Chapter 1

In the audition room, directors, producers, and investors sat around the table discussing the artists being interviewed.

Several small artists whose names could not be heard in the entertainment industry were lined up at the door. Most of them did not have agents with them. At most, they had assistants arranged by the agents. Like the artists, they were wandering in the waiting area outside the corridor, looking a little anxious.

Producer: "Can you choose these roles today? Lao Wang, you have to give me a definite answer."

Director Wang Chi stared at the artist's self-introduction form in his hand and was silent for a while. "If everything goes well--"

Producer: “…”

"Old Wang, you told me this yesterday, and the day before yesterday, but you still haven't even chosen a third female role. What do you think—" He stared at Wang Chi with a bit of anger and helplessness, making Wang Chi feel guilty for two seconds, and then said confidently: "Can you blame me for this? The third female role requires beauty that can make fish sink to the bottom of the water and geese fall to the ground, and beauty that is unparalleled in coldness. Tell me how many people out there can live up to these two adjectives?"

Wang Chi's words made more and more sense: "I didn't write the novel. You asked me to direct the play, so I have to respect the original work. At least my appearance can't be so bad that it's lost in the crowd, right?"

He was not harsh. He pointed at the script beside him with one hand and said, "The third female lead is said to be the most beautiful woman in the novel. If you pick an ordinary woman to act in the movie, the fans will criticize me first."

The producer was helpless and turned his gaze to the investor next to him, saying helplessly, "Boss Cheng, what do you think?"

Lan held his chin up and watched the producer and director's verbal battle with great interest: "I think Director Wang is right. If you want to choose, pick a prettier one--"

The producer's face darkened, and he muttered, "According to his standards, it will take forever to find a winner."

He moved his butt left and right, unable to sit still any longer. Just then a phone call came in, so he said to Wang Chi and Pincheng Lan, "I'm going to answer the phone first, you guys watch first."

After opening the door and seeing that there was no one there, Wang Chi leaned back in his chair and said with emotion, "He must be angry because he couldn't get someone in."

Finished product blue said: "Stuffing people?"

As an investor, he could have not come to personally review the auditions. He came today because the producer called last night to complain about Wang Chi's "slow temper": he hadn't picked out the third female role in two whole days, and during that time he had rejected many self-recommendations from second- and third-tier actresses.

That's why he was sitting here early in the morning, listening to the two people arguing with each other. One complained that the director was too serious about casting and hadn't finished yet, while the other argued that he respected the original author and didn't want to be besieged by the fans of the book after the filming.

Wang Chi laughed: "On the first day of casting, he pushed a female college student in and said she wanted to audition for the role of the third female lead. The girl was a graduate student and hadn't even graduated yet. Her acting skills were just average and her looks were just so-so. I rejected her."

He shrugged again. It was obvious that Director Wang had been immersed in the industry for many years and had already mastered the skills of a veteran. He said rather shamelessly: "The third female role must be extremely beautiful. You can't let an ugly person play it, right?"

Finished product Lan did not comment much on what he called "not pretty".

Long before investing in this film, he had heard from some friends in the film and television industry that Wang Chi had extremely high requirements for casting, which was difficult for ordinary people to bear. But the movies made by this guy were also unique, winning many commercial film awards and achieving amazing box office results. I don't know how many people hated him for not accepting the "stuffing" trick, and how many people loved his amazing filming skills.

There is a saying in the circle: There is no commercial film shot by Director Wang that does not make money.

It was because of this that Pincheng Lan was willing to watch him drag out the filming process and fuss over every casting choice.

"So what do we do now? Are you not going to start filming if we don't find the right one?"

Lan checked his watch. It was 4:30 in the afternoon. He moved his lips and said, "The crew and the media said before that filming would start in early August. Today is July 30th. Can we choose the actors before August?"

Wang Chi fell silent.

He still had to give some face to the investors. After all, he still had to negotiate with them about the subsequent "cheating" budget. He hesitated: "...Uh, I'll try my best?"

Finished Blue sighed: "Okay, you decide."

"There are still a group of people outside who haven't been interviewed yet, right? Call them in for the interview."

He spoke at a steady pace: "I have something to do at six o'clock, and I have to leave before half past five."

Wang Chi made an OK gesture: "No problem."

Clapping his hands, Wang Chi stretched out his voice and shouted outside: "No. 037, come in for the interview!"

The interviews continued in full swing. The summer breeze at the end of July was extremely hot. About ten people were standing and sitting in an irregular pattern outside the corridor. There were artists auditioning and their assistants.

The clock hanging outside the audition room slowly moved to five o'clock.

The delivery man's voice came from outside the corridor: "Who is Mr. X with the last digit of the number 2228? The milk tea you ordered has arrived!"

In the audition room, Wang Chi glanced at the staff next to him and asked, "Did you order the milk tea?"

The staff nodded, "It's me, I'll go get it and bring some for you as well."

Wang Chi thanked him. The door of the audition room was wide open. There were only a few artists outside, and none of them looked very good. Wang Chi took a quick look and sighed. He was going to return empty-handed again today. He wondered if the investor, Master Cheng, would be angry that he was too slow in casting...

The thought flashed through his mind, and he hummed in a rather rogue manner: There is no way, who asked him to strive for perfection?

