Chapter 106 Another Person Arrives

After chatting with the Empress Dowager for a while, Emperor Kangxi turned to look at Harigana and noticed that the little girl was nodding her head, trying hard to fight off her drowsiness.

Thinking of Harigana's current pregnancy and her recent tendency to be very sleepy, Kangxi smiled slightly.

He turned to the Empress Dowager and said, "Grandmother, Harigana is not fully recovered yet, so I will send her back first!"

Although he had lied to the Empress Dowager, his affection for Harigana outweighed his feelings, so he didn't think there was anything wrong with using the excuse that Harigana wasn't fully recovered to send him back to rest.

Bumbutai nodded. Although she felt a lot of dissatisfaction and reluctance that her grandson was protecting a concubine, Harigana was injured while saving Kangxi, so she couldn't say much about it! Besides, if this woman wasn't by Xuan Ye's side, it would be more convenient to call a few Khorchin people to serve the emperor later.

As long as this woman isn't by Kangxi's side, she can get Xuan Ye to choose a few more people! Thinking this way, the Empress Dowager's mood improved a lot, and her gaze towards Harigana became much kinder.

"Go! I'm happy and want to stay a little longer!"

If the Empress Dowager hadn't said that, Kangxi might have just left. But now that the Empress Dowager said she wanted to stay a little longer, Kangxi had to come back to be with her, regardless of whether he wanted to or not!

But Emperor Kangxi had no idea what the Empress Dowager was thinking. If he had known, he would never have come back.

Moreover, it was only at this moment that he belatedly realized something: the title of Harigana was something the Empress Dowager probably didn't want to use, since her grandfather had used that title before!

His expression was somewhat unnatural, but sending Harigana back to rest was the priority right now. The matter of the title could be discussed more carefully later when he returned to the palace. Since the imperial decree to promote Harigana to the rank of Imperial Concubine hadn't been issued yet, he could give Harigana a different title.

"Yes! Grandmother, I'll be right back!" After saying this, Kangxi stood up and walked to Harigana's side, saying, "Jiaojiao! Come on, let me take you back to rest!"

"good!"

Harigana turned to look at Kangxi, then obediently stood up with him, bid farewell to the Empress Dowager, and was led back to the imperial tent by Kangxi's hand.

She was genuinely tired. Since finding out she was pregnant, she hadn't experienced nausea or vomiting, but she slept a lot every day. Normally, she would already be in bed by this time.

"Jiaojiao! Were you feeling unwell just now?"

Emperor Kangxi held Harigana's hand, half-embracing her, carefully protecting her. Although someone was leading the way and carrying lanterns, he was still worried.

"No, I don't feel unwell! I'm just very sleepy!"

Harigana leaned against Kangxi, trying hard to open her eyes, but no matter how hard she tried, she was still sleepy, so she simply closed her eyes and followed Kangxi's steps forward.

Seeing how exhausted Harigana was, he picked her up in his arms as soon as they were a short distance away from the crowd. The person in his arms didn't scream in fright as usual, but instead skillfully wrapped her arms around Kangxi's neck and fell into a deep sleep against his chest.

When they arrived at the imperial tent, Kangxi originally intended to help Harigana undress and then let her sleep peacefully. However, remembering how clean the young girl usually was, he had Dulan bring in some warm water and then gently helped Harigana wipe her body and change her into a clean nightgown.

"Xuan Ye! Stop fooling around, I'm sleepy!"

Harigana waved her hand, slapping Kangxi's hand away as he buttoned his shirt. Feeling that no one was bothering her anymore, she turned over and continued sleeping.

Fortunately, Kangxi had already tied two beads, and there was only one left untied, so he simply went with Harigana!

He knelt on one knee on the bed, kissed Harigana's earlobe, and then turned and walked out.

"Have the Imperial Concubine guard the entrance; no one except me is allowed to enter!"

Little Li immediately knelt on the ground and said, "Yes! This servant obeys the decree!"

Kangxi instructed Xiao Li, then looked at Dulan standing beside him and reluctantly pointed at her, saying, "Go in and keep her company. If the Imperial Concubine wakes up, have someone come find me! Remember, you must not disturb the Imperial Concubine's rest!"

Dulan's eyes lit up; this was a golden opportunity! Changshengtian knew how long it had been since she had seen her princess's beautiful sleeping face!

"Yes! This servant obeys!"

Emperor Kangxi was furious at Dulan's appearance. If he hadn't had no other choice, he would never have allowed Dulan to get close to his beloved! Unfortunately, he hadn't brought any maids with him when he came out, and the only people he could trust to go in and serve him were the ones brought by Harigana.

Although he regretted saying he would let Dulan go in to accompany him, he was the emperor, and his word was law. He could not go back on his word and could only swallow his displeasure.

After Kangxi left, Dulan entered the imperial tent.

Harigana slept soundly, unaware of Kangxi's jealousy and Dulan's joy. She only knew that, half-asleep, Kangxi pulled her into his arms, his large hands caressing her waist. Then, she didn't know what Kangxi whispered in her ear, and she unconsciously hummed in response. Then, she felt something burning hot in her hand.

So much so that my arms were still a little sore and weak when I woke up the next morning.

......

"Grandmother! Are you tired? We'll be staying here for a few more days, so please take care of yourself!"

When Kangxi returned to the banquet hall, he looked at the radiant Empress Dowager and worried that her health might not be up to par. Although the Empress Dowager appeared to be in good health, she was, after all, nearly seventy years old.

Bumbutai nodded in satisfaction. She said that Xuan Ye was very filial, and that Xuan Ye's behavior was only normal as long as that woman from the Borchijin tribe was not around!

"Xuan Ye, rest assured, I am not tired! I am truly happy!"

The grandmother and granddaughter chatted happily. While Kangxi was sending people away, Tongjia had already composed herself. After realizing that Harigana wouldn't be hanging around her, her depressed mood dissipated considerably.

She thought, although Harigana lived in the imperial tent, if Kangxi did not go back but instead found someone else to serve him in bed, wouldn't this newly promoted Consort Chen lose all face?

Thinking this made Tongjia feel even better, but her good mood only lasted a short while before she saw Sumalagu walking over with two girls dressed in Khorchin clothing.

Although Emperor Kangxi was displeased, he did not want to offend the Empress Dowager.
