Chapter 36 Are You Scared?

A Ruan was blocked by Wei Min in the innermost part of the cabinet. She couldn't see anything outside, but could hear some noises. She was so scared that she almost held her breath and dared not move.

Wei Min saw with his own eyes a dark shadow flash past the window, and then the bolt of the main door was pried open. Then, there were very light footsteps approaching the inner room.

With a slight "creak" sound, the door to the inner room was pushed open.

Wei Min saw through the gap in the cabinet, with the help of the moonlight outside the window, a woman in black, holding a knife in her hand, tiptoeing in and heading straight for the bed.

In the darkness of the night, the sharp blade flashed with an icy luster under the moonlight. The dazzling cold light made people feel a chill in their hearts just by looking at it.

Wei Min protected A'ruan behind him with one hand and held the stool he had picked up in the other hand. He held his breath and waited for the woman to find out that the person lying in the quilt was not them before searching.

The man didn't even open the curtain. He aimed at the two blurry "human" figures lying on the bed, raised the hilt of the knife high, and then stabbed the one on the outside fiercely.

The expected scene of blood splattering on the bed curtains did not happen. The intruder used such great force that the blade pierced through the quilt and inserted into the wooden board of the bed.

The woman pulled out the knife with all her strength and tore open the curtain, only then did she realize that she had been tricked.

She then took a step back, half-knelt on the ground vigilantly, and stabbed under the bed with the handle of the knife.

The gatekeeper clearly didn't see anyone coming out, so the couple must be hiding somewhere in the house.

She sneered, "You're still playing hide-and-seek with me before you die? Do you think I'm patient?"

The woman's eyes were like an eagle, sharply scanning all the places in the house where people could hide, and finally stopped at the most conspicuous cabinet beside the bed. She stared straight at the cabinet doors, slowly raised the knife in her hand, and said in a slow voice: "If grandma finds you, don't expect to have an intact body!"

Although Wei Min was not a weak scholar who could not even tie a chicken, he was no match for this man who was obviously a martial artist.

She originally just wanted to buy time and wait for the secret guards sent by Jiang Wuque to come, but given the current situation, it would be better for her to save herself than to wait for someone to rescue her.

Outside the closet were people who wanted to kill her, and behind her inside the closet was A-Ruan, who relied on her for protection...

Before the woman raised her knife to chop at the cabinet, Wei Min pushed open the cabinet door without any hesitation, came out, raised his hand and smashed the stool he had been holding towards the woman's head, and casually closed half of the cabinet door to cover A Ruan who was still hiding inside.

From pushing open the cabinet door, to lifting the stool to hit the person, to closing half of the cabinet door, all of Wei Min's movements were done in one go and were so natural and smooth that people didn't even notice her final movement of closing the door, and they also forgot for a moment that there might be another person in the cabinet.

Wei Min now felt somewhat relieved that Ah Ruan couldn't speak, otherwise, if she encountered such a scene, she would definitely be frightened and scream.

The woman did not expect Wei Min to attack her actively. When she saw the stool coming towards her head, she subconsciously swung her knife to block it.

Wei Min took advantage of this opportunity, picked up the vase next to the cabinet and threw it at the woman.

Almost all the usable tables, chairs, benches, vases and teacups in the room were used by Wei Min to prevent the woman from engaging in close combat with her.

After throwing the last chair, the woman slowly clenched the knife handle with her ten fingers, turned her neck twice, making a crisp sound of bones "crackling", and sneered at Wei Min, "Keep smashing."

Wei Min stood as close to the door as possible, pretending to run away, in an attempt to lead her to the main room.

The woman saw it but didn't stop her. She glanced at the cabinet and said, "I almost fell for your trick. You can't be the only one in the room, right? I've been here for so long, why haven't I seen your husband?"

The woman moved her feet, but not towards Wei Min, but towards the closet. Ignoring Wei Min's sudden change of expression, she said with interest, "Let me guess, is he hiding in here?"

As he spoke, he raised his hand, and the tip of the knife, which was shining coldly, was pointing at the half-open cabinet.

A Ruan hid in the corner of the cabinet, his lips and calves trembling. When he heard the crackling sound outside, he was so scared that he closed his eyes tightly and subconsciously covered his mouth with his hands, fearing that he would make any sound and waste his wife's hard work.

Slowly, after the sound stopped, A Ruan heard that the woman seemed to have discovered his location and was walking towards the cabinet step by step.

A Ruan's heart instantly rose to his throat and he even held his breath.

When he squatted down with his head in his hands, thinking that he could not escape, he heard something fall to the ground in the room separated by a door, followed by a barely audible groan from Wei Min.

A Ruan's face turned pale instantly, and he felt that all the blood flowing in his body froze at this groan. He felt cold all over and couldn't breathe.

——Wife, wife master!

A Ruan climbed out of the closet, not caring about his own life, and looked frantically for Wei Min's figure in the darkness. Tears welled up in his eyes, but he tried hard to keep his eyes open.

Wei Min was actually not there, he was just in the shadow beside the cabinet that was not illuminated by the moonlight.

When she saw the woman raising a knife towards the cabinet, she immediately jumped over.

