☆, Chapter Ninety-Five: Sarcastic and Unpleasant
She had just mocked Song Yuqing, but now she was the one involved. How the tables have turned!
"It's a coincidence..." Jiang Ran waved her hand awkwardly with a laugh.
Si Yanxiao remained silent, only coldly watching the two of them, and the atmosphere around them instantly plummeted to freezing point.
A hint of embarrassment flashed across Jiang Ran's face. She coughed twice and took the initiative to ask, "What are you doing here?"
Si Yanxiao scoffed coldly: "What? Did you buy this road? Are you the only one allowed here?"
Hearing the obvious displeasure in Si Yanxiao's tone, she was about to speak up to explain when she heard him continue, "If I hadn't been there, would I have been able to witness such a spectacular scene?"
His words were full of sarcasm, and his gaze lingered on Si Jiliang for a moment.
Jiang Ran frowned. Although she was willing to back down, it didn't mean she could tolerate it forever.
"What do you mean?"
"The literal meaning," Si Yanxiao replied directly. "Jiang Ran, do you really want me to spell it out?"
Jiang Ran listened, a hint of hostility appearing on her face: "You might as well tell me clearly. If you want to pin something on me that I didn't do, I won't admit it."
There was also a hint of warning in his words.
"Huh?" Si Yanxiao's eyes flashed with anger when he saw that she was still trying to argue even now.
"Does the old man know what you've been doing, since he trusts you so much?"
Si Jiliang watched him coldly from the side, and frowned slightly when he heard his sarcasm.
He knew Si Yanxiao quite well, after all, they came from the same father, but their treatment was worlds apart, so he paid special attention to him, but this was the first time they had met.
"President Si, watch your words!" Si Jiliang said coldly.
He didn't want to confront him directly, but the sarcasm in his words was really unpleasant. Now he was still unsure whether Jiang Ran was the person he thought she was.
It's better to be wrong than to give up any hope.
Upon hearing this, Si Yanxiao raised an eyebrow slightly, looked at Si Jiliang seriously, and asked with a hint of scrutiny in his eyes: "What, are you going to step forward?"
Gu Nan's heart clenched, and she stared intently at Si Jiliang, afraid that he would reveal his identity.
The surname Si is already rare, not to mention that they are now enemies. Si Yanxiao is also suspicious by nature, and he is afraid that a little investigation will expose the truth.
Si Jiliang pursed his lips slightly, lost in hesitation.
Upon seeing this, Jiang Ran immediately turned her head and said coldly, "Don't meddle in other people's business."
When Si Yanxiao saw her step forward, he sneered, but he didn't look at her. Instead, he looked at Si Jiliang, his eyes thoughtful.
The two stood facing each other, their eyes meeting tens of thousands of times in the blink of an eye, yet neither was willing to back down.
Si Yanxiao didn't dwell on that point and coldly asked, "Since you know who I am, you still dare to provoke the Si family?"
Si Jiliang smiled slightly and replied gently, "My relationship with her is completely innocent. It's not appropriate for President Si to make up stories about others so casually."
“Making a story?” Si Yanxiao sneered: “Whether someone is innocent or not is proven by actions, not by words.”
If the two are truly innocent, there's no need for them to hide.
However, Si Yanxiao had never seen this person before.
This industry is only so big, but he has been dormant for six years, so it wouldn't be surprising if some rising stars emerged.
Si Jiliang pursed his lips, but still gritted his teeth and said, "My relationship with her is truly innocent. This time, I was the one who took the initiative to approach Miss Jiang—"
Miss Jiang?
These three words lingered between his lips, a playful glint in his eyes. Si Yanxiao narrowed his long eyes, his tone icy and sharp: "You should address her as Mrs. Si."
Jiang Ran was taken aback and turned to stare at the man, but he didn't seem to care and grabbed her wrist directly.
"Jiang Ran, didn't you tell him your identity?"
"Of course I know who she is."
Si Jiliang frowned. If it weren't for her identity, he would have asked her about it beforehand.
"Oh?" Si Yanxiao's lips curled up. He knew?
That's interesting.
He parted his thin lips slightly, his tone icy: "Since you know everything, then you should be careful what you say."
The threat was obvious.
Si Jiliang's expression remained unchanged, completely unconcerned. He knew that Si Yanxiao was asserting his dominance, but so what?
