Chapter 25 The Twenty-Fifth Day of Not Running Away The Twenty-Fifth Day of Not Running Away...

Zhuang Dahu left with his men.

After a while, Chen Bozheng came over to find Wen Chan and Liu Yan.

Wen Chan asked, "How is it?"

Chen Bozheng casually picked up a cup to drink water. Wen Chan noticed the cup and paused for a moment, but Chen Bozheng didn't notice. He said, "Zhuang Dahu has taken the bait. I estimate he'll come looking for me soon."

"That's good." Wen Chan nodded.

Old Song was impatient and kept urging Gunzi to get things done quickly. Gunzi had no choice but to approach Chen Bozheng again.

His face was full of anxiety: "Brother Zheng, Boss Zhou is urging me, have you made up your mind about this yet?"

Chen Bo smiled and said, "What's the rush? It's only been a few days."

He leisurely brewed his Kung Fu tea, and even had the time to invite Gunzi to drink some tea.

Stick was frantic. He grabbed the teacup but didn't drink a drop. "Boss Zhou is in a hurry to get back. How about this, we'll give you a discount, okay?"

"How much cheaper?" Chen Bo asked, feigning interest. "Forty thousand?"

"Forty thousand is simply not enough. How about ninety thousand?" Stick said, "If you agree, I'll contact Boss Zhou later."

"I see." Chen Bo stroked his chin. "Okay, schedule a time."

Stick immediately beamed with joy and got up to leave.

Chen Bo was offering him tea, but he waved his hand repeatedly, saying, "No, business is more important."

The stick disappeared in a flash.

Zhuang Dahu then came out of the house and said to Chen Bozheng, "I heard it, ninety thousand yuan."

Chen Bo rubbed his nose. "Zhuang Dahu, this is how much of my..."

"Hey, don't give me that nonsense." Zhuang Dahu gestured for him to stop and said, "Don't forget, you still owe my sister a favor. If it weren't for my brother-in-law lending you money and introducing you to Boss Ye, would you be rich now?"

Chen Bozheng's face showed shame and anger. He gritted his teeth and said, "Fine, consider this deal as me repaying your sister's favor. From now on, we're even!"

Zhuang Dahu grinned, his fleshy face trembling slightly.

On the day of the business deal, Chen Bo had Fatty and the others come up with a way to get the stick away, and he led Zhuang Dahu to find Boss Zhou.

When Boss Zhou saw Zhuang Dahu there, he was stunned, and his eyes immediately showed displeasure: "What's going on? Where's Gunzi? Why didn't he come? Instead, this guy came."

“This is a friend of mine,” Chen Bo said vaguely. “Don’t worry about it. We can get it done even without the stick. We’ve brought the money. Here’s 90,000 yuan. Count it.”

He took the money from Zhuang Dahu.

Boss Zhou took the bag and felt a sudden weight in his hand. When he opened the bag and saw a single ten-yuan note inside, his face lit up with joy. He no longer cared about the sticks and went to count them without saying a word.

Even when Zhuang Dahu called people in to move clothes, he only glanced at them and ignored them. Although he felt that these people were unfamiliar, Boss Zhou did not know Chen Bozheng in the first place, so he naturally did not think much of it.

“Okay, ninety thousand yuan, that’s enough.” Boss Zhou said cheerfully. He walked over and patted Chen Bozheng on the shoulder, “You’re good, Xiao Chen, you have guts.”

“Hey, he has something to do with him…” Zhuang Dahu glared, about to say something, when at that moment, the sound of police cars came from outside the alley.

Zhuang Dahu and the others didn't think much of it, but Boss Zhou was startled. Clutching the bag of money, he shouted, "Which of you called the police?"

"Call the police? What do you mean?" Zhuang Dahu was stunned.

Zhuang Dahu wasn't stupid; he immediately realized, "Is this some kind of smuggled goods?!"

"Bang bang bang—" Several policemen kicked open the door and rushed in, guns in hand, pointed at everyone. "Don't move!"

Around nine o'clock, the lights in the dance hall were dim. Boss Song sat in a booth, holding a glass of wine, waiting for news from Boss Zhou.

He kept glancing up at the clock on the wall, feeling quite impatient.

He knew that Chen Bozheng had arranged to meet with Boss Zhou at eight o'clock. Logically speaking, even if they couldn't agree on a price, there should be news by now.

Boss Song was waiting to call the police and report Chen Bozheng for selling foreign waste. As soon as the news got out, his reporter friend would immediately get wind of it and put it on the front page of the newspaper.

If things escalate, everyone will suspect that the clothes Chen Bozheng sold before were also imported junk. As a result, the sheer number of people coming to Chen Bozheng's door demanding refunds will be enough to give him a hard time.

"Ring ring—" The mobile phone rang loudly.

Boss Song hurriedly picked up the phone and answered it. It was Reporter Cheng's voice on the other end: "Boss Song, something terrible has happened. The person who was arrested is not Chen Bozheng, but your brother-in-law."

"What?" Boss Song was stunned for a moment, then subconsciously stood up. Hearing that the signal was bad, he turned and walked out without saying a word, and his underlings hurriedly followed.

Reporter Cheng glanced at the police officer who had returned from getting water, covered the phone receiver, and said, "Anyway, hurry up and come over. I reckon your wife and father-in-law are coming soon."

When Song heard the busy tone on the other end of the phone, his palms were covered in cold sweat.

Old Song leaned over and said ingratiatingly, "Boss, is Chen Bozheng in jail? How about we have a late-night snack to celebrate?"