The woman seemed to be waiting for her to come over, and when Wei Min hugged her and fell to the ground, she took the initiative and used her as a cushion. At the same time, she took out a dagger from her short boots and stabbed it at the arm that held her while she was holding him.

The back of Wei Min's head hit the ground, and he groaned in pain from the sudden knife attack on his arm.

The woman took the opportunity to break free from Wei Min's restraints, half-knelt on the ground, raised her hand and stabbed her hard in the chest.

However, faster than her, Wei Min stabbed her chest with the broken vase.

When Wei Min fell to the ground, his palm pressed on something sharp and was instantly cut and bled.

She immediately guessed that it might be a fragment of something, and she didn't care about the pain in her hand. Instead, she clenched the fragment tightly. When the woman was facing her and was about to kill her, she inserted the fragment steadily and accurately into her chest.

The dagger in the woman's hand immediately fell to the ground with a bang. She opened her eyes wide and looked down at her chest in disbelief, and then her body fell limply to the side.

Just in case, Wei Min reached out and touched the dagger that the woman had dropped on the ground, and stabbed her in the chest again. After making sure that she was indeed dead, he breathed a sigh of relief and whispered, "A Ruan?"

A Ruan climbed out of the cabinet and just stood up when he heard Wei Min's voice. He immediately turned around and went to look for him beside the cabinet.

The room was littered with broken vases and teacups. Wei Min was afraid that Ah Ruan might accidentally step on or touch one of them, so he reminded her, "Come slowly, don't fall."

There was no light there, and A Ruan couldn't see clearly under his feet. He could only hear Wei Min's voice just a few steps away from him. He walked over carefully, afraid of kicking Wei Min.

Even so, he stepped on an arm, causing it to almost jump up in fright.

Wei Min had already seen him, and quickly grabbed A'ruan's wrist with his uninjured hand, whispering soothingly, "Don't be afraid, A'ruan, that wasn't me, you didn't step on me."

A Ruan knelt in front of her under Wei Min's force and reached out to touch her body, trying to check if she was hurt anywhere.

Wei Min felt that A Ruan's fingers were cold and his whole body was trembling, so he hugged him in his arms, put his arm around his shoulders, lowered his head and kissed his forehead soothingly, and said softly: "Don't be afraid, it's okay now."

Wei Min felt that her arm seemed to have lost too much blood and was numb. She could no longer feel the pain. She raised her hand and patted A Ruan on the back, saying, "A Ruan, go light the oil lamp."

Since such a big commotion in the room just now didn't attract anyone else, it was obvious that the postmaster and the others were stopped outside by people sent by Jiang Wuque.

Ah Ruan nodded, groped for the candlestick in the dark, and lit the oil lamp with trembling hands.

The dim light flickered for a moment, and finally became brighter, illuminating the room.

Only then did Aruan realize that his body and hands were stained with blood at some point.

His heart suddenly sank and he hurried to see Wei Min.

Wei Min had already stood up with the help of the cabinet. He looked up and saw A Ruan's pale face under the light. He immediately spoke to comfort her, "I'm not hurt anywhere. I just got my arms and hands scratched."

Perhaps because she was too frightened tonight, A'ruan felt a sense of comfort when she heard that Wei Min was not seriously injured.

He helped Wei Min sit at the head of the bed, then quickly turned around to look through the medicine box in his luggage.

The wound on Wei Min's arm was not very serious, but he bled a lot. However, there were multiple wounds on the palm of his right hand, two of which were very deep due to the sharp cuts of the fragments.

Seeing A'ruan staring at his hands, Wei Min explained calmly, "If I don't use force, I may not be able to kill her."

Wei Min had never killed anyone before, and today was the first time his hands were stained with blood, but he didn't have time to be afraid or think too much. Because if she didn't die, it would be herself and A'ruan who would die!

Wei Min lowered his head and looked at A Ruan who was kneeling on one knee beside his leg to bandage her. He touched his face with his clean hand and asked him softly, "A Ruan, are you scared?"

——Scared, scared to death.

The tears that Ah Ruan had been holding back finally flowed out at this moment. He looked up at Wei Min with tears in his eyes and raised his hand and said:

——I was so worried that something might happen to you in the closet. What should I do if something happened to you?

After A Ruan finished the demonstration, she raised her hands and hugged Wei Min's waist, squeezed her body between her legs, and started crying in fear.

Wei Min finally breathed a sigh of relief. He raised his hand and stroked A'ruan's head, lowering his eyes and saying, "I am your sky and the shield that stands in front of you. How could anything happen to me? Don't be afraid. It's all over."

Just when A Ruan stopped crying and was about to go out with Wei Min to see the current situation outside, she saw someone stepping into the door of the inner room again.

The newcomer was also dressed in black, but he took off the black scarf on his face first, smiled with dimples and tiger teeth, looked at Wei Min, and asked, "We meet again. Does your husband like the cakes I picked for you?"

The author has something to say: Small theater

Rescue: I’m here, I’m here, where’s the killer? (Looking around)

Wei Min: →_→You are late (referring to the corpse)

A Ruan: Turn left and leave without seeing you off

Rescue: Where is the welcome you said to be? QAQ

Just a reminder, this one sent by Lao Ba has appeared twice before, once in Chapter 24, with just one sentence, and the most obvious one was in Chapter 30, when Wei Min ran into her while buying cakes.
