Chapter 13 Meeting the Parents

Liu Aidang returned in November. When he arrived home, he was limping with a cane, his shoes were worn out, his feet were covered in blisters and blood blisters, and he looked disheveled. He had fled from the famine, which startled his parents.

I only found out later that at the beginning, everyone was rushing to Beijing, and the scene was quite spectacular.

However, Liu Aidang always remembered Liu Yun's words when she scolded him. He went to Beijing and started traveling back and forth, only visiting a few places along the way and not going to many other places.

As a result, he was also lucky; he was already in the province when the transportation system was paralyzed, and he only walked through a few cities.

If he had traveled to a few more places, he would have been in the north. If he had walked back from the north, how long would it have taken? Now Liu Aidang is extremely grateful to his second sister. If it weren't for her words, he might not have made it home even by the time the New Year arrived.

Seeing Liu Aidang like this, Liu Yun could only laugh. She had never seen anyone walk such a long distance before. You know, he only walked through a few cities, but it took him more than a month! He has perseverance.

Ever since Liu Aidang came back, he won't go out no matter who asks him to. This is a lesson she will remember for the rest of her life.

Winter is here, and with Yu Qianhe joining us this year, Liu Yun hasn't been able to cook as much groceries at home. She usually stays home quietly, but her own benefits are quite good.

Liu's mother didn't really want her to do anything speculative, but seeing that she always brought back agricultural products and defective goods, she guessed that she was exchanging them with villagers nearby, so she didn't stop her.

Looking at Liu Yun, who was wearing black pants and black leather shoes, a white turtleneck sweater, and a camel coat she had just bought from the department store, with her hair in a high bun and her eyes smiling, I was a little reluctant to let her go back.

"Ah Yun, let's get married."

Liu Yun turned her head and saw his eyes. They were filled with only her, bright and full of passion and determination. His face was full of gentle smiles, and he exuded a husbandly aura that captivated Liu Yun. In a moment of impulse, she agreed.

Ever since she agreed to marry him, Yu Qianhe had been urging her to go back with him to meet his family. She couldn't put it off any longer, so she had no choice but to agree. But as soon as she agreed, she regretted it, but she couldn't say anything. She was very frustrated.

On Friday, after dinner, I told my mother about it, "Mom, Yu Qianhe wants me to go to his house for dinner on Sunday."

Upon hearing this, Liu's mother paused. She had asked about it once before and then there had been no follow-up, so she thought the matter had fallen through. She didn't expect it to work out.

"Don't go empty-handed. What's his family situation?" The Liu family members became interested when they heard this, especially Xu Hongxing. If Liu Yun's marriage wasn't good, she could laugh it off. If possible, she could also help out her family, because she felt that Liu Yun was more family-oriented than Liu Jing.

If Liu Yun knew what she was up to, she would probably laugh out loud. After Liu Jing got married, she gave Liu's parents every penny she was owed. However, perhaps knowing that Liu Yun would buy food, she never gave them any food during holidays or birthdays, except for the New Year's gifts from Xiao Zhihua. Instead, she would buy clothes, pants, and shoes for Liu's parents. The eldest son's family never got any benefit from her.

Liu Yun bought the grain mainly because there was plenty in the space, it was free, and the food at home was too poor for her to eat. Taking some free things meant she didn't have to cook or do housework, and she was happy to have ready-made food. In short, both sides felt they got a good deal. As for whether she would get any more benefits in the future, that was definitely not the case.

On the other hand, Liu Yun felt a bit helpless when she heard her mother ask about the Yu family. At first, she flirted with Yu Qian mostly on a whim, and also because of Yu's father and the status of the eldest son in the Yu family. But now that it's time to talk about marriage, she herself feels that they are not a good match, but it seems that she can't back out now.

Liu Yun has given up all hope. She never wanted to get married in the first place, but in this day and age, not getting married is simply unrealistic. Having accepted this reality, Liu Yun just wants to keep her private life private; this is her escape route, and she won't tell anyone.

"He himself works as a technician in a machinery factory. His father is the director of the Municipal Public Security Bureau, his mother is the director of the Women's Federation of the Municipal Women's Federation, his eldest brother is serving in the army, and his sister-in-law is with him. His second brother is a doctor at the Municipal People's Hospital, and his sister-in-law is a nurse. His third brother is an accountant at the Municipal Textile Factory, and his sister-in-law is a primary school teacher."

After hearing Liu Yun's words, the Liu family gasped. Liu's parents were worried; their third daughter might not have a happy life marrying into such a family. Xu Hongxing was jealous, but also had her own ulterior motives, hoping to build a connection. Liu Aidang, on the other hand, was amazed and impressed; his two older sisters were truly formidable. Liu Yun observed all of this.

Liu's mother sighed, "Is it really him? You've made up your mind? With his conditions, his family might look down on us. Will you be able to live a comfortable life in the future? You four sisters-in-law will be the worst off." Liu's mother still had confidence in her youngest daughter's face, but as her mother-in-law, she probably wouldn't like her too much.

"Ah! What do you mean you've made up your mind? I just want to go and see him. He wants both families to meet, but I haven't decided yet. Mom, why think so much? If his family is difficult to get along with, we can just find another one."

"You brat, what are you saying! Are you trying to be a pervert?" Seeing her daughter like this, Liu's mother breathed a sigh of relief. Judging from what her daughter had done before, she knew that this girl didn't like to be taken advantage of.

"I'll give you some money and tickets later. Go buy some tea and pastries tomorrow. Don't go empty-handed."

"Forget about the money, but I don't have any tickets. Just give me the tickets."

Speaking of tea, Liu Yun also grew tea in his space, but he didn't know how to roast tea. He tried once and gave the roasted tea to his father to drink. Even this rough man knew that it wouldn't work, so he gave up. It was a story full of bitter tears.
