Harigana's mind was still foggy. She had just woken up when she saw Kangxi's doting gaze and heard him call her Consort Chen.
Before she could figure it out, Kangxi was still saying these ambiguous things.
Looking at Harigana's bewildered expression, Kangxi became even more determined to treat her well in the future and not let such a pure and innocent girl suffer any harm.
"Jiaojiao! Why aren't you saying anything? Hmm?"
Harigana swallowed hard. Kangxi's voice was incredibly seductive, and after speaking, he even kissed the tip of her ear.
He tried to dodge, but accidentally aggravated the injury on his back. Harigana frowned, and his cheeks, which had just turned slightly red with embarrassment, turned pale again.
"Jiaojiao! I'm not teasing you anymore, don't move!"
Kangxi was somewhat annoyed, but only towards himself. He was happy that Harigana was out of danger, and in that moment he was so focused on expressing his feelings that he forgot the little girl would react this way.
He carefully placed her on the bed, examined her injuries closely, and breathed a sigh of relief upon finding no bleeding.
"Jiaojiao! Be careful, the injury to your shoulder is quite serious!"
Harigana nodded. She hadn't felt the pain in her wounds because of the shock. But now, with this stimulation, not only her shoulder but her entire back felt a burning pain like it had been burned, and the swelling pain made her heart feel uncomfortable.
Because of the wound on Harigana's back, the army stopped advancing until the wound scabbed over, and then continued.
During this period, although Kangxi acted normally in front of outsiders, whenever the two of them were alone, he liked to stick close to Harigana.
"Xuan Ye! Don't worry, I'm really not in much pain anymore!"
Harigana was initially puzzled by Kangxi's nervous demeanor and the things he said, but he did not show it.
She thought that since her injuries were indeed very painful, she had no time to think about romantic feelings, so she didn't say much.
But they had already set off to continue their journey, and Kangxi still looked worried. Finally, when he asked for the 10th time whether he needed to send the imperial physician to take a look, Harigana couldn't help but speak up to stop him.
"Jiaojiao!"
Kangxi felt somewhat aggrieved. He felt that he had been very attentive to Harigana during this period, and had also made it clear that she would be his only companion from now on.
But whether it was intentional or not, Harigana not only didn't respond to his feelings, but now he was being disliked just for showing a little more concern!
Harigana was almost choked by Kangxi's expression. He really wanted the recorder to see what their emperor looked like now. How could this be a decisive and ruthless emperor?
It's like a child who wants food but is refused by an adult, then looks pitifully at their mother.
"Pah! Pah! Pah!" Harigana cursed inwardly. "She couldn't possibly have such a big son. That's not a fair description!"
"Xuan Ye! I know you're worried about me, but as you can see, my wound has already scabbed over! Don't worry! I'll definitely tell you if I'm in pain! Seeing you so anxious makes me anxious too!"
Harigana felt helpless; Kangxi's gaze was simply too blatant, and she had no choice but to speak up and offer comfort.
When Kangxi heard Harigana say that she would also get nervous, he began to reflect on himself, wondering if he was being too nervous.
But after thinking about it, I still felt that it wasn't his problem, but rather that Harigana was too resilient and didn't want to slow down the army's advance, so he was gritting his teeth and persevering, not wanting to trouble him.
If Harigana knew that Kangxi's inner monologue was so rich, he would definitely applaud enthusiastically.
Unfortunately, Harigana wasn't a mind reader for Emperor Kangxi, so seeing Kangxi's somewhat relaxed expression, he assumed that his words had reassured him and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Jiaojiao! If you feel unwell, you must tell me, okay? I'll have the imperial physician examine you!"
Although Kangxi was still very worried, he forced himself to relax so that Harigana wouldn't be nervous and wouldn't notice anything amiss.
"Okay! I understand!"
Harigana nodded and smiled at Kangxi.
That one smile almost made Emperor Kangxi pull her into his arms and shower her with affection. However, he ultimately refrained from doing so, mindful of the injury on her back.
"good!"
Kangxi reached out and touched Harigana's hair, then took out a sketchbook and read it to her.
Harigana has refused countless times the request to read the sketchbook aloud, as the content is truly embarrassing and makes one's heart race.
But Kangxi completely ignored Harigana's refusal, dismissing it as an invalid protest, and then read it to her word by word with great emotion.
Harigana went from blushing and burying her head in the pillow to refusing to communicate at the beginning, to being able to listen to Kangxi read about matters of the bedchamber without changing her expression, all in just five days.
Chapter Eighteen: The Wedding Night!
Kangxi's voice was deep and slow. Harigana's eyelids twitched, and he had a feeling that what he was about to hear was not good!
"Xuan Ye!"
Harigana quickly interrupted. She could accept it when it was just the two of them in the imperial tent, but now there was not only a coachman in front of them, but also Li Dequan and Dulan following them.
If others heard that a dignified emperor was reading such things, not only would they be shocked, but if word got out, she would be utterly disgraced!
"Jiaojiao! What's wrong?"
As Kangxi read these words, he kept observing Harigana's expression. Sure enough, the little girl was stunned for a moment, then grabbed his sleeve to stop him from continuing.
"I want some milk tea, I'm not going to listen to this for now! Besides, I think I'm a little sleepy, I'll drink the milk tea and then take a nap!"
Harigana didn't know what excuse to use, so he just said something random to get him to put down his book and distract him.
"Okay, I'll pour it for you!"
Emperor Kangxi had ordered milk tea to be prepared early in the morning, so when Harigana said she wanted some, he readily put down his book and leisurely served her a bowl.
However, while he was working, he kept an eye on Harigan's movements out of the corner of his eye, trying to make sure that what he had just thought was correct.
Sure enough, when he put down his sketchbook and picked up his teacup, the girl quietly reached out and took the sketchbook from a short distance away, placing it far from him. Feeling she had accomplished her mission, she even moved closer to Kangxi.
Kangxi chuckled to himself as he looked at Harigana's adorable appearance, but he didn't say anything.
He used underhanded means to get Harigana to come to the palace with him! So he was quite certain that Harigana didn't have feelings for him.
But he really liked Harigana and didn't want to lose her, so what he had to do was make Harigana like him as much as he liked her.
