That evening, as soon as Yu Qian and Liu Yun returned home, they told him about Yu's father coming to see a doctor.
Liu Yun: "I don't know which hospital or doctor is good at this. I just asked Qiao Ying and she agreed to help me make an appointment. Should I go to Xiangyi Hospital first, or do you have a better recommendation?"
Yu Qianhe: "I don't know either. I'll have to find out. Let's just wait and see!"
Liu Yun: "Okay, then I'll go and get everything done tomorrow morning, and then we can go directly there when Dad and the others arrive at noon."
Hearing Liu Yun's well-organized arrangements, Yu Qian tightened his arms around her, buried his head in her neck, and whispered, "Thank you, wife."
Liu Yun: "Alright, stop being so dramatic with me."
Yu Qianhe: "I've been quite busy lately, so I might not be able to get time off."
Liu Yun: "I can handle this, don't worry! Okay, it's getting late, you've been tired lately, and you have to get up early tomorrow, so get some rest!"
The next morning, after breakfast, Liu Yun started packing. There were quite a few clothes and other items belonging to her parents. The room had been left untouched, only covered with a dust cloth.
The weather is pretty good today, so we should air out the blankets and other things. Judging from Yu's mother's tone, she thinks that Yu's father's illness must be quite serious, and he will definitely have to stay in the hospital for quite a while.
I received a call from Yu's mother right after breakfast; she said she would arrive around noon.
After tidying up the room, she started preparing lunch. She seemed to have heard somewhere in her past life that people with rheumatism couldn't eat fish, shrimp, crab, seafood, and the like.
She can't eat fish, and she still doesn't know how to kill chickens, ducks, or geese. Luckily, there are some frozen in the freezer, the kind that are chopped up and frozen, so thawing them by soaking them in water is quite quick.
The chicken is used for stewing, and a few quails are killed to make soup. A few loofahs are also prepared to be used to stir-fry eggs. The vegetables and fruits are also washed.
Liu Yun pressure-cooked the food to keep it warm, while the quail soup was simmered slowly in a clay pot on a coal stove. When it was almost time, Liu Yun went out.
She picked up the person not long after, but Liu Yun couldn't help but frown when she saw Yu's father's appearance.
The usually robust old man was now leaning on a cane with one hand and being supported by his mother with the other. Liu Yun had never seen her father like this before; he couldn't even stand on his own.
Seeing this, Liu Yun quickly went over to help him up. "Mom and Dad, I'm so sorry! Qianhe has been so busy these past two days that he couldn't get any time off. But I've made all the arrangements. Let's go back and have dinner first, and then we'll go to the hospital."
Yu's mother knew that her youngest son was busy and understood. Besides, it was the same as having her daughter-in-law. "It's okay, it's the same with you here."
Liu Yun: "Let's go back and eat first!"
Mother: "Okay."
After returning home and having lunch, Liu Yun called Qiao Ying to confirm, and then took Yu's parents to the hospital.
Liu Yun rarely comes to the internal medicine department because her family members are rarely sick.
Dr. Zhang was a small old man in his sixties. Qiao Ying had already explained to him that he understood the situation after taking his pulse.
"It's best to be hospitalized. If it's close to home, you can stay at home. You'll need acupuncture, moxibustion, injections, and hot compresses every day for the next few days."
Upon hearing this, Liu Yun decisively decided to be hospitalized. "Okay, I'll go pay the fees and get admitted."
Our home is quite a distance from here; it takes about an hour by bus. Besides, my father can hardly walk on his own now, so it's more convenient for him to be hospitalized.
Liu Yun wasn't short of money. She was already feeling uncomfortable in the hospital, so she decided to get a private room so that at least she could have some peace and quiet.
After Liu Yun ran around completing all the formalities, Yu's father also began acupuncture.
After settling everything in with her father, Liu Yun only needed to look after the IV drip before heading back home.
Unfortunately, Mr. and Mrs. Yu arrived in a hurry, and Mrs. Yu had to take care of Mr. Yu. Since they had plenty of changes of clothes here, they didn't bring any luggage.
Liu Yun still had to go back to prepare dinner. Since Yu's father would definitely have to stay up all night, and Yu Qian and the factory couldn't leave, she and Yu's mother had to take turns.
Tonight, Yu's mother is with her, but tomorrow it will be her turn. She has to go back and pack clothes and toiletries for Yu's parents.
She got home around 4 or 5 p.m., and didn't have time to cook, so she went straight to Uncle Yang's shop and ordered a few light dishes.
I made the beds and packed clothes and toiletries for the two of them. There was a bed for a caregiver in the single room, so I only needed to pack a change of clothes, pajamas, toothbrush, toothpaste, and towel for the two of them.
However, Liu Yun still picked out a set of bed sheets and blankets that she liked when she went out and stayed in hotels and put them inside.
When I got to the door, I suddenly remembered that I also needed to buy basins, buckets, and cups. But I had too many things to carry, so I decided to buy them near the hospital later.
However, although I didn't bring those, I did bring a lot of fruit to give to the two of them as snacks.
After packing her luggage, it was already past six o'clock. She didn't plan to eat at home anymore, so she took her small suitcase, lunchbox, and fruit to the hospital to eat together.
Anyway, Yu Qian and Dangdang and An'an won't be going back for dinner.
Liu Yun: "Dad, Mom, just make do with this for now. I didn't have time to cook this afternoon, so I just got two portions from a restaurant."
Mother Yu: "With such a tight schedule, a few bites will suffice. There's no need to go to all that trouble."
Yu's mother didn't believe Liu Yun's excuse of making do. As soon as Liu Yun opened the lunchbox, she knew that Yu's mother had guessed correctly.
Steamed pork with rice flour, stir-fried asparagus with pork, stir-fried green beans with pork, and a tomato and egg soup—if this is considered a makeshift meal, then what they usually eat can only be described as pickled vegetables.
Mother Yu: "We'll clean these up later. You haven't eaten yet, have you? Come and eat something first, or the food will get cold. You've been running around all afternoon. Your friend was busy with you all afternoon too. Next time, you must invite her over for a meal. I'll cook, and you can thank her properly."
