An Jingzhi told Cui Jiansheng about the letter he wrote to the village chief and mailed it to him, including asking Cui Jiansheng for money.
Tian Caifeng was stunned and didn't say anything for a long time.
"Mom, the higher you go in school, the more tuition you'll need. We can't keep living like this. The uncles, aunts, and grandparents in the village aren't rich either, and that man already owes us."
"It's only natural for me to ask him for money."
An Jingzhi patiently explained, "He hasn't replied in the past few days. Logically, there should be some news. I guess he's unwilling to give up, so he might come to our village. When that happens, the first person he looks for will be you."
"Mom, you can't be fooled by his sweet words anymore. This money is not only yours, but also Grandpa's, and even more so mine. We also owe the money for the Spring Festival couplets for so many years, and it's time to pay it back."
An Jingzhi wasn't sure whether Tian Caifeng had listened to him, so he finished the call.
Tian Caifeng just lowered her head and said dejectedly, "I understand," then returned to her room.
The door was still locked tightly and I couldn't get in.
An Jingzhi could only hope that Tian Caifeng had truly come to her senses.
If Tian Caifeng really lost her mind by then, then he would have no choice but to force her. The original owner was a foolishly filial person, so foolishly filial that he exposed himself to being shot. But he was not like that.
…
Cui Jiansheng got off the ox cart in a panic. He had asked for leave from the factory, saying he wanted to go home.
We rode a ox cart all the way to Huaxing Village.
He was holding two packages in his hands, a can of malted milk in his left hand and White Rabbit milk candy in his right hand.
After much deliberation, he decided to come to Huaxing Village in person to deal with Tian Caifeng.
Before coming, he deliberately put on his most decent clothes, but he looked a little disheveled because of the bumpy journey.
He brushed off the dust on his pants and cursed: "What a damn place! If it weren't for this brat, I wouldn't have come here."
He walked and cursed all the way, looking at Huaxing Village which had remained the same for decades, and he felt even more fortunate for the decision he had made.
If I had stayed in this place, I would have just become a farmer working hard in the fields. How could I have the prestige of a small cadre like today?
People chatting at the village entrance saw Cui Jianxin.
"Who is this person?"
"He's dressed respectably, could he be an official?"
"Why does he look familiar to me?"
Grandma Qiao suddenly slapped her thigh. "I remember now. Isn't this that bastard Cui Jiansheng? Why is he in our village?!"
Others also remembered it.
Cui Jiansheng has not suffered much over the years thanks to his father-in-law, and his expression has not changed much.
Although he looked down on these country people, Cui Jiansheng was able to lower his head since he was here to do business.
He greeted everyone with a polite smile on his face.
But Grandma Qiao and the others didn't treat him well.
"Cui Jiansheng, you bastard, how dare you come to our village!"
"That's right, you took away the two hundred yuan from the old Tian family, leaving behind an orphan and a widow. Aren't you afraid of God's punishment?"
"Go call someone!"
Cui Jiansheng was pointed at and scolded by everyone, but he didn't dare to say anything back and felt very angry.
"I'm here to see the mother and son, auntie, you don't know the situation. I have my own difficulties." He pretended to be very aggrieved.
Everyone can see how Tian Caifeng has been living these past ten years, and they don't approve of the way he's been.
"What grievances have you suffered, you son of a bitch? What hardship could have led you to kill your father-in-law?"
No matter how Cui Jiansheng explained, no one believed him. Instead, they spitted and scolded him until his face was covered with spit. He dodged in disgust and was covered in dirt.
I finally managed to escape from the encirclement of several old ladies.
Cui Jiansheng hurried to Tian Caifeng's house in a panic.
Only An Jingzhi was at home, and Tian Caifeng was still in school.
But now someone was calling him to go home.
An Jingzhi saw this strange man and then looked at the two packages in his hands. The other person had a hypocritical smile on his face.
"You are Jingzhi, right? You have grown up so much?" He smiled like a father and walked into the yard of his home like the master of his own house.
"You've suffered a lot over the years. You blame me, and I understand. But you have to know that I have my own difficulties."
"This is the White Rabbit candy and malted milk Dad bought for you. You haven't tried it yet, right? Kids in the city love it."
I originally wanted to buy some fruit candies to fool him, but when I thought about how this kid actually dared to ask the villagers to write letters to him, I knew that this was not an easy thing to deal with.
I could only reluctantly buy a small bag of White Rabbit candy and a can of malted milk.
An Jingzhi glanced at him calmly without getting up from the stool, "Did you bring the money?"
The smile on Cui Jiansheng's face froze, and then he said with a painful look: "Jingzhi, Dad knows that you and your son are in trouble, but it's not easy for Dad either. What happened between me and your mother can't be explained in a few words. You are still young and don't know it."
"I haven't contacted your mother since Dad passed away, so she didn't know how difficult our family's situation was," he said, taking out two big unity notes from his pocket.
"This is what your father gave you. Keep it for yourself. Use it to buy anything you want to eat."
Cui Jiansheng moved a stool and sat next to An Jingzhi, placing all the packages in his hands on the small table.
"What I want is eight hundred." An Jingzhi said lightly without even looking at the things on the table.
Cui Jiansheng cursed in his heart: Why is this kid so difficult to deal with?
Normally, a young boy like him wouldn't even see a big unity ticket, but he already got two, a total of twenty, and this kid was still so calm.