"Eat your mother's midnight snack!" Boss Song was both anxious and angry, but Old Song was oblivious and came over to make trouble. Boss Song raised his hand and slapped him, then hurriedly hailed a taxi on the roadside and rushed to the Haidian District Public Security Bureau.

The taxi arrived at the police station half an hour later.

As soon as Song Laoda and his group got out of the car, they bumped into Wen Chan and others who had come to pick up Chen Bozheng as he left the police station.

The two groups locked eyes, and Boss Song's gaze turned cold. He quickly took a few steps forward, grabbed Chen Bozheng by the collar, and demanded, "Chen Bozheng, what's going on here!"

"Hey." Chen Bo pushed Song Laoda away, patted his collar, raised his eyebrows, and his sharp eyes held a bottomless smile: "Laoda Song, your question confuses me. I don't understand."

"You're still pretending with me! If it wasn't you who caused this trouble, who was it?!" Old Master Song was so angry that he almost fainted. How could he not have connected his brother-in-law's incarceration with Chen Bozheng after all this time?

Chen Bo looked aggrieved. "I'm innocent, Boss Song. I never expected that Boss Zhou to be a scumbag who sells foreign waste. I almost fell for it. Luckily, your brother-in-law took a liking to this business and used both soft and hard tactics to force me to give it to him. Otherwise, I would be the one being detained now."

"You...you..." Old Master Song was so angry that his brain was pounding. He pointed at Chen Bozheng and said, "You're going to report me? Why are you looking for my brother-in-law?"

"Of course, this is to return the favor." Chen Bozheng noticed something, his eyes turned cold, and a smile appeared on his face. He took out a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and handed it to Boss Song. He said in a voice that everyone around could hear, "Boss Song, I've paid back the favor I owed you. You won't have to worry about your brother-in-law causing you trouble anymore."

Boss Song stared at the cigarette in his hand, his mind still reeling, not quite understanding what was going on.

"You fucking beast, you son of a bitch Song Zhongmin!" A thunderous shout rang out behind the crowd.

Old Song turned his head and saw his father-in-law's fist, as big as a clay pot, coming straight at his face.

With that punch, Boss Song was knocked to the ground.

His father-in-law wasn't satisfied with just that, so he sat on him and started pounding him with his fists like hailstones.

At first, Song's underlings didn't understand what was going on, but once they realized what was happening, they rushed over to stop him.

Song Laoda's wife, Zhuang Daniu, led a group of people to stop them, saying, "If you dare to do this, my dad beat up Song Zhongmin. If you dare to lay a hand on him, don't blame us for being impolite."

"Hey, Boss Song, how could you get beaten like a dog like this? If word gets out, how will you ever face anyone? No wonder you're targeting your brother-in-law; your wife and father-in-law really don't treat you like a human being."

Chen Bo was stirring things up from the side.

Old Song had just taken a few punches and his head was still spinning. He was in pain and furious, and hearing these words only made him more agitated.

He wasn't one to be trifled with either, and he fought back without saying a word.

When his wife saw her father being beaten, she immediately started hitting Song Laoda without hesitation.

The two sides immediately erupted into chaos, and a fight broke out right in front of the police station.

Chen Bozheng wanted to say a few more words to stir up trouble, but Wen Chan grabbed his hand and said to Fatty and the others, "Hurry up and leave, the police are coming out."

Then everyone realized that while the spectacle was entertaining, watching it in front of the police station could easily lead to trouble, so they turned tail and ran without a word.

The group ran while looking back.

The fat man kept giving pointers, "Hey, this Boss Song is something else. With that monkey-stealing-the-fruits trick, his father-in-law will have to behave himself for the next few decades."

"Hey, his wife is pretty ruthless too. That leg-cutting kick is probably meant to kill Boss Song's lineage. I saw Boss Song's face turn green."

"Hey, look, Old Song got stepped on several times."

Wen Chan wasn't in great physical condition to begin with, and with the fat man's commentary, she couldn't help but laugh. The laughter gave her a stomach ache, and she yelled at the fat man, "Shut up! You're just trying to make us laugh to death!"

"Can't run anymore?" Chen Bo asked Wen Chan.

Wen Chan retorted irritably, "Nonsense, do I look like I can run?"

Chen Bo stopped in his tracks, looking at Wen Chan with a wicked smile.

Wen Chan felt something was off about his gaze and took a step back. "What do you want?"

"Nothing, I..." Before Chen Bozheng could finish speaking, he picked up Wen Chan in one swift motion. Wen Chan screamed in fright, and after realizing what was happening, she angrily punched Chen Bozheng, "You wanted to carry me without saying anything?"

Chen Bozheng is really fit; he can run incredibly fast while carrying Wen Chan. "If I told you, I wouldn't want to scare you."

Wen Chan laughed in exasperation, reaching out to pinch Chen Bozheng's arm, but found herself unable to do anything; the guy's arm muscles were really hard.

After running a distance and making a fuss, Wen Chan asked Chen Bozheng to put her down. After she got down, she subtly stepped on Chen Bozheng's foot and glared at him fiercely.

Chen Bo was wincing in pain, but instead of crying out, he laughed out loud.

The fat man whispered to the monk, "I think Zheng Ge has gone crazy. He can still laugh when his sister-in-law stepped on him. It hurts just watching it."

The monk glanced at him and said indifferently, "I think your nickname 'Monk' would be more appropriate."

"Huh?" The fat man was stunned. "Why should I?"

The monk remained silent, but the fat man relentlessly pressed him for answers. He had completely forgotten about the monk; his nickname stemmed from his truly taciturn nature, sometimes going a whole week without uttering a single word.
