☆, Chapter 362 Making a Move
Then his eyes sharpened, a slight smirk appeared on his lips, and he coldly reminded her, "By the way, it seems you still need to settle the hundreds of thousands you owe in the back office."
"What did you say?!" Lu Ziyi's face turned deathly pale instantly. He hadn't expected that he would have to pay so much in compensation.
Several hundred thousand is not a lot, but it's not a small amount either. For Lu Ziyi right now, it's a huge sum of money that he simply can't afford to pay.
Thinking of this, a ferocious look flashed across Lu Ziyi's face. He suddenly stood up, took a few steps forward, grabbed the referee's collar tightly, pulled out a dagger from somewhere, and threatened in a fierce voice, "You're asking for death! How dare you scheme against me!"
Seeing this, everyone was surprised that he dared to make a move in public. They all showed a look of amusement and anticipation.
Whispers arose from those around him: "Is this guy a sore loser?"
"How could you do this? Start a fight here?"
"Exactly! I never expected him to be this kind of person!"
Hearing the mocking voices around him, Lu Ziyi's expression changed drastically. A sinister glint flashed between his brows. He turned to face the crowd, his face hardening, and shouted sharply, "Shut up, all of you! What do you know!"
Then, turning to the referee, he slashed the dagger against his neck and threatened in a cold voice, "Tell me! Did you tamper with things behind my back?"
A flicker of fear crossed the referee's face, but he still forced himself to remain calm and said, "What are you doing! Are you trying to coerce me?"
Then he looked up at a staff member in the distance, a hint of panic showing on his face.
The man nodded slightly to reassure him, then turned and walked to Brother Guo, asking in a low voice, "Boss, that kid's gotten angry, what do we do now?"
Looking at the farce unfolding before him, Brother Guo parted his thin lips and slowly uttered, "The fish have taken the bait, it's time for us to... haul in the net."
"Yes." The subordinate nodded slightly, then waved his hand, and a group of thugs instantly understood and surrounded Lu Ziyi.
Lu Ziyi's hand trembled almost imperceptibly when he saw the scene before him.
Then the man who had just gone to report to the side walked to the opposite side of Lu Ziyi, his face cold, and suddenly sneered: "Dare to cause trouble here? I think you're the one who's courting death!"
"If you know what's good for you, release them now, or you won't be leaving here today."
As he spoke, a hint of ruthlessness flashed in his eyes. The thugs beside him, all wielding sticks, were burly and looked menacing.
Lu Ziyi felt weak instantly, and his anger from before vanished almost entirely upon seeing this scene.
Although it was a huge sum of money, it was truly unforgivable to lose one's life for it.
After all, he had heard of this kind of underworld dealings; they would never let you have a good end, even if you died.
Thinking of this, a hint of hesitation flashed across Lu Ziyi's face. Just as he was hesitating, the so-called 'Brother Guo' stepped forward and, seeing the scene, feigned surprise, exclaiming, "Hey! I just went out for a bit, why is the atmosphere so tense? What's going on?"
Then he strode over to Lu Ziyi's side. Lu Ziyi was about to sternly tell him to stop, but then he thought of the help Lu Ziyi had given him before, so he pursed his lips and stopped talking instantly.
Looking at the dagger in his hand, Brother Guo repeatedly advised, "In gambling, there are always winners and losers. Now that you've suddenly made things more complicated."
"Besides, with so many people around, what's the point of grabbing him?"
A hint of hesitation flashed across Lu Ziyi's face, and his hand movements loosened slightly, clearly indicating that he had taken his words to heart.
Seeing this, the referee seized the opportunity during the moment when the man was stunned and broke free from his grasp, running straight into the crowd.
Lu Ziyi's hand slipped away, his expression changed, and he tried to restrain him but was a step too late. The thugs swarmed forward and captured him instantly.
The situation changed drastically in an instant. Lu Ziyi was at a disadvantage, his head was slammed hard against the table by the thugs, and he couldn't move.
The leader stepped forward, his eyes filled with coldness as he looked at him. He picked up the dice cup and smashed it hard on the man's head, causing blood to flow out slowly.
