Chapter 223 The Kidnappers Underestimated the Enemy

Chapter 223 The Kidnappers Underestimated the Enemy

What exactly is the kidnapper's purpose? Why did they specifically want to involve her?

A series of questions kept swirling in her mind, leaving her completely baffled.

Si Yanxiao stared straight ahead, driving at high speed, his gaze occasionally glancing at Jiang Ran in the rearview mirror, a few barely perceptible dark glints flashing in his eyes.

They remained silent the entire way. Si Yanxiao drove to his destination, which was deserted and desolate, except for an abandoned factory that had been abandoned for who knows how long.

Clearly, the person behind it all had planned this all along, leaving them nowhere to turn.

"Get out of the car." Si Yanxiao's eyes narrowed slightly as he said in a deep voice.

Upon hearing this, Jiang Ran's face showed a hint of doubt, but she still got out of the car as instructed and followed him into the abandoned factory.

His eyes were still scanning his surroundings. He saw that the environment was harsh, the ground was uneven and overgrown with weeds.

Inside the factory, the kidnappers had been waiting for some time. As soon as the two approached, a smirk appeared on their faces, and they asked in a cold voice, "Did you bring everything?"

Si Yanxiao frowned, ignoring his question, and asked directly, "Where is he?"

The kidnapper raised an eyebrow slightly, then gestured with his hand. His subordinate nodded slightly and walked towards the door. When he came out, Bai Zhuwei's mouth was taped shut, her hands were tied behind her back with rope, and her hair was messy. She looked very disheveled.

Her face was pale and filled with terror. But when she saw Si Yanxiao, a glimmer of hope flashed in her eyes, and she looked at him with teary eyes.

Upon seeing this, Si Yanxiao's pupils suddenly contracted, his anger flaring, and his gaze fell on the kidnapper like a blade.

Seeing his displeasure, the kidnapper smiled slightly and teased, "Why do you look like you want to kill me?"

"Mr. Si, I did not touch Miss Bai at all, as you instructed. It was just that she struggled and made a lot of noise, so I took some measures."

What seemed like an explanation was actually a way of expressing her attitude to Si Yanxiao.

There was no intention to make enemies, and in any case, no one was harmed. Hopefully, things will proceed smoothly and as scheduled.

Hearing the implication in his words, Si Yanxiao's eyes turned cold, his lips tightened, and he replied in a cold voice, "You're smart to know what's good for you!"

He then threw the bag he was carrying on the ground, frowned, and said in a deep voice, "Everything you wanted is here. Can I take the person with me now?"

The kidnappers' eyes lit up when they saw the bag. Their men immediately understood and stepped forward to open it. Inside, they found a staggering amount of cash, enough to ensure they would live comfortably for the rest of their lives.

A look of greed flashed across the faces of the kidnappers present. The man checking the money turned his head and nodded slightly to the leader, then picked up the money and turned back to where he came from.

Si Yanxiao's face showed a sneer, then he raised his eyes to look at the leader of the kidnappers and slowly said, "As you requested, the money is not in consecutive serial numbers."

"Great!" The kidnapper's face lit up with joy, then his gaze swept over Jiang Ran: "You, come here!"

Upon hearing this, Jiang Ran's face flashed with disdain, but she remained unmoved and coldly retorted, "Didn't you say it was a one-for-one exchange? We've got the person and the money, what if you go back on your word?" The kidnapper was startled by Jiang Ran's sudden question, then abruptly sneered, "You're certainly thoughtful, but do you know you're the one being abandoned?"

"So what?" Jiang Ran retorted.

Upon hearing this, a look of surprise flashed across the kidnapper's face. He had originally thought she would shout herself hoarse, or accuse him of injustice, or perhaps appear submissive.

Unexpectedly, the question was asked calmly, leaving him momentarily at a loss for words. He then let out a cold laugh.

Then he replied, "Okay, let's be fair. I'll untie her, and you come over here, okay?"

"Okay." Jiang Ran nodded slightly and replied in a deep voice, showing no fear on her face.

"Untie her." The kidnapper said coldly. His men quickly tore off the tape binding Bai Zhuwei, cut the rope, and pushed her away.

Bai Zhuwei stumbled and quickly walked towards Si Yanxiao.

The kidnappers stared intently at Jiang Ran, who pursed her lips slightly and stepped towards them.

Just as the two brushed past each other, Bai Zhuwei's expression hardened, and she clenched her fist slightly. The kidnapper noticed her small movement, his eyes flashed, and he coughed lightly.

His men instantly walked towards Jiang Ran, their faces fierce.

