Chapter 2 Work

When Liu Aiguo said at the dinner table that his girlfriend didn't want a bride price, Liu Yun thought to herself, "Just as I thought," and felt a sense of relief that it had finally come to pass.

Sure enough, the family was furious when they heard that they didn't want a bride price but wanted a job. Especially Liu's mother and Liu Aidang. Liu Aiguo's salary had already cost them over a hundred yuan after it became a permanent job. Not to mention that jobs are hard to find now, even if they could, they would cost four or five hundred yuan. The family only had so much money, and the two brothers knew that. Not to mention Liu Aidang, Liu's mother was also unhappy.

The atmosphere at home was extremely tense after the meal, and Liu Jing was also sullen. Although her mother treated her well, she couldn't compare to her son. You could tell from Liu Jing's constant muttering that she was scheming.

However, it has nothing to do with Liu Yun. The pressure isn't on her now; she can eat and drink as she pleases.

"Eldest son, what exactly are you planning to do? You know our family's situation. We've used all our connections, favors, and relationships, and even spent a lot of your promotion money. Now, where do we have the ability to find her a job?" Liu's father said, puffing on his old cigarette.

"Then, Mom, could you give your job to Hongxing? We'll be getting married soon and have a baby, then you can stay home and take care of your grandchild."

Liu's mother stood up abruptly. "Eldest brother, did she say that? What, is she threatening me? If you can make it work, then make it work; if you can't, then don't. As for my job, don't even think about it."

At this moment, Liu's mother was still too slow to react and didn't think much of it, assuming it was Xu Hongxing's idea. Little did she know that this was Liu Aiguo's own thought. Liu's mother hadn't realized that her child had grown up and had his own selfish desires.

Liu Aidang was also indignant, glaring at the eldest brother with eyes blazing with anger, "What, Liu Aiguo? You're the only one in the family who has to live. The family provides money and effort for your job, and now they're even eyeing Mom's job. Does that mean we younger ones don't have to live? You've taken all the benefits."

Liu Aidang had long considered Xu's mother's job as his own. He knew his own capabilities well, and besides, he had spent a lot of money and connections to get his eldest son's job. Everyone knew how limited the family's possessions were, and no one was stupid enough to think that jobs were hard to find.

Not to mention Liu Aidang, even Liu Yun was surprised. This is the male lead? Does he think everyone else is stupid? The Liu family is just an ordinary family with limited resources. Is he trying to take it all for himself? That's too selfish! But thinking about the original owner's job, he really is a selfish person.

Father Liu exhaled the cigarette that had been in his mouth for a while, tapped the pipe on the table, and said firmly, "Eldest son, the fourth son is still young. The family should leave him something. To tell you the truth, we've used up almost all our connections to find you a job. This is a backup plan for the fourth son. Tell her not to overthink it. If you insist on this and still want to get married, then you'll have to figure it out yourselves!"

Since they were both men, Liu's mother didn't immediately see through Liu Aiguo's little scheme, but Liu's father understood it at a glance.

"Alright." Mr. Liu patted Mrs. Liu on the shoulder. "Go to sleep early, you've had a long day."

And so the meeting ended on a sour note.

However, none of this matters much to Liu Yun now. This month, she even gave her homeroom teacher a chicken and received a positive response. She's pretty much guaranteed a job after graduation, though she doesn't know if it will be good or bad.

As expected, the power of the plot is strong. One day, Liu Yun was carrying a basket of wild vegetables when she passed by a grove of trees and heard the voices of a young couple next to her.

"You need to study hard these next few days. The textile factory has an exam this Friday. Most of the students are children of factory workers. They'll post a notice this morning, so go and register. Once you pass the exam and become a worker, my mom will definitely agree to let me marry you."

"Okay, I will definitely try my best to pass."

It seems God was truly afraid that her own daughter would suffer; how could she allow this to happen?

Liu Yun recognized the girl; her father was the director of the educated youth office, and the man was probably the son of the textile factory's union director.

They're all celebrities at school, how could their parents disagree with such a marriage? That's outrageous!

If I remember correctly, Xu Hongxing was a temporary worker at the textile factory. It was like God was chasing after him to feed him!

Since God has delivered this pie right to our doorstep, there's no reason not to take it.

On Friday, Liu Yun took the day off and squatted at the entrance of the textile factory, waiting for the notice to be posted. Sure enough, half an hour before the end of the workday, someone slowly took the notice and posted it. Liu Yun waited for five minutes before rushing out to register.

As expected, the person who posted the notice was surprised to see Liu Yun. They didn't expect someone to be so lucky. The notice was just for show and would be taken down soon. They didn't expect someone to actually come across it. Although it was ostensibly a job posting, everyone knew it was just a formality.

But they still gave Liu Yun a registration form, told her the time of the afternoon exam, tore down the notice, and left.

The notice was posted and torn down in less than twenty minutes, so it's like God was chasing after his own daughter to feed her.