Lu Ziyi winced in pain and let out a muffled groan.
The onlookers looked surprised, some even clicking their tongues and shaking their heads, a hint of regret flashing across their faces.
Why would a perfectly normal person choose to go against such a large casino? Isn't that just courting death?
Ignoring Lu Ziyi's pain, the leader grabbed his hair tightly, forcing Lu Ziyi to tilt his head back, a hint of shame flashing across his face.
Then the man suddenly sneered, "I don't take you seriously, but you really think you're something special?"
As she spoke, she whispered a warning in his ear: "I warned you long ago not to court death!"
There was a hint of threat in his words.
Then, he picked up the dagger that Lu Ziyi had just used and casually rubbed it from side to side, the cold glint of the dagger flashing before Lu Ziyi's eyes.
A sense of panic flashed through Lu Ziyi's mind.
Sure enough, the man plunged the dagger heavily into Lu Ziyi's face, just inches away.
Lu Ziyi looked frightened and abruptly closed his eyes, unable to look directly at her.
Then the man's fierce voice rang in my ears: "If he dares to cause trouble here, I'll break one of his hands first."
A gasp of surprise rang out from the side. Lu Ziyi felt like a fish on a chopping board, completely at the mercy of others.
A look of panic flashed across his face. He quickly opened his eyes and looked around, only to see that everyone around him seemed indifferent, watching the show with amusement. Seeing that he was now helpless, he saw the thugs raise their daggers, but one of them held his arm down tightly, preventing him from moving.
Lu Ziyi's fear intensified, and he cried out repeatedly, "Brother Guo, save me!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Brother Guo's voice rang out: "Wait!"
The thugs paused, and the leader looked at him, deliberately feigning ignorance, and coldly questioned, "What? You're also planning to get involved in this mess?"
The implication was that he should mind his own business.
Unable to hear Guo Ge's reply, Lu Ziyi assumed he too was wavering and quickly pleaded, "Guo Ge, I beg you, please save me..."
His tone was full of sorrow.
He's already a cripple, practically disabled, so we absolutely can't let him lose another hand!
Now, he couldn't care less about maintaining his superior demeanor and was pleading repeatedly. His previous aggressive attitude had instantly transformed into that of a completely different person.
A hint of hesitation flashed across Guo's face. He then took two steps forward and said to the leader, "This is my little brother. How about you give me some face?"
The leader scoffed and retorted, "Brother Guo, you've been here for so long, you should know the rules of the underworld."
"He was the one who spoke rudely first. If Ali hadn't escaped in time, he would probably be begging for mercy now."
His words were laced with coldness, clearly indicating his extreme dissatisfaction with Lu Ziyi's previous attitude.
The Ali he mentioned was the referee who had just been taken hostage by Lu Ziyi.
Upon hearing this, Brother Guo stepped forward and slowly spoke up: "But even if you cut off one of his hands now, it won't help. You might as well find a suitable solution to deal with it."
"I've been here for quite a while now, and I'm an old acquaintance of your boss. Please do me a favor..."
No one who heard this would doubt his words; they would only think he was playing the emotional card.
The man hesitated for a moment, but his attitude was no longer as clear as before.
Seeing this, Brother Guo quickly walked to Lu Ziyi's side and whispered, "They have softened their stance, but you'll probably have to pay for this yourself."
"Pay off the debt and give them some compensation for emotional distress, and that will be the end of it."
"Compensation for emotional distress?" Upon hearing this, a hint of surprise flashed across Lu Ziyi's face.
"Hmm." Brother Guo nodded slightly and explained, "You've taken their staff hostage, shouldn't you at least offer some thanks?"
“But now I…” A look of dilemma flashed across Lu Ziyi’s face.
Seeing his attitude, Brother Guo's face instantly turned cold, and he said in a cold voice, "The decision is yours. You decide for yourself. Anyway, I'm willing to risk everything for your reputation."
"If you are short of funds, I can introduce you to a reliable high-interest loan to solve your temporary problem."
"Loan sharking?" Lu Ziyi hesitated. Once he got involved with this kind of thing, the interest would snowball and he wouldn't be able to afford it.
