"Hello, Auntie? Good morning." Shi Shi answered the phone while jogging.
"I've found someone for you; she can manage your studio. Go meet her in a bit, and I'll give you her contact information."
"It has to be you! You're so efficient."
"What do you know? You're only somewhat famous now that you're recording a show. Who will remember you after the show is over? It takes the right time, the right place, and the right people to achieve twice the result with half the effort!" After hanging up the phone, Shi Shi put her phone in her pocket, thinking that she would have to buy a Bluetooth headset when she got back.
Just as she reached the bend, a person and a dog suddenly appeared, and Shi Shi couldn't stop in time and crashed into them.
With a 'thud,' the man was only knocked off balance.
With a "woof," the dog in the man's arms was knocked to the ground by Shi Shi.
"Coal ash!" the man exclaimed, rushing to look at the small gray Teddy bear. It was indeed a puppy, weighing at most 4.5 pounds; the tailless Teddy was even shorter than Shi Shi's arm. She was genuinely afraid the dog would get hurt. She quickly went forward to apologize.
"I'm so sorry, let's check if it's alright, and see if we can take it to the vet." Shi Shi quickly apologized.
Lu Qi glared at Shi Shi, but seeing that her attitude was quite good, he said, "The dog's fine, but be careful next time." Then he tentatively asked, "Are you senior Shi Shi?"
Upon hearing this address, Shi Shi knew she had run into an acquaintance. She nodded: "I'm Shi Shi. Excuse me, and who are you?" She couldn't recall this person from the original owner's memories.
"I'm Lu Qi, a year younger than you and in the same major. Your roommate, Wu Ruirui, is my girlfriend."
Shi Shi had three roommates during her undergraduate studies: Wu Ruirui, Bao Yiting, and Bi Lei. Wu Ruirui studied civil engineering, and she was the only student in her class, so she was assigned to their dormitory. She was closest to Bao Yiting and Bi Lei, while Wu Ruirui's classes were different from theirs, so they rarely saw each other.
"When did Rui Rui start dating? I haven't heard her mention it," Shi Shi casually remarked.
Lu Qi said apologetically, "It's only been a little over a month. Your class has a reunion next week, and Bi Lei should be there too. I'll treat the three of you to dinner as an apology." It was clear he valued Wu Ruirui quite a bit.
“Okay, Rui Rui will let us know when the time comes.” Shi Shi didn’t have Lu Qi’s contact information, and the two exchanged a few pleasantries before parting ways.
She opened the green chat window and saw that the muted class group chat had indeed mentioned the class reunion next week. Her recent divorce had caused quite a stir, so she guessed that no one dared to invite her.
Zhe'ai is a very popular coffee shop, and I really love the coffee there.
"This coffee is made with Geisha beans. It's very sweet and has no astringency. Drinking it is like savoring floral aromas; it's quite interesting. You should try it."
"Thank you, Miss Shi." Song Ming didn't actually like coffee; her parents ran a tea plantation back home. She had loved tea since she was a child, even before she could walk.
She subtly observed Shi Shi from the moment she entered. Kong Lai was her mentor when she first entered the industry. When Shi Shi was just a junior assistant, Kong Lai encouraged her to take the agent qualification exam.
Kong Lai is now a winner in life, while she has gradually driven herself to despair. Her company, Qunxing Entertainment, has only risen to prominence in the last decade or so, becoming one of the industry's three giants. She was considered a veteran employee, rising from a junior assistant to an agent and then to the deputy director of the artist department—a journey that took her 11 years.
She had thought she would work at this company until retirement, but it turned out they didn't need her. Remembering what her old friend in HR had told her, she felt disheartened. Just then, Kong Lai extended an olive branch. She was already planning to start her own business anyway, so she figured she might as well take advantage of Shi Shi's connections.
