The sounds of cicadas and frogs could be heard in the village, but it was not peaceful.
Since An Jingzhi returned to the village, the shock he brought to the villagers has become greater day by day.
Li Shoucai's wife became happier and happier when she thought about the relationship between her daughter Li Xiaoxia and An Qingxin.
"Her father, you didn't let Xiaoxia be with Qingxing before because you were worried that Qingxing's family would be a burden. Look at what's happening now? She has an uncle who's a wealthy Hong Kong businessman."
"I don't know if he will still look down on our Xiaoxia in the future."
"If you ask me, they should have finished their work long ago. Now we can stay and help as relatives."
Li Shoucai himself was also upset. An Jingzhi's ability was greater than he had imagined.
Just looking at the attitudes of those leaders towards An Jingzhi, he felt very uncomfortable. A kid who escaped by smuggling came back more than ten years later and transformed himself into a Hong Kong businessman who had to be treated politely by the leaders.
"That's enough," he said impatiently, "Children and grandchildren will have their own blessings. If it can't work out, it's just because they are not destined to be together. It proves that An Qingxin is a man who loves the new and dislikes the old. He is unreliable and there is nothing to worry about."
After thinking for a while, he added, "Go to An's house tomorrow and see if there's anything you can help with."
Li Shoucai's old wife curled her lips. The old man was two-faced. Although he said it didn't matter, he must have regretted it in his heart a long time ago.
"Okay, you don't even need to tell me that. I used to go to the An family often."
Other families in the village were also discussing settling down.
"How much money did An Jingzhi actually make? The county leaders are so polite. Things are definitely different from before."
"He's now a Hong Kong businessman, so he's definitely different from us who are struggling to make a living. If I had known that, I would have run away too."
"Bah, with your tiny body, you probably won't make it back alive."
"Didn't you listen to what Old Lady An said tonight? After An Jingzhi smuggled himself into Hong Kong Island, he was sold to an illegal coal mine. He worked there for several years before escaping. If he had been unlucky, he might have died in that illegal coal mine."
"That's true. The environment in Hong Kong Island is different from here. Only someone as thoughtful as An Jingzhi can survive."
"When the county leaders returned today, they looked very happy. What did An Jingzhi say to them? We were too far away to hear clearly."
"Whatever he says, it has nothing to do with him. But seriously, the movie tonight was really good. With the TV and DVD player, I can watch movies anytime I want. It's really convenient."
The An family, the center of everyone's discussion, was still busy putting these expensive electrical appliances in order.
The whole family was under the control of Zhang Weifen. Sometimes they said they wanted to put the things here, and sometimes they were worried that they would be stolen and wanted to move them to another place.
Zhang Weifen originally wanted to tell An Jingzhi when he unloaded the things, but there were too many people at home, and then the county leaders came, so she kept it to herself.
"How much electricity will it cost to use so many electrical appliances?" Her heart ached just thinking about it.
She felt happy and sad at the same time. When she thought about how she had washed a lot of clothes just to show off by letting others try out her washing machine, her heart ached even more.
"What's the point of buying this refrigerator? There's nothing else to put in the house, and there's this TV—"
"Well, it's Jingzhi's good intention. What does your constant talk make Jingzhi think? Is being filial to one's parents wrong?"
"Our son is back, so what's wrong with spending some money on electricity? My hands are covered in chilblains from washing clothes in the winter, so having this washing machine makes it much more convenient."
An Dapeng interrupted her complaints and happily sat in the wheelchair his son bought for him, pushing the wheelchair around and sometimes helping out.
Zhang Weifen stopped complaining immediately. She was not really unhappy, but she was just accustomed to thinking about these things in the most cost-effective way. This was a habit she had developed over the years.
An Jingzhi sat happily by and watched the whole family plan the electrical appliances over and over again, trying to find the most suitable place to put them.
He originally wanted to help with the work, but was held down by Zhang Weifen and An Dapeng, who told him to sit down and rest, and leave the work to the eldest brother's family as they were stronger.
"Mom, I have money. You guys can just take care of our retirement from now on. You don't have to worry about these little things anymore."
An Kangtai felt a little guilty when he heard this. His parents had been with him for so many years, but he had never let them enjoy a single day of life. He worked even harder to move things.
"Okay, okay," An Dapeng said with a smile, "From now on, your mother and I will rely on you."
Originally, after An Jingzhi played the victim, they felt that although An Jingzhi had some money, it was not much.
After another conversation in the evening, and with Jia Likun's additional comments, they finally believed that An Jingzhi had indeed opened several companies, had no worries about food and clothing, and had spare money to invest in the mainland.
An Dapeng sat happily in the wheelchair, his eyes scanning the appearance of his family one by one. He felt that even if he died now, he would have no regrets.
"Don't spend your money recklessly," Zhang Weifen warned. "Son, all the money you earn is hard-earned money. I don't want it from you, so save it for yourself."
An Jingzhi was at a loss whether to laugh or cry, and he did not forcefully say how much money he would give them. Anyway, he would most likely stay with his parents in the future, and he would have plenty of opportunities to be filial to them.
The next day, Master Sun drove them to the train station.
An Jingzhi took An Yuru and Chen Youzhen to Hong Kong Island for surgery.
Chen Youzhen was a little uneasy along the way, but fortunately she had her daughter with her, which made her feel at ease.
As soon as I got off the plane, there were several black cars waiting outside.
When Chen Youzhen suddenly saw this scene, she felt a little scared. These people were all big and strong, and looked scary. She didn't expect that they would be so honest in front of her brother-in-law.
