"Jiaojiao".
Harigana glanced at it briefly before looking away. Hearing Kangxi's voice, he looked up, then lowered his head and knelt on the ground without saying a word.
She was just testing the waters, wanting to see who would come in first.
If Kangxi was worried about her, he would have stood at the door after she entered, and upon hearing her shout, he would have been the first to rush in.
But when she looked over, she didn't see Kangxi.
In other words, he really did hide in the shadows and listen to Bumbutai and her conversation after she entered the palace.
At that moment, she suddenly felt she didn't want to pretend anymore.
"Jiaojiao, get up first."
Looking at her expression, Kangxi felt a pang of pain in his heart.
He reached out to help her up, but before he could touch her, she dodged him.
"I can do it myself."
He stood up unsteadily, walked to a corner, and stood there with his head down, not looking at anyone in the room.
"Your Majesty, the Empress Dowager is suffering from a sudden heart attack. This servant will go and prepare some medicine, but the Empress Dowager absolutely cannot be subjected to any more agitation."
The person who came to speak was not Zhao Rongxi, but Bumbutai's imperial physician.
Anyone who isn't a fool could tell from these words that the Empress Dowager was acting this way because someone had angered her.
"Get out here and brew the medicine!"
Kangxi's expression was not good. If this sentence were to get out, the accusation that the Empress had angered the Empress Dowager would follow her forever.
Even if we disregard the fact that her body is already at its limit, we cannot say that even if it were a minor ailment that could be cured instantly.
In an instant, a murderous glint flashed in his eyes.
The imperial physician sensed the murderous intent emanating from Emperor Kangxi and lowered his head, secretly lamenting his misfortune.
He was just telling the truth and hadn't thought about the consequences.
It wasn't until after he finished speaking that he realized how suggestive his words were.
Thinking that after the Empress Dowager passed away, the Emperor would give him a good master to follow in light of his meritorious service in saving her life.
Unexpectedly, instead of gaining credit, he offended both the Emperor and the Empress.
"emperor,"
Ha wanted to say something to make amends, but how could Zhao Rongxi give him the chance? He immediately stepped forward and said, "Your Majesty, the Empress Dowager and the Empress Dowager are not in good health. They should be carefully cared for now."
This servant will now prescribe a dose of herbal medicine; after taking it, you will feel much better.
However, the Empress Dowager is deeply troubled; she needs to figure things out herself before she can truly heal.
Kangxi's expression softened, and he waved his hand, telling them to leave quickly.
Looking at the Empress Dowager lying on the bed with her eyes closed, he clenched his fists tightly behind his back.
"Jiaojiao".
The Empress Dowager was watching, and Sumalagu was also there. He turned around, walked to Harigana's side, took her hand, and went to the side hall.
Neither of them spoke a word on the way, until the palace doors were closed, at which point Harigana shook off Kangxi's hand.
"Jiaojiao, please let me explain."
Kangxi grabbed her shoulders and stared straight at her.
He never knew his darling would be so clever, actually discovering the whole story.
"Explain what? Explain that His Majesty does not trust me, and that he conspired with your grandmother, the Grand Empress Dowager of the Qing Dynasty, to test whether I, the Empress, have any ulterior motives?"
Harigana's gaze did not waver; his eyes were slightly red, yet he still stubbornly looked at Kangxi.
His voice trembled, as if he was struggling to suppress his urge to explode in anger.
"Jiaojiao, I didn't test you. I believe you. I've never doubted you!"
Kangxi realized she had misunderstood, and explained to her very quickly: "Jiaojiao, my grandmother said this was her last wish. She threatened me with death, so I had no choice but to agree."
Even though I agreed, I never doubted you, never.
Jiaojiao, you know the location of the Imperial Seal and the Tiger Tally. If I really suspected you, how could I not be wary of you?
"Forget about the imperial seal. The army only recognizes the tiger tally, not the person. You can't doubt my loyalty."
Harigana chuckled and tried to push Kangxi away, but the scoundrel held on tightly, and his struggles were futile.
She simply stopped struggling and let him hold her.
"Really? Then why didn't you tell me beforehand?"
Dare you say this isn't just something you're thinking in your heart?
Kangxi immediately shook his head and released his grip on Harigana's shoulder: "Jiaojiao, I swear I never thought that way."
He held up three fingers: "I swear to God, this was truly the Empress Dowager's idea all along. I have never doubted you."
Fearing she still wouldn't believe him, or even abandon him because of this, he pulled her into his arms and said, "Jiaojiao, the reason I didn't tell you is because the Empress Dowager made a solemn oath. She said that if I tipped her off, you would die young, and I dared not gamble."
Harigana never expected that old hag would be so ruthless. Even after things have come to this point, does she still want to cause trouble?
"Jiaojiao, the bet is you, I dare not bet."
He held her tightly, as if afraid she would run away.
"Jiaojiao, I really don't. I love you, I love you so much. Even if you really want the throne, I will give it to you."
In my eyes, you are more important than anything else.
Harigana believed most of what he said, but still had doubts.
But doubts aside, let's continue with the silly, goofy image.
I originally intended to use this incident as a starting point to gradually become smarter.
She reached out and hugged Kangxi, burying her head in his chest: "Xuan Ye, I... I thought you didn't want me anymore."
Waaaaaah!
The large hand placed on his waist patted Kangxi's back, as if afraid of being heard, suppressing his sobs in a low voice.
