Chapter 250: Reminiscing with Old Friends
Jun Lan: "I believe he will always be guarding us somewhere."
Situ: "You seem to be worried. Why don't you tell me and see if I can help you?"
Jun Lan: "You should have heard about the death of Master Duanmu's second wife, right?"
Situ: "So what? What does this have to do with you?"
Jun Lan: "It's none of my business, but I promised his wife I would help her. His eldest son got carried away and said he would find out the truth within a month, but now it's been over half a month and he still hasn't found anything. His wife is anxious so she asked me to come up with a solution for her, but I know my own limitations, so I can only ask for your opinion."
Situ: "If you don't have a big enough head, don't try to imitate others and wear such a big hat. My opinion is that you'd better stay out of other people's family affairs."
Jun Lan: "Is there really no way to help them?"
Situ: "Duanmu Lin told us not to interfere."
Jun Lan: "Forget it then. If you don't care, I'll take care of it."
Situ: "You really haven't changed at all. You never listen to others!"
Jun Lan: "Then I'll go to my son, okay?"
Situ fell into deep thought as he watched her walking away.
Jun Lan came to Ming Li's room with an unhappy look on her face. Seeing that she was unhappy, Ming Li smiled and said, "Is Uncle Situ ignoring you?"
Jun Lan: "I should be the one ignoring him. How can there be such a cold-blooded person in this world?"
Mingli: "Uncle is not like that. He is a man who values friendship and loyalty."
Jun Lan: "Bullshit, he is not. Otherwise, why wouldn't he even help me with such a small matter."
Mingli: "If they can't help you, then they must be worried that you'll be in danger. I assume the little things you mentioned aren't your own business, right?"
Junlan stammered and couldn't answer for a while.
Mingli: "Speaking of friendship, if Duolong Village hadn't taken us in, I don't know what would have happened to us now. Do you think we should go and see them?"
Jun Lan smiled when she heard this.
"Of course I do. I miss Uncle Yao and Aunt Pang as well."
"Then I'll drive you there."
After Mingli and Situ had a brief explanation, they drove to Duolong Village with Junlan.
Mingli is a good driver, and Junlan didn't feel tired at all on the bumpy dirt road.
Jun Lan: "Where did you learn to drive? You drive like a seasoned driver. Did Situ teach you?"
Mingli: "No, I learned it in the mountains. I often had to deliver supplies for drug traffickers in the mountains."
Jun Lan: "Do they often abuse you and force you to do things against your will?"
Mingli: "Not really. I also met a girl in the mountains."
Junlan's fire of gossip burned fiercely when she heard it.
"Is she the girl you like?"
Mingli: "No, to be precise, she should be considered my aunt, although she didn't do it voluntarily."
Jun Lan: "Alas, another good girl has been ruined in vain."
Junlan wanted to ask more about his life in the mountains, but they had already arrived at Duolong Village.
"It really hasn't changed much here!" Mingli said, pointing to the outhouse where he used to live. "I can't believe it's still here!"
Jun Lan: "I put a lot of thought into it."
Suddenly, a pregnant woman walked out of the house.
Jun Lan: "Who is she? Why is she living in the room where we are waiting for me?"
Mingli: "She is my uncle's woman, but try not to mention this person in front of her."
Jun Lan: "I understand."
They got out of the car, and Mingli and Junlan walked to the front of the house.
Mingli shouted inside: "Su Mo."
The woman inside quickly opened the door and rushed out, saying, "Brother Mingli, I knew you would be fine. I knew you would come to find me."
Su Mo glanced at Jun Lan: "She is..."
Mingli: "She is my mother!"
Su Mo: "She is my aunt? Wow, she is really pretty and young!"
Mingli: "Why do you live here?"
Su Mo: "When I came here, the villagers of Duolong Village were afraid that I was a drug dealer and refused to take me in. Later, when I told them that it was you who asked me to come, they reluctantly let me stay here. Did you rescue that beast after you returned to the mountain?"
Mingli: "I saved him, but he later died in a car accident."
Jun Lan felt like she was just a light bulb standing between the two of them.
"You two can chat slowly, I'm going to find Aunt Fatty."
Junlan turned around and went to her neighbor's house to chat with Aunt Pang.
After seeing Jun Lan leave, Su Mo said, "He deserves this end." She touched her belly.
"It's just that this child is innocent. I don't know what to do in the future."
Mingli: "Just wait and give birth to this child in peace! I will take care of everything from now on."
Su Mo: "I can only rely on you, brother, now."
Mingli: "Where I go, do you go?"
Su Mo: "As long as you don't despise me, I will go with you to the ends of the earth."
Mingli: "Would you like to go to Snow White Manor with me? I promised my uncle that I would take good care of you and your son."
Su Mo: "Are you here to see me or to see the baby? If I don't have a baby in my belly, will you still treat me so attentively?"
Mingli didn't say anything, but just pretended to look towards Aunt Pang's house to avoid Su Mo's gaze and questions.
"Do you think these two women, one who doesn't speak Burmese and the other who doesn't speak Chinese, can communicate with each other?"
Su Mo patted his arm and said, "I don't want to embarrass you, just take it as what I said."
Fat Aunt's Home
Jun Lan: "Auntie Fat, I'm back, do you miss me?"
Fat Auntie: "Aren't you mute? How come you can speak again? You're a liar. I've been deceived by you for long enough."
Jun Lan: "What are you blabbering about? I'm telling you, I'm making a killing now. My uncle and his family are back, and I don't have to worry about food or clothing anymore."
Fat Auntie: "What happened to your little son now?"
Jun Lan: "I'm living in my uncle's house now and I'm doing pretty well!"
After the two of them had a long and tedious conversation, Jun Lan felt exhausted. She thought, "I should have stopped talking earlier. At least then I could have communicated with her. Now I have no idea what she means."
She quickly stuffed some money into the fat aunt's hand and planned to say goodbye so as to end this awkward reunion as soon as possible.
Suddenly, the sound of footsteps was heard in Aunt Fat's backyard.
When Aunt Fat heard the footsteps, she became furious and slammed the table.
"This stinky man is stealing again."
Aunt Fat took out a kitchen knife from the kitchen and ran straight to the backyard.
Jun Lan also followed and saw a strange man picking tobacco leaves from Aunt Pang's house.
The fat aunt yelled, "You shameless man, you stole my tobacco again while my husband was at the market?"
Strange man: "The tobacco leaf in my hand has your family's name written on it? If you call it, will it dare to answer you? Then what makes you say that I stole your tobacco leaves?"
The fat aunt raised the gleaming kitchen knife and said, "Just the knife in my hand."
She picked up a kitchen knife and chased after the strange man. The man probably didn't expect that the fat aunt would actually attack him for such a small amount of tobacco.
