so he didn't struggle and used his last bit of strength to distance himself from Shirley.
Female, bestial husband, and groundless photos.
Scarlett knew who Duke was talking about. She looked at Duke and asked, "Is your sister a researcher at the 403 Pharmacy Research Institute?"
Duke nodded, "Yes."
"What's your name?"
"Christine."
"Okay, I understand. Go ahead."
Scarlett asked Chiye to open the car door and let Duke go.
Duke stared at the open car door, stunned for a moment, "You, won't kill me?"
Scarlett looked at him quietly, a cold light flashing in her gentle eyes, "If you lie, I will definitely kill you."
…
…
After the third round of poison gas release, today's poison gas release is completed.
They can stay overnight at the shelter until eight o'clock the next day.
This time the shelter is located in the suburbs, a simple wooden house, backed by mountains and facing a lake that stretches to the horizon. It is surrounded by lush greenery and a faint fragrance.
Under the moonlight, it looks extremely peaceful and beautiful.
Scarlett was not in a very good mood.
She was worried that Christine's death was caused by the indirect actions of the original owner, just like Bessie's brother.
If that's the case, she is indeed guilty.
However, Scarlett could not find the answer after searching through her memory all night.
The original owner went to the research institute and only attacked her beastly husband, without harming anyone else.
Scarlett sat in the room, looking at the moon outside the window. The night was long, and her silence was also long.
Sevilla, who was forced to deal with the poisoned corpse, washed his hands, knocked on the door and walked in, looking at the moon outside the window with her.
After a moment of silence.
He said in a very normal tone: "Scarlett, I believe you."
Chi Ye leaned against the door, crossed his arms, and smiled nonchalantly, "I believe you too."
