Chapter 7: Discovering Identity

Harigana decided to play the fool and, regardless of whether the man was Kangxi or not, she was determined to get engaged to the man she met today. She had a feeling that if she didn't get engaged soon, something bad would happen.

Kangxi was unaware of Harigana's thoughts and was still pondering how to introduce himself to her. Would the young girl be even happier if he introduced himself as the emperor?

"Harigana, Harigana Flowers, it sounds beautiful!"

The pure Mongolian language that came from Kangxi's mouth, coupled with his deep voice, made Harigana's ear tips itch, and he unconsciously reached out and tugged at his earlobes.

Kangxi immediately recognized Harigana's reaction and knew that the little rabbit liked his voice.

"Tarara!" (Thank you!)

Harigana answered softly, showing no desire to continue the conversation. If she were to learn something she shouldn't, she'd be in big trouble!

Besides, her ears were burning hot, and if it weren't for the mess on her chest, she would have liked to fan them with her hand to cool them down.

The seamless communication between the two languages only intensified Kangxi's desire to take her away.

Emperor Kangxi had never been so gentle with a girl before, and he dared not reveal her identity. Anyone else would have already thrown themselves at him!

So, for a moment, the two of them were deathly silent again.

Fortunately, Li Dequan returned quickly, with Dulan and Senjiya riding alongside him.

"This servant greets Your Majesty!"

Saenjiya had intended to take Habril out for a walk and talk to her, but unexpectedly encountered Dulan running hurriedly toward Harigana's tent.

Behind her stood a man. Senja's vision went black, and she almost fell to the ground.

Although I couldn't see who it was, I knew from the whisk in its hand that it must be someone close to the Emperor. After all, only Emperor Kangxi's personal eunuchs would use that kind of thing.

Suppressing her worries, she approached Li Dequan with a sliver of hope, only to be utterly disheartened by his attitude; she knew she couldn't keep Harigana.

"Madam Chief, there's no need for such formalities, please rise!"

Kangxi didn't expect that Seinjiya would come along. He subconsciously looked at Harigana and saw the little rabbit who turned its head and stared at him with round eyes. When it met his gaze, it turned its head away again.

Harigana was pondering something: should she kneel down? But with her chest in such a state, turning around was impossible! But if she didn't turn around, was she supposed to kneel and worship the big tree in front of her?

Fortunately, Dulan was perceptive. After Kangxi called him, he immediately took a cloak and draped it over Harigana, completely covering the view from his chest.

"This servant greets Your Majesty!"

Harigana couldn't pretend she knew nothing. Paying her respects was a given. No matter how much she resented kneeling and bowing to others, her status meant she couldn't do whatever she wanted.

Actually, there's another thing Harigana dislikes: being called a slave. Although he didn't have much personal freedom in his previous life, he grew up in the 20th century, and the concept of equality for all is innate to him!

But this damned Qing Dynasty took pride in calling themselves Manchu slaves. Just getting Kangxi to acknowledge them as his slaves was like winning the lottery.

When Kangxi heard Harigana's greeting, he couldn't help but frown, especially at the word "servant," which sounded extremely grating!

"Harigana! Get up! You don't need to be so polite in the future!"

Kangxi reached out to help Harigana, but Dulan reached out and helped her even faster, leaving Kangxi's outstretched hand awkwardly frozen in place.

Fortunately, he withdrew his hand in an instant, but gave Dulan a sharp look, which she didn't notice because her head was lowered.

“Mother, if it weren’t for His Majesty today, I might have been injured. I didn’t know it was His Majesty who saved me, so I even said I would have Abu personally go and thank my benefactor!”

Harigana explained the matter clearly in just two short sentences, and Senjiya's heart grew heavier. If the emperor wanted Harigana to come to the palace with them because of this, they would have no way of refusing.

She regretted it a little. If she hadn't rushed Harigana and Batu out to ride horses, and if she had kept them hidden in the tent, would this have been avoided?

"You're welcome. As I just said, it's only right!"

Kangxi's words plunged Senjiya into despair.

Even if Harigana were stupid, she would know what those words meant, but she really didn't want to enter the palace. None of this was what she wanted to do; just like how she met Kangxi today, it was all because of other people's arrangements.

"Mother! Could you send someone to check on Batu? His horse was just startled, and I don't know if it's alright now."

Saenjiya was secretly delighted. If the Emperor knew that Harigana already had someone he liked, wouldn't he no longer have to worry about the Emperor taking him away?

Kangxi was indeed very angry. He never expected that the dark-skinned man would actually take a liking to him. Wasn't the man much more handsome than that other man?

"Your Highness, I have already sent someone over. I just received news that he fainted from fright!"

Li Dequan was very glad that he had just sent someone over to check if that person was injured. After all, it was the one who did the bad things, and he should know how bad he was!

I never expected it would come in handy now. I hope the Emperor can understand his meaning and make good use of it.

"Useless! He fainted from just a horse's fright?"

Emperor Kangxi was very pleased with Li Dequan's words. After saying this, he looked at Saenjiya and asked, "Who is this person? He is really too useless!"

Seneja paused, completely rejecting everything she wanted to say!

The Emperor has already said that person is no good. If we were to continue by saying that person is Harigana's fiancé, it's very likely that this sharp-tongued Emperor would also be cursing Baoliri as useless.

Moreover, she now understands that the emperor came prepared, and this whole thing may have been orchestrated by Emperor Kangxi!

"That's the son of the servant Anda, who brought Harigana out for a stroll!"

Harigana saw that his mother was not continuing as he had intended. Although he didn't know why, now was definitely not a good time to talk about this matter.

So she could only stand quietly to the side and wait for Seingia to take her back!

"Let's go back first! Harigana was also frightened just now, let's check him over carefully later to see if he's injured!"

Kangxi saw their resistance, and although he was very angry, he was, after all, the emperor!

But seeing the beauty swaying precariously, he swallowed back all the words he wanted to say. He decided to send the little rabbit back to tidy up first, and wait for Baoli to come to his door.
