Chapter 59

Chapter 59

Half an hour later, Si Wan returned to the ward. Yu Jinnian followed shortly afterward, saying, "Eat something."

Si Wan was lying on the bed, lost in thought, but Yu Jinnian had no idea that Si Wan had been out, let alone that she was thinking about something.

I also think she is quite 'well behaved'.

A kiss on the cheek finally got Si Wan to respond. Seeing him pause for a moment, she asked, "Isn't Yuewei Restaurant closed at this hour?"

“You can eat it anytime you like.”

Si Wan curled her lips in understanding. No wonder everyone wanted to be an evil capitalist.

After the drip was finished at the hospital, Si Wan insisted on going back home, and Yu Jinnian let her go. When they returned to Jin Garden, the sky was already blue.

When Si Wan woke up, she found that Yu Jinnian had disappeared.

I went downstairs to the restaurant and learned from Aunt Fen that he had gone to the company without sleeping all night.

Speaking objectively, Si Wan still admires Yu Jinnian's professionalism.

"Miss Si, Mr. Si specifically told you that you have a weak stomach, so today we're making something that warms your stomach and softens your mouth."

Si Wan smiled warmly: "Thank you."

The rice porridge went down my throat, warming my cold stomach. Unfortunately, before I had even taken a few bites, my phone rang.

"Wanbao! Save me! Ah——"

Wu Nan's cries were heart-wrenching.

"Wu Nan?" Si Wan frowned immediately.

"It's me, woo woo—come and save me, Wanbao!"

Si Wan narrowed her eyes: "Where are you?"

However, the voice that came from the receiver was no longer Wu Nan's.

"If you want to save her, come to the abandoned pharmaceutical factory." The voice, altered by a voice changer, made it impossible to tell whether it was male or female. It had a robotic tone.

"Listen, I don't care who you are. If you dare to touch a hair on her head, I will kill you." Si Wan quickly left the dining table and returned to the room.

I changed my clothes and went out with my car keys.

The rusty iron door cracked open with the sound of shoes rolling over gravel, and Si Wan walked in against the wall with the hilt of the sword in her hand.

The draft carried the bitter taste of expired pills into her collar as she surveyed the outline of the three-story factory building.

The glass curtain wall had long been shattered, hanging jaggedly on the frame like broken ribs.

"The second laboratory from the left on the third floor." Suddenly a mechanical voice came.

The voice was hoarse and strange, and the tail end was torn into pieces by the whistle of the ferry in the distance.

Si Wan didn't respond, but moved her ears to try to determine the direction of the sound.

The heels of his boots rolled over the piles of medicine packaging on the ground.

"This place was closed down fifteen years ago for illegally producing Class C hormone drugs." The mechanical voice spoke again.

At this moment, the infusion tube hanging from the ceiling of the corridor was dripping unknown liquid, forming a dark brown puddle on the ground.

The sound of footsteps around the corner came without warning. Si Wan pressed herself against the moldy wall and suddenly held her breath.

I saw a man in work clothes dragging a rubber water pipe towards me, and the dagger on his waist flashed coldly in the night.

She waited for him to pass the third shelf, then suddenly turned around and grabbed the back of his neck. She pressed her knee against his knee while covering his mouth with her other hand, her knuckles pressing precisely on the carotid sinus.

The man collapsed to the ground without even a groan.

"Waste." The mechanical voice said angrily.

"Where is Wu Nan? Come out if you have the guts. What's the point of playing tricks?" Si Wan didn't stop.

The emergency light in the stairwell suddenly lit up when she stepped onto the second floor, and fine dust floated in the red halo.

Si Wan's trouser legs swept across the ampoule fragments piled in the corner of the wall. Suddenly, she heard the crisp sound of glassware breaking above her head, followed by a suppressed cry of pain.

——It’s Wu Nan’s voice.

With a sound like her throat was being strangled, her pupils suddenly contracted, and she no longer hid the sound of her footsteps, and directly jumped onto the third floor platform by stepping on the handrail.

The tempered glass door of the laboratory had cracked into a spider web shape. The moment Si Wan kicked the door open, the alcohol lamp on the antiseptic wooden table was overturned by the airflow, and the flames jumped onto the hanging experimental record paper.

Wu Nan was tied with his hands behind his back on the rusty operating table, with a large bloodstain on the left shoulder of his white shirt.

The bandage wrapped around her ankle was dripping with blood—but her eyes were still bright. The moment she saw Si Wan, she burst into tears: "Wanbao, you came to save me!"

Next to Wu Nan was a metal cart with seven or eight reagent bottles labeled "WY-09" on it.

She rushed to the operating table and cut the rope with a dagger. At the same time, she heard the sound of a zipper behind her. Someone was sticking half of his body out of the ventilation duct, with smoke coming out of the muzzle of the Glock 17 in his hand.

"Wanbao, be careful!"

When the first bullet grazed Si Wan's hair, she had already dragged Wu Nan to the other side of the laboratory table.

Wu Nan stumbled and knocked over the beaker on the iron rack. Si Wan took the opportunity to swing out the dagger, and the blade directly pierced the other's wrist holding the gun.

The man fell down cursing. She didn't look at the fallen man. She turned around, ripped off her white coat, and pressed it against the wound on Wu Nan's shoulder. "Do you know who did this?"

"I don't know." Wu Nan suddenly stared at the drain behind her, his pupils suddenly contracting. "They put... Si Wan, look up!"

Suddenly, there was a dense scratching sound coming from the ventilation duct on the ceiling, like countless claws scratching on the iron sheet.

Si Wan dragged Wu Nan towards the broken glass door. The moment they fell out of the laboratory, the entire wall of reagent cabinets collapsed.

The burning document paper ignited the leaked organic solvent, and the blue flames shot up to the ceiling with a "boom", forcing back the black shadow that was about to pounce down from the ventilation duct.

"Wanbao, call Mr. Yu quickly. You can't beat them. There are so many of them."

Wu Nan leaned against the wall and tore off the bandage on her ankle. The skin at the wound was swelling and reddening at a speed visible to the naked eye: "I saw them injecting it into the mice... cough!" She suddenly coughed violently.

Only then did Si Wan realize that the smoke escaping from the laboratory contained fine golden powder, which was shaken off from the burning documents.

"Hold your breath!" Si Wan covered her mouth and nose. A loud noise of an iron door being knocked open came from the distance, and more footsteps were approaching the third floor.

She helped Wu Nan stand up with difficulty: "You should lose weight."

Wu Nan: "As long as you can get out alive, I will give you a discount."

My eyes swept across the fire escape at the end of the corridor, and I suddenly heard Wu Nan whisper in my ear: "The second locker on the left has their hidden nitroglycerin in it."

Amid the sound of shattering glass, the moment Si Wan kicked open the locker, an experimental subject suddenly jumped out from the sea of fire.

She threw the entire bottle of nitroglycerin at the other person, and the dagger cut through the bottle. The orange gas wave exploded in the small space, overturning the twisted black shadow into the pile of burning documents.

Wu Nan took the opportunity to push open the door of the fire escape, and the humid night wind filled with the fishy smell of river water rushed in.

In the abandoned parking lot downstairs, Si Wan's car was flashing its lights.

"Wanbao, are you okay?" Wu Nan's eyes were fixed and starting to blur.

Si didn't turn around, his voice echoing in the corridor: "It's okay."

She grabbed Wu Nan's wrist and ran down: "Don't look back, go drive my car and find someone to help you."

Mechanical voice: "Go to hell!"
