Chapter 2: Scum on the Road to Escape 2

Feeling the vibration from the ground, An Jingzhi stopped, smiled slightly, and looked ahead.

Finally waited for it.

Although I was able to rely on enhancers to stay alive these days, I still couldn't avoid drinking a few mouthfuls of "porridge". The taste...

An Jingzhi curled the corners of his mouth and didn't want to recall it anymore.

Looking at the team of about a hundred people that appeared at the corner, all of them were strong men, holding weapons in their hands.

The An family was walking in the middle of the road, with no obstructions on either side, making it difficult for them to run.

"Brother Jing? It's really you!" Cheng Neng jumped off his horse, laughed heartily, and looked at An Jingzhi in surprise. After they had separated, they had never expected to meet again.

Cheng Neng is a brother who often hangs out with An Jingzhi in the county town. Unlike other drinking buddies, he truly regards the original owner as his elder brother.

At the beginning, the original owner took the silver given by An's mother to buy pens, ink, paper and inkstone, and was preparing to go to the city to eat and drink. On the way, he met Cheng Neng. Seeing his fierce look, the original owner was afraid of being robbed, so he threw a piece of cake in his arms to the other party.

Cheng Neng mistakenly thought that the original owner took pity on him and gave him the bread. This bread was life-saving food for Cheng Neng at that time.

Later, the bandit group that the original owner joined was defeated by Cheng Neng and his men and he met Cheng Neng.

Originally, Cheng Neng wanted to recommend him to get a job under Commander Zhu, but the original owner's family knew his own business. If he dared to fool the commander who was in charge of tens of thousands of people, he would probably be hacked to death.

After rejecting his kindness, Cheng Neng relied on his bully power in the county and finally dared to attack the daughter of the rebel leader, thinking that the matter had been settled. In the end, the girl fought desperately but was strangled to death by the original owner. Cheng Neng pleaded for him and was willing to be cannon fodder with the original owner and die on the battlefield.

"Cheng Neng? It's you, kid."

After the two of them reminisced about the past, Cheng Neng said, "Brother Jing, you've seen me. I've joined the rebel army and am serving under Commander Zhu. Why don't you join us? Commander Zhu is a skilled fighter, but he never criticizes his men harshly, nor does he rob civilians. He's unlike other rebels."

What Cheng Neng said was true. In the original owner's memory, this was an uprising army that did not harm the common people, had strict military discipline, and was more like an official army than the official army.

"Commander Zhu doesn't have many scholars under his command right now. If you join him, Commander Zhu will definitely welcome you."

The original owner was a worthless scholar. When he was a child, he studied in a private school for a few days but later he felt tired and stopped going. He even used this as an excuse to deceive his family for three years. He asked An's mother for a lot of money, saying that he wanted to buy pens, ink and paper. Later, he stopped because he couldn't deceive anymore.

But he would definitely brag about his only younger brother. In the eyes of this honest and uneducated boy, Brother Jing was a powerful man who knew everything.

Among the various rebel forces in the original owner's memory, if anyone could conquer the world, An Jingzhi felt that it would have to be this person.

The whole family was frightened by the sudden appearance of a group of bandits in front of them. They were trembling with fear and were still in a panic. They did not expect that the leader of the bandits actually knew their youngest son (third brother and third uncle) and even started chatting with him.

My anxious mood suddenly calmed down a lot.

In his heart, he was thankful that Jingzhi loved making friends, so this was of use. Otherwise, God knows what would have happened to their family.

Qian secretly swore in her heart that she would never say that her third brother was idle and lazy again!

After being persuaded by An Jingzhi, the family changed their route and followed Cheng Neng to Lan County, the county they occupied. It took them two days to finally arrive.

As soon as you approach the city gate, you can see the lush green seedlings outside. The land has been cultivated flatly. Many people are coming in and out of the city gate. Everything is in order.

If we didn't know in advance that this was a den of thieves, who would have thought that this was not a county town under the jurisdiction of the imperial court?

The world is in chaos now, and ordinary people like them don’t understand the difference between an imperial court and a foreign court. For them, it doesn’t matter where they go, as long as they can live a stable life.

They agreed to come along, but they were still worried. What if the bandits attacked them directly if they didn't agree? It wasn't clear how close Jing Zhi was to the bandit leader, and An's father didn't dare gamble with his family's lives. He could only take it one step at a time.

But after seeing the scene at the city gate, the family's worries were mostly relieved. It seemed that these people wanted to live a good life.

After Cheng Neng asked his men to take An's father and mother to the residence he arranged, he took An Jingzhi to meet Commander Zhu.

"Father, this is where you will live." said the young soldier.

"Thank you, General." Father An said politely.

"How can I be considered a general? Don't be polite, father-in-law, just call me Xiao Zhao. If you need anything, you can tell me. Our centurion has instructed us to make good arrangements for you." The young man smiled naively, gave his address and left.

"Master, are we really going to live here?" Mother An looked at the yard and felt happy. Jingzhi was really capable, otherwise she was afraid that she would never be able to live in such a house in her life.

There are six rooms in total, plus a kitchen, and there's a piece of open space in the front where you can grow some vegetables. Even if you have a large family, you don't have to worry about not having enough space.

"Just stay here for now and see what Jingzhi says when he comes back in the evening." Father An looked at the arranged house and felt a little happy, but the situation was unclear now and he was not sure about the next step.

"I'm going to go out for a walk, you guys clean up first."

Father An planned to go out and find out what the situation was like in the county, otherwise he would always feel uneasy.

Qian and Zhao helped An's mother clean the house. The family didn't bring any gifts on the journey except a few pieces of clothing.

The few of them cleaned the house quickly, and An Muqing and An Yuantu were responsible for some of the heavy work.
