Kangxi carefully helped her put on her shoes. Hearing a soft laugh, he looked up and saw Harigana laughing.
"What's wrong?"
After putting on his shoes, he stood up and pulled the person up: "Why are you laughing so happily?"
I gently tapped the tip of her nose and waited for her answer.
"Yes, I'm very happy."
I don't want to say why, for fear that Kangxi will become arrogant.
She turned to walk outside, but he pulled her back halfway.
"It's windy outside, put this on."
Kangxi did not dwell on her little scheme; if she didn't want to talk about it, then so be it, and he would ask her again that evening.
He took out a red cloak from the box, carefully tied it for her, making sure she wouldn't be blown away by the wind, and then led her by the hand toward the Empress Dowager's tent.
Just as Harigana had expected, when they arrived at the tent entrance, Qigen was standing outside looking anxious. Upon seeing them, he immediately knelt down to greet them.
"This servant greets Your Majesty, the Emperor greets Your Majesty the Empress."
Harigana frowned. Under normal circumstances, Qigen would not stand outside but would stay in the tent with the Empress Dowager.
So she really made the right decision to come this time; the Empress Dowager must be in a very bad mood.
Where is Mother?
He woke the man up and quietly inquired about the Empress Dowager's condition.
"Your Majesty, the Empress Dowager is sitting on the edge of the bed in a daze, and hasn't even eaten dinner."
When Li Dequan arrived, Qigen was standing at the door and did not hear what he and the Empress Dowager were saying. Moreover, the Empress Dowager was not a casual person and would not tell Qigen about the affairs of Khorchin, even though she was her confidante.
"I'll go take a look."
After Harigana finished speaking, he turned to look at Kangxi, who immediately realized what he meant and said, "Go inside. I'll come back to take you back for dinner later."
The Empress Dowager was inside alone; it wouldn't be appropriate for him to go in with her. Besides, he was only there to bring Harigana over.
"good."
She tugged at his clothes, blinked, and then went inside.
The Empress Dowager heard the commotion when the two women arrived at the door. Just as she was about to call them in, she saw Harigana walk in alone.
"Let Xuan Ye come in too."
She paused, about to go inside, and peeked through the curtain. She saw him about to turn and leave. Hearing the noise, he looked at her and asked, "Jiaojiao, what's wrong?"
The Empress Dowager's voice was very soft, and Kangxi did not hear it.
"Your mother wants you to come in."
Inside the tent, three people sat facing each other.
Harigana looked left and right, surprised that the two of them could remain so calm.
"Gurgle~!"
Just as she was wondering whether to break the awkward atmosphere, her stomach let out a loud growl, drawing the attention of both of them.
"Why!"
The Empress Dowager sighed: "Xuan Ye, take her back for a meal. I'm fine."
She paused for a moment, then said, "You handle the matter of Khorchin. I trust you."
The Empress Dowager originally wanted Kangxi to take better care of his family, but ultimately she didn't say it aloud.
She believed that Kangxi would not abandon them or let them suffer.
As for anything else, she doesn't ask for much.
"Don't worry, with me here, there won't be any major problems."
Kangxi stood up, said only one sentence, and left without saying anything more, taking Harigana's hand.
"Mother, do you really not want me to come with you?"
Harigana, led by Emperor Kangxi, turned his head to ask questions, which made the Empress Dowager chuckle softly.
I wasn't really worried to begin with, and the only reason I didn't let Qigen stay with me was because I was annoyed and upset. Even though I said I would cut ties completely, I still worry.
The words Kangxi just said, "With him here," gave me a strange sense of peace, and the restlessness and frustration in my heart instantly disappeared.
So now, looking at her cute little face, I find it very pleasing.
"No need. Go back with Xuan Ye. I want some peace and quiet. You're too noisy."
She waved the hand holding the silk handkerchief and said, "I am well."
Harigana looked at the Empress Dowager in disbelief, knowing that she was doing it on purpose, and was happy to cooperate.
He feigned a heartbroken expression and looked at the Empress Dowager: "As expected, human affection can fade away."
After saying that, she obediently followed Kangxi, but the upturned corners of her lips showed to everyone that she was not really sad.
Upon reaching the door, he whispered a few words to Qigen before returning to the imperial tent with peace of mind.
"Jiaojiao, are you relieved now?"
Harigana nodded, watching him earnestly wash his hands, and mischievously pulled his hand away and flicked it at him, getting water droplets all over his face.
"You already guessed that the Empress Dowager wouldn't have any major problems, didn't you?"
No wonder no one stopped me when I said I wanted to go see her; it turns out I had expected it.
Kangxi helplessly took a handkerchief from the side and wiped the water droplets from his face, then affectionately pinched the tip of her nose: "Jiaojiao, I'm not a god, how could I know so much?"
He released her nose, then helped her wash her hands, while saying, "I only know that the Empress Dowager won't get stuck on things, and I promised my grandmother that I would take care of Khorchin, so it's only a matter of time before she wants to see it."
After all, the Empress Dowager's family was still around; how could she not be worried?
Harigana pursed his lips. What's the difference between this and guessing?
But she couldn't think about other people's business right now; she was very hungry and wanted to fill her stomach first.
"Let's have our meal first."
Kangxi didn't want her to think so much: "I'll take care of everything."
He helped wipe the white part of her hands clean, then quickly washed himself and led her to the dining table.
After dinner, the two went to see their three children and then took a walk around the neighborhood to digest their food before returning to the imperial tent.
Perhaps because she had taken a nap in the afternoon, Harigana tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep.
She felt hot when Kangxi held her while she was covered with a blanket, but she would feel cold if he didn't hold her.
I tried to stick my feet out from under the covers to cool them off, but another big foot hooked them back under the covers.
"Xuan Ye, I'm hot."
His breathing was very even, so I thought he was asleep, but it turned out he was faking it.
"Jiaojiao, aren't you sleepy?"
Harigana immediately shook his head, then, remembering that he couldn't see, quickly added, "Sleepy, I'm going to sleep now."
Whether he's sleepy or not, he'll say he is. You can tell something's off just by his voice. You could guess what he's up to with your toes.
"Oh, I'll talk to you tomorrow then. Go to sleep."
After Kangxi finished speaking, he began to gently pat her back, coaxing her to sleep.
But that sentence was neither clear nor unclear. Even if she wasn't sleepy, she would have wanted to listen to the whole thing before going to sleep.
The inner voices within me are at war.
One person said: "Kangxi knows you, he did it on purpose, you can't be fooled."
Another person said: Your persona is that of an innocent and naive girl who can't help but ask questions and then gets her way.
One person said: Don't ask, it's definitely not a good thing, they're just teasing you.
Another person said: Knowing is just a trick, but jumping into it is the real you.
She nodded and shook her head intermittently, her movements small, but the fact that she was being held in Kangxi's arms made it clear she was a woman.
