Chapter 44 It's Chinese New Year

Actually, these are not difficult things to know; it's just that she wasn't in charge of the household before.

Old Mrs. Wang was an adult, but because she had been in poor health for many years, she was well-fed at home and served the best food and drinks. She would only eat refined grains when she could eat coarse grains. The coarse grains in her house were basically eaten by Wang Meifen alone.

Even if Old Mrs. Wang occasionally pretended to eat poorly in front of Wang Meifen, it was all for Wang Meifen's benefit. In secret, she would eat a lot of good food, and then pretend to be sick so she could openly eat well again.

The three boys in the family were at the age of rapid growth, and as the saying goes, "half-grown boys can eat their fathers out of house and home." Moreover, they were running around wildly every day. With three big eaters, her family naturally had a harder time making ends meet.

Wang Meifen quickly figured it out, but she wasn't thinking about her own son; she was thinking about her vicious old hag, her mother-in-law. She was willing to let her son eat as much as he wanted, but her mother-in-law... well, if only she could just get out of there!

If she had known it would turn out this way, she would have ignored that wicked old hag long ago. Now that she had more money, Wang Meifen felt more relaxed. Although her three sons were in juvenile detention, which separated the family, life wasn't as hard, and she wasn't under as much pressure. Now she just needed to work hard to earn money and wait for her sons to come back.

However, she still had to pretend to appease the old woman. She must still have a lot of things in her possession. Although she was selfish, she was quite generous to her grandson. She had to make her give all of these things back first.

On New Year's Eve, the courtyard was filled with a wonderful fragrance early in the morning.

It was either stewed fish or chopped meat, and there were lively firecracker sounds from children on the street.

However, none of this concerned Liu Yun. After finishing breakfast, washing the dishes, and changing into their newly made clothes, the two of them leisurely made their way to the Yu family home with two sets of clothes and shoes. Most of the things had been prepared yesterday, and the rest could not be left undone by their two older brothers and sisters-in-law! The two of them were dressed warmly enough to keep them from getting cold, so they were in no hurry at all.

When we arrived at the Yu family home, the second brother and sister-in-law, as well as the third brother and sister-in-law, were all busy at work. The Yu father and mother were playing with the baby.

"Come on, Dad, let Mom try on these clothes to see if they fit. They're made of new cotton and they're warm. New year, new look! These shoes are warm too, come and try them on!" Liu Yun joked with her mother as soon as she entered the door.

"You've made clothes again. That's four sets of clothes and four pairs of shoes this year. You can keep them for making clothes for yourself."

Mother Yu couldn't help but feel gratified when she saw the clothes. None of his sons had ever bought him clothes, nor had his father; they always gave him money. But this youngest daughter-in-law always provided him with a new outfit every season, even in their past life. In their past life, their relationship wasn't this good, but she and her husband always had a new outfit and a pair of shoes every season and on their birthdays, never missing a day. However, it was always her son who provided the clothes. But he knew his own son well; he had never thought of this before they got married for over twenty years. How could he have known after they got married? It must have been his youngest daughter-in-law who prepared them.

The two tried on the clothes but didn't wear them, afraid of getting them dirty, but they did put on the shoes.

Father Yu was also very happy. Among his daughters-in-law, although this youngest daughter-in-law was the most extravagant, she was also the most capable. In Father Yu's opinion, it was only right for women to spend money. If anyone said that, it meant that her husband was incompetent and couldn't even support his own wife. He thought this youngest daughter-in-law was the best. She was never stingy and was generous in her actions.

"Mom, what's for lunch?" Beibei asked, hugging her mother tightly after taking her from her arms.

"I'll stew a rabbit. Don't you like stews with potatoes in them? Peel a few more potatoes and put them in later. Wait, are you teasing a child or a cat/dog? This is ridiculous! It's all drool. If she cries, you'll have to comfort her yourself. It's the New Year, so don't mess with her." Yu's mother was speechless at her daughter's complete lack of maternal instincts. Was this how she raised her children in her past life? How could she be so annoying!

Liu Yun held the child and put a dried apple near Bei Bei's mouth. She would take it away and tease her repeatedly as Bei Bei kept opening her mouth to eat it. Because Bei Bei wanted to eat it, she kept opening her mouth and crying out, her mouth full of saliva.

As soon as Liu Yun started cooking, she left the child with Yu Shan and went to the kitchen to help (and sneak a bite). After all, everyone was busy, and it wouldn't be right for her to sit and play alone.

"Mmm, it smells so good! Mom, your cooking is amazing! By the way, Mom, you'll have someone to take care of the baby now. Aunt Luo handed over her job to her daughter, and she'll start after the New Year. But she wasn't assigned to our department; she'll be working as a sales clerk." Liu Yun knew her mother-in-law loved gossip, so she chatted with her about it.

“The main problem is that her eldest daughter-in-law is about to give birth and needs to be taken care of during her postpartum period. Although her daughter still has six months until graduation, she can work first and then go back to school to take the exams after graduation. Isn’t there no other way? You should all thank me. If it weren’t for me, your lives wouldn’t be so easy. Otherwise, you would have to work, take care of the children, manage the household chores, and worry about where to live. You wouldn’t have the easy life you have now.” Mother Yu was mainly saying this to her second and third daughters-in-law, since they had always taken her sacrifices for granted in her previous life.

But Liu Yun didn't know this. She just felt that what Yu's mother said made a lot of sense. You see, it had been two years since the triplets were born, and she hadn't spent even half the time taking care of them. She just put them to sleep at night, but Yu Qianhe did most of the work at night. She only provided some food, which was all grown in her space and didn't cost any money. She also liked growing vegetables. To put it bluntly, she spent more time and effort in her space than in taking care of the triplets. The main reason was that Yu's mother took very good care of the children.

"Mom, I know you're the best to us. I'm so lucky to have such a wonderful mother-in-law like you. I'm such a lucky person! I married an excellent man and have such a good mother-in-law. I'm a true winner in life."
