Chapter 70: The Fish Has Taken the Bait
Lu Ziyi's voice came from the other end of the phone: "No, no, how could that be..."
Jiang Ran sneered, then opened the millions of yuan that the old man had transferred to her before, took a screenshot, and sent it to him.
After a few seconds of silence, a sudden exclamation came from the other end: "How come there are so many?"
In his view, they had only invested 20 million, and the interest in the first year was so considerable; it was simply a case of making a fortune from nothing.
Jiang Ran smiled slightly, a hint of amusement in her eyes: "Perhaps it's because we're family that the interest rate is a bit higher."
Upon hearing this, Lu Ziyi's face lit up with joy, and he believed Jiang Ran's words even more.
"Ranran, where are you now? I haven't seen you in so long..."
Hearing Lu Ziyi's cloying voice, Jiang Ran couldn't help but feel a chill.
I don't know how the original owner could tolerate such a poor man from a humble background being around her every day.
Then his expression turned cold, but his tone remained gentle: "I'm still outside, what's wrong?"
"I want to see you," Lu Ziyi said softly.
He had been trying to coax Song Yuqing lately, but the woman always treated him coldly, a stark contrast to her previous gentle demeanor.
He became somewhat irritable as each attempt to coax him failed.
Then she thought of Jiang Ran. She was deeply in love with him, so naturally she wouldn't treat him the way Song Yuqing did.
The two of them formed a stark contrast at this moment, so he wanted to relieve his emotions and satisfy his inner male chauvinism in front of her.
"Meet?" Jiang Ran raised her voice slightly at the end, then replied, "Okay."
After agreeing on a time, the two hung up the phone. Jiang Ran's lips curled slightly, and her face revealed an ambiguous expression.
As expected, the fish took the bait.
However, she didn't rush to the agreed place. Instead, she went back to the villa and slowly got ready.
After all, a man like Lu Ziyi should be kept in suspense; otherwise, chasing after him will only satisfy his vanity.
Just as he was about to leave, Si Jiliang came towards him.
Jiang Ran paused, a hint of surprise flashing across her face: "What are you doing here?"
He wouldn't come here unless he had a reason. This is the Si family villa, not their old house. Why would he show up here out of the blue?
Si Jiliang raised an eyebrow as he looked at her outfit. She wasn't wearing this at the old house.
She changed her outfit again so quickly and is ready to go out. She really is a "busy person".
Jiang Ran noticed the fleeting mockery in his eyes, and seeing that he didn't answer, she asked again, "Is there something you need?"
Si Jiliang snapped out of his daze and looked at her, asking directly, "Are you going out?"
Jiang Ran frowned, quite displeased with his questioning tone, but still nodded and replied, "Mm."
"You arranged to meet someone? It's a man?"
Upon hearing this, a hint of displeasure flashed across Jiang Ran's face, and she said coldly, "So what if it is? But it doesn't seem to have anything to do with you."
Then, his gaze swept over her, looking her up and down, before he slowly spoke: "You still haven't said what you're here for?"
Si Jiliang reached out and stroked the ring on his hand, his eyes filled with an unreadable expression. After a moment of hesitation, he replied, "Just happened to be passing by."
"A coincidence?" Jiang Ran suddenly chuckled. "Then you're quite the coincidence to be passing by here."
"If you have nothing else, I'll be leaving now."
After saying that, seeing that he didn't react, Jiang Ran walked towards the door.
Normally, she might have had the energy to exchange a few words with him, but now she had important matters to attend to and no time for "small talk".
As for what he's doing here? We'll find out sooner or later anyway, there's no rush.
Si Jiliang turned around and looked at her back, his eyes thoughtful.
Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly noticed a child following him out. To avoid causing unnecessary trouble, he slightly turned aside and hid around the corner.
Si Zuochen?
After seeing the child clearly, Si Jiliang looked a little puzzled. Why was he following Jiang Ran so suspiciously?
She looked puzzled, but just to be on the safe side, she followed behind him.
He had heard a little about what had happened before. Better safe than sorry. After all, he was still a kid, so safety was the priority.
After all, if something were to happen to him, it would be that person who would be saddened.
Fortunately, Jiang Ran's destination wasn't far, just a coffee shop next to the villa. After seeing the person outside the door, Si Jiliang suddenly let out a cold laugh.