If it weren't for her, he would have avoided her at all costs.
If it were her, he wouldn't have the right to criticize her.
Seeing the two men on the verge of exchanging blows, Jiang Ran was afraid that either of them might accidentally reveal Si Jiliang's identity, so she quickly spoke up to shift the blame onto herself.
"Si Yanxiao, don't you hate me? What's the meaning of this act now?"
She frowned, her expression clearly meaningful: "Don't tell me you're starting to care about me."
Although the words were not explicitly stated, everyone present understood their meaning.
Upon hearing this, Si Yanxiao's expression changed, a hint of mockery flashing in his eyes: "You think you're worthy?"
"I despise you, but if you want to betray me, you'd better think carefully about the consequences!"
After saying that, he tilted his head slightly and said to Gu Nan, "Take her away, don't make a fool of yourself here."
After saying that, he turned around and drove away in his wheelchair.
Gu Nan was a little helpless, but still stepped forward to smooth things over: "Madam, let's go."
Jiang Ran lowered her eyelashes, just about to leave, when Si Jiliang apologized again, full of remorse: "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to—"
"If you're really sorry, then don't come looking for me again."
She wouldn't have spoken up for this man if she wasn't worried that Old Master Si would fall ill again because of this.
Jiang Ran was never a saint; she only wanted to achieve her own goals.
After saying that, she turned and left without giving Si Jiliang another glance.

Inside the car.
Looking in the rearview mirror, Gu Nan saw Jiang Ran and Si Yanxiao sitting side by side in the back seat, and the atmosphere instantly became much more oppressive, dropping to freezing point.
Gu Nan couldn't help but purse her lips. Just then, Si Yanxiao raised his eyes and met her gaze. Gu Nan's eyes darted away, and she quickly looked straight ahead, pretending to be nonchalant.
Si Yanxiao's eyes turned cold, but he still spoke sarcastically: "It seems that you two have a deep relationship. You even said your goodbyes before leaving. Jiang Ran, you are really good at this."
Jiang Ran frowned slightly as she listened to his sarcastic remarks.
Why is he so dramatic? She only said one sentence, and he's already conjuring up so many images in his mind?
She had already given him a lot of face, and now she was still being aggressive; it was going too far.
Do you really think she's a lump of clay, someone to be manipulated at will?
She then retorted without hesitation: "President Si has quite the imagination. Even if we were just ordinary friends, I would still greet them, right? Besides, you just launched into a sarcastic remark without even asking what happened. With such a vivid imagination, it's a real shame you're not a director."
"Perhaps you'll have a place in Hollywood too."
Si Yanxiao's expression turned cold, and he said in a cold voice, "The facts are right in front of you. What, do you still want to renege on your debt?"
"What debt are you trying to deny?" Jiang Ran raised an eyebrow and turned to look at him. "Did you see us do something outrageous and insist that our relationship is unusual?"
“I didn’t even have any physical contact with him. So if I left you in a nightclub, wouldn’t all the women there have ‘special’ relationships with you?”
As Jiang Ran spoke, she emphasized the last three words.
Sensing the sarcasm in her words, Si Yanxiao slowly turned around and met her gaze. To his surprise, her eyes were clear, unlike what he had expected, and she seemed momentarily dazed.
"Heh..." Si Yanxiao came back to his senses and sneered, "You're quite good at drawing inferences from one instance. Do you really think I don't know anything about what you've done over the years?"
Jiang Ran paused upon hearing this, realizing that he had already investigated her. Thinking of this, she looked up at Gu Nan.
Indeed, with such a human surveillance camera around, what else doesn't he know?
Gu Nan suddenly felt a chill emanating from the back of her body and shivered violently.
Jiang Ran knew she was in the wrong, after all, she couldn't stand what the original owner had done.
Nine out of ten things are unacceptable, and the remaining one is probably just a stupid mistake that failed to lead to the final disaster.
Thinking of this, Jiang Ran decided to strike first and spoke up: "Didn't you say you didn't care about me? You even felt disgusted by me, so why are you still bothering me?"
"Or... have you started to care about me?"
After saying that, he raised an eyebrow and looked at Si Yanxiao.
But Si Yanxiao, with his sharp mind, bluntly exposed him: "Don't try to use reverse psychology, and don't think that this method will whitewash your actions."
