Chapter Twenty-Eight: The So-Called PUA
As Jiang Ran spoke, her eyes glanced at the roses on the table, and her smiling face instantly turned serious.
He picked it up and casually threw it into the trash can next to him.
Upon seeing her make this move, Lu Ziyi was stunned, and the words he was saying came to an abrupt halt.
She quickly asked, "Ranran, what are you doing?"
Jiang Ran raised an eyebrow and said casually, "Even the flowers casually placed in the vases in the villa are all air-freighted from abroad."
"These flowers are too cheap; I look at them from all angles and I just can't bring myself to like them."
The trash that's delivered should stay in the trash can with the trash.
It's not just flowers, it's people too.
Upon hearing this, Lu Ziyi's expression stiffened slightly, and his face turned ugly.
Jiang Ran's words were undoubtedly a slap in his face. He came from a poor family and considered buying flowers to be an extremely romantic thing.
Surprisingly, she actually believed in the distinction between superior and inferior varieties.
To say that the flowers are cheap is to imply that he has a low social status.
But all of this was just his overthinking and speculation. How could Jiang Ran, with her simple mind, think so complicatedly?
Seeing this, Jiang Ran sneered inwardly, but put on an innocent look on her face.
"Ziyi, you're not going to hang me up and make me throw away the flowers, are you?"
"Of course not." Lu Ziyi put on an understanding look: "It's just a bouquet of flowers. It was my oversight that lowered your quality of life."
"How could that be?" Jiang Ran quickly explained, "I originally wanted to keep it, but you know I'm used to being willful, and I have to get rid of anything that doesn't suit my taste right away."
"Otherwise, watching it will make you feel very irritable."
Lu Ziyi listened with displeasure, but then he thought that Jiang Ran was currently his "cash cow".
It's not worth arguing over such a trivial matter. Fortunately, only the two of them know about it, so it's not too embarrassing.
Thinking of this, for the sake of the money, I suppressed my displeasure.
Jiang Ran coldly observed his changing expressions from the side, and secretly scoffed.
They really are willing to sacrifice their dignity for money.
Doesn't he like money? Then let him have his way.
"Ziyi, I have good news to tell you."
“Go ahead,” Lu Ziyi replied gently.
"Some time ago, Mr. Si told me about the annual dividends of the Si Group's shares, and I think the dividend ratio is quite considerable."
"The more shares you have, the more you get, so I want to buy more individual shares."
Jiang Ran painted a rosy picture for Lu Ziyi: "This is a 1:10 ratio, so tens of millions won't be a big deal, right?"
Her specialty is to slap someone and then give them a sweet treat; this trick never fails.
Lu Ziyi was somewhat tempted, a calculating glint in his eyes.
"But are those people willing to sell?"
“Of course,” Jiang Ran replied. “I’ve already taken care of everything; all that’s left is for the funds to be in place.”
Lu Ziyi's face lit up with joy: "Then let's give them the money to buy shares as soon as possible, just in case something unexpected happens."
“But…” Jiang Ran frowned, looking somewhat troubled, and said, “The main problem right now is that we don’t have enough funds.”
Upon hearing this, Lu Ziyi was taken aback.
Jiang Ran continued, "You know that we can make ten times the profit when we receive dividends, but they only have a small number of shares and won't amount to much."
"But what if one of the shareholders on the board shares our idea and also gets inside information and buys their scattered shares? Then we'll lose our advantage."
Jiang Ran's words implied to him that they weren't the only ones who wanted to sell their shares; it was a first-come, first-served situation.
As she spoke, Jiang Ran's face was filled with sorrow, and her voice choked with emotion: "I just want to get more money so that even if we leave the Si family, we can live a worry-free life."
"But now..."
Seeing Jiang Ran sobbing beside him, Lu Ziyi quickly patted her shoulder to comfort her.
"Ranran, don't worry."
Jiang Ran looked up, tugged at his sleeve, and said aggrievedly, "But I've already invested all my money, and I'm still a little short."
Looking at her tearful eyes and pitiful appearance, Lu Ziyi couldn't help but feel compassion.
He gently patted her shoulder and comforted her, saying, "Didn't I just give you a million? You can use that money to cover it for now."
“Not enough.” Jiang Ran shook her head, then made a gesture: “We’re still short three million.”
"Three million?" Upon hearing this number, Lu Ziyi's pupils dilated in shock: "Is that much really necessary?"
Jiang Ran didn't reply, but just looked at him quietly, her eyes filled with hope.
Lu Ziyi, imagining a wonderful life ahead, gritted his teeth and replied, "Okay, give me the rest of the money, I'll try to borrow it."
Hearing Lu Ziyi's assurance, Jiang Ran smiled slightly where he couldn't see, a hint of triumph flashing across her face.
She'd rather die than let him return the money he took from her!
Then she looked at Lu Ziyi and pretended to be a little bird clinging to him.
Feigning surprise, she asked, "Really?"
Then she switched to praise mode: "Ziyi, it's so good to have you."
Lu Ziyi smiled and added, "Silly girl, what's mine is yours, isn't it?"
Jiang Ran chuckled, but didn't respond.
What he said is true; the money all came from his own pocket, so isn't it hers?
It's easy to leave, but difficult to get the money back. Now, when asked to give him the money, he's making excuses.
With her plan succeeding, she was too lazy to cater to Lu Ziyi anymore. Before parting, Lu Ziyi even acted as if he was reluctant to say goodbye.
Looking at his hypocritical face, Jiang Ran couldn't help but feel a chill. Just as she was going down the stairs, Jiang Ran suddenly missed a step and heard a scream.
Lu Ziyi quickly reached out to support her, and Jiang Ran took the opportunity to stuff the talisman in her hand into his pocket.
"Ranran, are you alright?" Lu Ziyi asked with a worried expression.
Jiang Ran shook her head, patted her chest repeatedly, looking terrified: "Thank goodness, thank goodness, all thanks to you."
Lu Ziyi smiled slightly, his tone full of doting affection: "Fortunately, it was a close call. Tell me, what would you have done if you hadn't been so reckless all by yourself?"
Hearing his words, Jiang Ran smiled.
The two parted ways at the entrance of the coffee shop. Jiang Ran watched his departing figure, her eyebrows and eyes filled with disdain, and she let out a cold laugh.
Then, he turned and left.

"Ding-dong—"
Who is it?
Song Yuqing got up and opened the door. When she saw Lu Ziyi outside, her expression changed instantly, and she blocked the door.
What are you doing here?
Seeing that she was still angry, Lu Ziyi quickly put on a smiling face and said, "Yuqing, let me go in and we'll talk."
"I know you were wronged today. I gave her a good talking-to after you left."
Upon hearing this, Song Yuqing scoffed, "Teach her a lesson? You're always so subservient to her, doing whatever she says."
"Should I lecture her? She'd probably just join in blaming me."
"No, no," Lu Ziyi waved his hands repeatedly. "How could that be? How could you think of me like that?"
"You know that you're the person I care about most."