The delivery man had other orders in his hands, and nearly ten cups of milk tea in his hand. He heard the sound of receiving orders from his phone, which beeped twice. He lowered his head and looked at it while walking. There was also a bathroom next to the corridor. The sound of the water being turned off came from the women's bathroom. The delivery man lowered his head to look at his phone and didn't notice that the milk tea in his hand was about to hit someone -

The staff member shouted urgently: "Be careful! Hey!"

With a bang, the sound of the milk tea cup falling to the ground and exploding startled Wang Chi in the audition room.

He had been sitting for the whole afternoon, and his butt was sore. With such a loud noise outside, it was impossible for him not to hear it. Human beings like to watch and eat melons, so his eyes sparkled. "What's wrong? What's wrong?"

He put on his slippers and ran out to watch.

The delivery man apologized awkwardly: "Sorry, sorry, I didn't look at the road..."

The woman who was hit lowered her head. She was wearing an ill-fitting men's suit with an oversized white shirt underneath. It looked like a boyfriend style from a certain brand. Because it was too loose, half of her delicate collarbone was exposed. The milk tea that fell to the ground and spilled out stained half of her trouser legs.

Wang Chi took a quick glance at her legs and realized that the trousers this lady was wearing were also very men's suit trousers, which were very loose. The trouser legs were probably too long and were folded several times and pulled up.

Once the milk tea spilled, the pants were completely ruined.

He sighed in his heart: These pants look quite expensive, what a pity.

The staff member scolded, "How could you be so careless on such a short distance?" He said loudly, "The girl just came out of the toilet and got splashed all over. Do you have eyes?"

"I'm fine."

The milk tea lady raised her face and said three simple words, then said to the delivery man, "Just wash the clothes, it's my fault for not paying attention."

Her voice was cold, a little hoarse, and strangely pleasant. Wang Chi felt as if he had been struck by an electric current, and felt numb from the top of his head to his tailbone. His heart suddenly started beating faster, and his eyes were fixed on that face.

The brown-gray eyeballs are embedded in a slightly narrow and long eye shape, which are standard peach blossom eyes, but they appear restrained and cold because they never smile; the straight nose bridge, light red lips, delicate facial features, and a face only the size of a palm make her look like a lifelike doll.

It is still a very cool and outstanding real-life doll.

Wang Chi blinked, and blinked again.

He said calmly, "Miss, are you an artist here for an interview?"

Milk tea lady: “…”

She was confused for a second, then quickly shook her head.

Wang Chi: "Then you are an amateur? Are you interested in an interview? I am Wang Chi, and I am interviewing artists right now--"

Before he finished speaking, he heard footsteps coming from the top to the bottom of the stairwell, and then a voice came from the corridor: "Secretary Shen, where is Boss Yan?"

"I'm sorry, I couldn't get in touch with Mr. Yan either. He just hurriedly answered a phone call and left. I'll call him again now."

The milk tea lady reached into her pocket, quickly pressed the power button, and smiled calmly at Wang Chi: "Of course, where is the audition room?"

"That's it," Wang Chi pointed at the door and asked kindly, "Do you want to change your clothes?"

The young woman shook her head. She had a very cold face, but her smile was very charming. "It's okay."

"Can I come in?"

"Of course," Wang Chi signaled the staff to ask the corridor cleaner to deal with the milk tea that had spilled all over the floor. He was in a good mood because he had bumped into someone whose appearance matched his ideal of a female No. 3. He said to the staff, "Ask me to reimburse you for the milk tea. The delivery guy has worked hard, so let it go."

The delivery guy was flattered and thanked them.

Finally, he whispered to the woman who had half entered the audition room: "I'm sorry, I scared you."

She just nodded.

When I walked into the audition room, a voice from the corridor was faint: "Boss Lin, Boss Yan's phone is turned off..."

"I was thinking of inviting Mr. Yan to dinner..." Mr. Lin, who had just been discussing business face to face more than ten minutes ago, said with regret as his voice gradually faded away.

The door to the audition room slammed shut.

Yan Yongwang breathed a sigh of relief. He naturally stroked his sleeves which were too long. He lowered his head and then looked up again, and he saw a familiar face in the audition room.

Chengjia's young master, Pincheng Lan, raised his eyebrows and asked Director Wang curiously, "Is this also an artist here for an interview?"

Wang Chi winked at him and laughed, "Yes!"

He squeezed in and sat next to Lan, whispering in his ear: "It's the beauty I just caught while watching the fun!"

Lan, who has been immersed in the entertainment industry for many years, looked at the woman in front of him and commented: "She is indeed a rare beauty."

"Which company's artist is this?"

"Just now she said she's not an artist, but an amateur." After Wang Chi finished speaking, he saw Lan's thoughtful expression and laughed: "I remember your brother opened an agency?"

Finished Product Blue smiled and said, "Well, I opened a shop."

He didn't say anything else, and told the staff to give her the script, and signaled Wang Chi to order the audition clip.

Yan Yongwang took the script, which read "The Ruthless Way" on the cover. He flipped through two more pages and fell into a trance.

——He is the fourth generation of the Yan family and the current president, but he has never acted in a play for more than 20 years.

——Now, you are going to act as a transformed woman?

He was struck by confusion and bewilderment as he stood in this room, having avoided the adverse incident of his clothes being recognized by his secretary and business partners in the corridor a few moments ago, and now had to face the current acting crisis.

Danger!

How to act?

President Yan was silent for a long time, then raised his hand and asked, "Is it too late to quit now?"
