After Su Yiqing and Li Mo'er took the four little ones, Xiao Ruanruan, to Chongqing by private plane, Su Yiqing immediately switched to a regular minivan and drove himself to Qingquan Village.

The road from Chongqing to Renyi County was flat and mostly highway. After chatting and admiring the scenery for a while, the four little ones got sleepy and fell asleep in their car seats.

When they woke up again, they were jolted awake.

The moment Su Xiaowu woke up, she gripped the car seat tightly and, still a little groggy, shouted, "Earthquake! Run!"

His howl instantly woke everyone else up.

Sisi frantically tried to get up and run away, and instinctively grabbed the little girl next to her, saying, "Little girl, there's an earthquake, run!"

Little Ruanruan kicked her short legs, which were dangling outside the car seat, a couple of times, and seemed a little flustered.

Only Su Lei remained calm. "There was no earthquake. It's just that this road isn't paved, and it just rained, so there are a lot of mud puddles, making it a bit bumpy. You should all sit still."

Li Mo'er turned around in the passenger seat and looked at the little ones, "Are you hungry? Do you want something to eat?"

The road was even bumpier than before, and the four little ones were so shaken that they couldn't speak. Little Ruanruan and Qianqian, who were sitting in the front row, waved to Sister Mo'er. On such a bumpy road, even if they ate, they would be shaken to the point of vomiting.

Looking at the bumpy road, with mountains and forests on one side and a bottomless abyss with only clouds and mist on the other, Su Xiaowu's heart pounded in fear. Even though she was being jolted so much, she still managed to say intermittently, "Tyrant, are you any good at driving?"

If that doesn't work, how about letting Sister Mo'er drive? So many of our lives are in your hands, don't be reckless!

Su Yiqing naturally wouldn't be distracted by answering Su Xiaowu at this moment.

Li Mo'er turned her head and said, "Xiao Wu, don't worry, I've raced with your older brother before, and his driving skills are no worse than mine!"

"Oh," Su Xiaowu responded quietly, finally feeling relieved.

Little Ruan Ruan clutched her chest with one hand, her face pale. She really hadn't expected the mountain village her older brother and his friends were going to be so remote, and she really didn't know that there were still such remote mountain villages in China where the roads weren't even paved.

Even though Su Yiqing was focused on driving, she kept checking on Xiao Ruanruan's condition in the rearview mirror.

When he saw Xiao Ruanruan's pale face as she clutched her chest, he stopped the car on the side of the road without hesitation.

Then, he got out of the car anxiously and took Xiao Ruanruan out of the car. "Xiao Ruanruan, how are you? Are you feeling unwell?"

Little Ruanruan took a deep breath of the fresh mountain air and felt much better. A sweet smile appeared on her pale face, and her smiling eyes curved as she said to Su Yiqing in a soft, childlike voice, "Big brother, I'm fine, I'm just a little carsick."

Su Yiqing checked the navigation. The map showed that they weren't far from Qingquan Village, where they were going. He originally wanted to ask Mo'er to drive Qianqian, Su Lei, and Su Xiaowu to the village first, while he carried Xiaoruanruan on foot.

But seeing that the other three children who got out of the car didn't look too good, he turned to Mo'er and said, "The rest of the way isn't far, why don't we walk together?"

Li Mo'er wasn't uncomfortable at all. After all, she grew up in the military and had experienced much harsher conditions. She stretched naturally and said, "Great! I've been on airplanes and in cars all day. My bones are aching from sitting so much. It's good to walk around and stretch my muscles."

"Sissi, Lei'er, Xiao Wu, are you guys up to it?"

Su Xiaowu held her breath, pounded her chest twice with her little fist, and said in a strong voice, "A man can't say he can't do it!"

Su Lei and Qianqian nodded firmly, each taking their luggage off the car and carrying it on their backs. Fortunately, they had only packed some changes of clothes, so their luggage wasn't heavy.

Su Xiaowu conscientiously lifted the porridge basket.

The mountain path was already difficult to walk on, and after the rain, the ground was even more muddy, and often several people could not find a place to step.

Three hours later, when they arrived at Qingquan Village, all of them were covered in mud.

Especially Su Xiaowu, who couldn't admit his incompetence as a man, fell several times on the road, and his head was covered in mud, so all that could be seen were his eyes still rolling around.

Su Yiqing and the others had notified the village chief in advance of their arrival.

So when they arrived, the village chief was waiting at the village entrance. Upon seeing them, he immediately came forward and asked in a rather unenthusiastic manner, "Are you Mr. Su?"

Su Yiqing nodded and shook hands with the village chief, "Hello, Village Chief He."

Village Chief He merely shook hands with Su Yiqing symbolically, then glanced at Xiao Ruanruan and her group before saying indifferently, "Come with me!"

Su Yiqing held Xiao Ruanruan's hand in one hand and Qianqian's hand in the other, and followed Village Chief He into the village. Li Moer led Su Lei and Su Xiaowu behind them.

As Xiao Ruanruan walked, she looked around at the village.

The village is quite large, with more than a hundred households. Almost every household lives in a mud-brick house, and there are very few brick houses. It is indeed very poor.

It was just getting dark, which was dinnertime.

As the village chief led them along, he greeted the villagers.

Most of the young people in the village have probably gone out to work, leaving only some elderly people and children in the village.

However, the elderly and children showed no curiosity whatsoever about Xiao Ruanruan and the other outsiders.

As we walked along, only one elderly man, who looked to be in his sixties, asked the village chief, "Old He, is this another one who's come to our village to teach?"

Village Chief He nodded and replied, "Yes!"

The man glanced at Xiao Ruanruan and her group, shook his head, and went back into his room.

They didn't seem to welcome them.

The village chief led them to a large dam at the very back of the village, took out a key, and opened the door of a mud-brick house next to the dam. He said, "Mr. Su, this used to be the village's storage room. Later, it was used to house educated youth. Now, the teachers and doctors who come to the village to provide educational and medical support all live here."

There are six rooms here; that should be enough for your family.

I'll come back tomorrow to take you to the village school and clinic. You should pack up and get some rest first.

My home is right there; you can come find me if you need anything.

As the village chief spoke, he pointed to a rather conspicuous brick house in the village and said, "I'll head back now so as not to disturb your rest any longer."