Upon seeing this, a cold glint flashed across Jiang Ran's face. Just as one of the men's fists was about to swing at her, she delivered a powerful front kick that sent him sprawling to the ground.

Then she turned and exchanged a glance with Si Yanxiao, nodded slightly, and Si Yanxiao instantly understood. His eyes sharpened, and he said in a deep voice, "Come in!"

Upon hearing this, the kidnapper's face flashed with surprise. Then, a series of chaotic footsteps were heard, and a group of men in black rushed in from outside the door, immediately protecting Jiang Ran and Si Yanxiao behind them.

Upon seeing this, the kidnapper's expression hardened, and a chill flashed in his eyes.

Then he glanced coldly at Si Yanxiao, a sinister look flashing across his face.

Si Yanxiao noticed his gaze, looked up and met his eyes, a slight smile playing on his lips, a hint of coldness in his expression.

He then took a pinhole earphone out of his ear, raised an eyebrow slightly, and his eyes were full of provocation.

The kidnapper's expression suddenly hardened. He hadn't expected Jiang Ran to have a backup plan. No wonder she was so compliant...

It turns out I was the one who was kept in the dark!

Thinking of this, the kidnapper's expression became increasingly ugly, and his face gradually turned ferocious.

Bai Zhuwei hadn't expected such a turn of events. A chill ran through her, but she feigned panic, letting out a cry before throwing herself into Si Yanxiao's arms.

Si Yanxiao reached out and gently patted her back, softly comforting her, "Don't be afraid, I'm here."

Bai Zhuwei responded softly, the panic in her eyes lessening slightly. She looked up at Si Yanxiao with eyes full of trust and reliance.

Jiang Ran, who was standing to the side, noticed the commotion. Her eyes narrowed slightly, and a hint of disdain flashed across her face.

Having just received orders, the kidnappers didn't even bother to look at Si Yanxiao. They simply waved their hands, and everyone rushed towards Jiang Ran.

Jiang Ran's eyes narrowed when she saw that they were targeting her, and a wave of doubt rose in her heart.

Why is he so hostile towards me at a time like this?

Instead, they remained unmoved by Si Yanxiao and Bai Zhuwei. Could it be that they were actually after him, and everything before was just a ruse?

Thinking of this, Jiang Ran's expression hardened. Seeing this, the bodyguards immediately stood in front of her, forming a circle around her, and began to fight with the kidnappers who rushed up.

Surrounded in the middle, Jiang Ran coldly watched the kidnappers, then casually looked up at Si Yanxiao, only to see him gently comforting her after Bai Zhuwei said something.

Completely disregarding the situation here, whether she was in danger, even though he was her legal wife, it all seemed so strange...

"Heh..." Jiang Ran suddenly scoffed coldly, "How ironic."

After saying that, she turned her gaze away. Seeing that someone was trying to take her away, Jiang Ran's eyes narrowed. She dodged to the side and kicked the man hard from behind, knocking him to the ground instantly.

Seeing this, a hint of mockery flashed in Jiang Ran's eyes. Si Yanxiao had just looked up when he saw this scene.

His eyes flashed, his expression changed abruptly, and his brows furrowed. Just as he was about to step forward to help, Bai Zhuwei suddenly closed her eyes, her body suddenly weakened, and she fainted in front of him.

Si Yanxiao quickly reached out to support her, preventing her from falling to the ground. Bai Zhuwei felt as if she had no bones, unable to exert any strength. Her eyes were closed, her brows were slightly furrowed, and she looked extremely uncomfortable.

A look of panic flashed across Si Yanxiao's face, his lips tightened, and he was instantly caught in a dilemma.

On one hand, seeing Jiang Ran in danger, he wanted to take her away from here, but on the other hand, Bai Zhuwei was in this state and couldn't be separated from someone.

Thinking of this, Si Yanxiao's expression turned slightly stern, and a hint of displeasure flashed across his face.

Jiang Ran noticed something amiss on their side, so she lowered her eyes to look closely. She was staring at Si Yanxiao, who had a slight frown on his brow and a hint of helplessness in his eyes.

Bai Zhuwei was lying weakly in his arms. Looking at the scene before him, Jiang Ran felt it was particularly jarring.

His eyes narrowed, but he didn't say anything more.

Si Yanxiao took a few steps toward her, his lips slightly pursed, and said in a low voice, "Zhu Wei has fainted, I..."

He hesitated as if he wanted to say something but stopped, a hint of apology flashing across his face.

Jiang Ran came to accompany him in a play, but now he has to leave her all alone.
