Chapter 2 Voluntarily Sending Someone Away

After reading for a while, I realized that Harigana was unbearably stuffy. Although it wasn't very hot in July, the temperature inside the cramped carriage felt like it had doubled. I fanned myself with my hand, but even the air felt hot.

"Dulan, I need to use the restroom."

Dulan was the young girl who had just applied medicine to Harigana. Hearing that her master needed to use the restroom, she turned around without a word and told the coachman to drive the carriage away into the distance.

As the carriage began to move, the curtains were gently stirred by the wind, and a cool breeze blew through the gaps in the curtains onto Harigana's face, instantly taking away much of the heat.

She closed her eyes and leaned against the side, thinking that she might as well go back first, so as not to suffer here. Anyway, she couldn't participate in anything, so she might as well go back and lie down as soon as possible!

"Princess!"

The carriage had already stopped, and the driver had gone far away, so Dulan helped Harigana down from the carriage.

This place is quite a distance from the Naadam festival site, and the grass is lush, so no one would come this way!

The most unacceptable thing about Harigana is using the toilet here, but there's nothing we can do about it; that's just how the environment is.

She did want to build a dry toilet, but she would have to go nomadic in just a few months. Last month it was on the banks of the Yimin River, and next month it might be on the banks of the Xilamulun River!

So she could only get used to this kind of life. She couldn't possibly have someone dig a hole every three months just to go to the toilet, could she?

Having taken care of her business, she dawdled towards the carriage. But as soon as she stood on it, she glanced around and noticed a small river in the distance. (Author's hometown photo included.) "Dulan, shall we go over there? It's so stuffy in the carriage! There's definitely no one there, okay?"

Dulan looked at Harigana's pleading eyes and couldn't bear to refuse, but she also couldn't disobey what Saenjiya had asked her to do.

Harigana's eyes were so pitiful that she could only compromise and say, "Princess, let the coachman drive over there. You can open the curtain and enjoy the scenery then, shall we?"

Harigana nodded. As long as he could go, that was fine. He'd deal with the rest of the day later!

They were happily riding in the carriage towards the riverbank, finally able to cool off a bit.

At the Naadam festival, bloggers are giving it their all. In previous years, the Naadam was held between a few close tribes and was not as grand as it is today.

This year's Naadam festival was announced to Emperor Kangxi before his inspection tour, as he wanted to bring the Empress Dowager back to her hometown in glory.

That's why Saenjiya had Harigana hide to avoid being seen by Kangxi.

This time, Emperor Kangxi not only took the Empress Dowager on an inspection tour of the border, but also took several people from the Khorchin grasslands with him.

Although they were not from the Horqin Grassland, they were in the Nenjiang River basin, a place bordering the Qing Dynasty and Tsarist Russia.

If the emperor were to lose his mind and take a liking to Harigana's appearance, given her intelligence, she would probably be reduced to bones in no time in that bloodthirsty harem.

Harigana, unaware of Seingiya's concerns, was currently in the carriage gazing at the river in the distance, enjoying the gentle breeze blowing from the lake, leaning against the side, thoroughly content. "Princess, it's getting late, we should go back!" Dulan didn't want to disturb the beautiful scenery before them, but it was almost noon, and they needed to return for lunch.

Harigana didn't want to go back, but he couldn't skip lunch. He frowned, as if he were facing a difficult decision.

A moment later, her eyes flickered as she came up with a good idea.

"Dulan, you and I will stay here and let the driver go back to get the food, okay? Anyway, I'm not going to sit at the table to eat, so it's the same wherever we are!"

Dulan was taken aback; she hadn't expected Harigana to say that. After thinking for a moment, she agreed to her request. Anyway, they would just get some food to eat in the carriage, so it didn't matter where they stayed.

Moreover, it's lunchtime right now, so I doubt anyone will be walking this way.

When Emperor Kangxi arrived, what he saw was a painting of a beautiful woman.

Blue sky and white clouds, green grass and rivers, and in the middle of it all, a pretty little girl dressed in red stands by the river with her eyes closed, feeling the sunshine.

Emperor Kangxi was instantly stunned; his earlier irritation was completely replaced by the beautiful scenery before him.

Li Dequan frowned slightly as he looked at Harigana not far away. He had never seen this person before, and his motives were unclear. He had to be careful.

Unlike Li Dequan, Kangxi's decision to come here was impromptu, so it was impossible for anyone to have arrived earlier than him. Moreover, he had come on horseback, and just as he arrived, he saw a carriage pass by them.

These two things alone are enough to conclude that this little girl has always been here and did not come here on purpose!

Just then, Kangxi saw a girl not far away suddenly talking to her maid. The maid first shook her head, but finally couldn't resist the girl in red's coquettishness and nodded in agreement.

To Kangxi's surprise, the woman hugged the maid and kissed her on the cheek. Then, she happily ran to the riverbank, took off her shoes and socks, lifted her skirt, and with a gentle flick of her jade foot, ripples immediately appeared in the river.

Kangxi could clearly see the smile on Harigana's face, his throat tightened slightly, and his body involuntarily wanted to get closer.

However, reason prevailed, and I didn't presume to disturb them. I don't know if it was because I didn't want to disturb the scenery before me, or because I was afraid of being disappointed if I went over.

"Li Dequan, go and investigate!"

Emperor Kangxi was somewhat tempted, but since he did not yet know her identity, he could only investigate further before making a decision.

However, unless she's already married, such a beautiful woman should definitely enter the palace. He's the emperor; everything should be the best for him!

"Yes! Your servant obeys!"

Kangxi arrived quietly and left quietly. The sullen anger he had just felt with the Empress Dowager had vanished without a trace.

Wasn't he supposed to take a few Mongolian concubines with him? Then he can take them!

The Empress Dowager was already 68 years old, but she was still in good spirits and her eyes were full of energy.

She had clearly sensed Xuan Ye's displeasure just now, but now she was returning with a smile.

With a thousand thoughts racing through his mind, he turned and gave Su Ma La Gu a wink, and the latter quietly slipped out.

But all of this was done deliberately by Kangxi when he returned!

The two groups of people quickly ascertained Harigana's identity, and Kangxi was delighted, relieved that she was not yet married.

However, the Empress Dowager did not think so. She believed that Harigana's body was too weak, no different from that of women in the Central Plains. If something like what happened to Fulin were to happen, she might really have to atone with her death.