No wonder she came back and dressed up so carefully; it turns out she came to meet her lover.
He had investigated Jiang Ran, so he naturally knew her relationships clearly. For example, the man in front of him now had an ambiguous relationship with her.
When Lu Ziyi saw Jiang Ran walking slowly towards him, his eyes lit up and he quickly stepped forward to pull her along, saying, "Ranran."
Jiang Ran looked up at him, noticing the intimacy in his words and actions. A barely perceptible hint of disgust flashed in her eyes, and she subtly avoided his touch.
She smiled slightly and asked, "Did you arrive quite early?"
Lu Ziyi shook his head: "I just arrived a little while ago."
"Oh," Jiang Ran responded softly, and then the two slowly walked into the coffee shop.
Si Zuochen, however, did not rush to follow him inside, but instead stood guard not far away.
Si Ji looked at him from afar, a hint of approval flashing across his face.
He was clever enough to know that going in would alert the enemy, but what was the point of him guarding the door if he couldn't get any information from them? Jiang Ran and Lu Ziyi went straight into a private room. As soon as they entered, Lu Ziyi fawned over them and pulled out a chair for them, displaying his gentlemanly manners.
"Thank you." A cold glint flashed in Jiang Ran's eyes, but her expression remained unchanged.
After taking their seats, Lu Ziyi began to pour out his heart, but Jiang Ran listened as if it were just a joke and quickly moved on.
She only became interested when he brought up the profit sharing.
“I don’t understand this either, and I’m not sure what the interest rate is, but the old man said that it will be based on this standard from now on.”
She subtly revealed to Lu Ziyi that she knew nothing about this kind of thing, while also reassuring him that the dividends would remain so substantial, which put his mind at ease.
Sure enough, as soon as he finished speaking, Lu Ziyi's joy was obvious.
Jiang Ran pressed her advantage, saying, "I think we should invest more now. The sooner we invest, the sooner we'll benefit. What if the situation turns bad later and they don't pay the interest rate anymore?"
Upon hearing this, Lu Ziyi's expression indeed showed a conflicted look, clearly indicating that he had taken her words to heart.
Jiang Ran took a sip of coffee, not urging him, and waited for him to slowly clear his mind.
After a moment of contemplation, he slowly raised his head and agreed, saying, "I think you have a point."
Jiang Ran lowered her eyes slightly: "We have the channels, now all we lack is funding..."
Seeing that Lu Ziyi was moved, she then said coquettishly, "This money will eventually belong to both of us. I don't know how to manage it, and I was thinking of handing it over to you to manage."
Upon hearing this, Lu Ziyi's eyes flashed, and his face lit up with joy. He then asked, "Are you really willing to trust me to hand this over to you?"
Jiang Ran feigned shyness and slowly said, "Of course, who else would I give it to if not you?"
Listening to her words, Lu Ziyi didn't feel that she was just making empty promises; he felt as if money was already beckoning to him, within reach.
"So this money..."
"I'll think of a way!" Lu Ziyi immediately chimed in.
"Really?" Jiang Ran raised an eyebrow, her joy evident. Before Lu Ziyi could respond, she smiled and said, "I knew you were the best!"
As soon as he finished speaking, he suddenly remembered something, and his expression turned gloomy again.
Seeing this, Lu Ziyi leaned closer and asked softly, "What's wrong?"
Jiang Ran suppressed the discomfort caused by his closeness, and when she looked up again, her face was full of worry.
"But where can you suddenly get so much money?"
As Lu Ziyi listened, a sense of gloom flashed through his heart. The three million he had borrowed before was from loan sharks, and he hadn't paid it off yet, so it was bound to be difficult to borrow again.
Thinking about this, he couldn't help but feel a little irritated.
Then Jiang Ran's clear voice came from the side at the right time: "Actually, if Yuqing is willing to help us, she can make quite a bit of money."
"Yuqing?" Lu Ziyi raised an eyebrow slightly.
Jiang Ran nodded repeatedly and explained, "I gave her a lot of things before, and the luxury items would be worth a lot of money if sold."
"I just don't know if she's willing to help..."
As he spoke, a hint of regret was evident in his voice.
Lu Ziyi listened from the side, his heart stirred, but thinking about her recent attitude, he couldn't help but back down.
He hesitated for a moment, then slowly said, "But you did give it to her, so it's hers now. Isn't that a bit inappropriate?"
