☆, Chapter Forty-Four: Tracking
After reaching this conclusion, Si Zuochen's impression of Jiang Ran worsened.
This is a classic case of a weasel offering New Year's greetings to a chicken—it's all up to no good!
After finishing his thoughts, he glanced coldly at Jiang Ran's room, then turned and went back to his bedroom.
In the dead of night, Jiang Ran, who was fast asleep, had a furrowed brow and fine beads of sweat on her forehead, clearly suffering from a nightmare.
In the dream, thunder rumbled, dark clouds covered the sun, and a gale swept through the entire mountain forest, with one thunderclap after another exploding in the sky.
"Boom!"
Suddenly, a deafening clap of thunder exploded in the sky, accompanied by a bolt of lightning that streaked across the heavens and headed straight for her.
"ah!"
Jiang Ran was suddenly awakened, sat up abruptly, and felt a cold sweat on her body.
Recalling everything from the dream, she frowned slightly and rubbed her forehead.
This is the first time she has ever dreamed of being struck by lightning in her past life, and she still feels lingering fear when she thinks about it now.
Why would I dream of this out of the blue? Jiang Ran felt a chill in her palms. What was this dream foreshadowing?
Once startled awake, it's extremely difficult to fall back asleep. Jiang Ran turned on the bedside lamp and saw that it was only five o'clock.
I stretched slowly, got up and changed into my workout clothes to prepare for my morning exercise.
On the other hand, Si Zuochen was determined to keep an eye on Jiang Ran and expose her hypocrisy.
He got up before dawn to keep watch in the living room, but when he passed by her room, he suddenly found that no one was there.
Si Zuochen frowned slightly. He knew this woman was no good. She had sneaked out before dawn, and he wondered what she was up to.
Just as he turned to leave, a thought suddenly struck him, and he slipped into Jiang Ran's room.
Just as he was about to rummage through her things to find evidence of her crimes, a soft cough suddenly came from behind him.
Si Zuochen suddenly stopped and turned around. He saw Jiang Ran leaning against the door, looking at him with a half-smile.
"What are you looking for?"
Caught red-handed rummaging through things, especially in front of this woman, Si Zuochen's face instantly turned extremely ugly.
Jiang Ran watched the changes in his facial expressions and felt a surge of pleasure. It was truly rare to see him suffer, and she hadn't expected to witness such a scene so soon after returning.
interesting……
"Who contacted me!" Si Zuochen knew he had been exposed, but he stubbornly refused to admit it.
Jiang Ran chuckled upon hearing this, but Si Zuochen felt even more that she was mocking him.
Just as I was bracing myself for her sarcastic remarks, she smiled and said, "Come down and have breakfast."
Upon hearing this, Si Zuochen was startled, a hint of doubt appearing in his eyes.
Is she... not going to hold herself accountable?
Is this how we just move on?
Has the sun risen in the west? Is she just going to let this opportunity to teach herself a lesson slip by?
Just as he was wondering, Jiang Ran turned and left, and Si Zuochen quickly went out and followed closely behind.
Thinking of his embarrassing moment, he decided to strike first and asked in a cold voice, "Where did you go before dawn?"
"What's it to you?" Jiang Ran raised an eyebrow and asked.
Si Zuochen's face darkened, and he was about to retort when Jiang Ran continued, "Exercise."
"Exercise?" Si Zuochen scoffed, his tone full of skepticism: "You would exercise? What a joke!"
Hearing his words, Jiang Ran was not surprised at all; after all, he would seize any opportunity to diss her.
Jiang Ran acted as if she hadn't heard anything and went straight to the dining table to sit down.
Seeing that she didn't respond, Si Zuochen felt a little bored and remained silent as well.
After dinner, Si Zuochen sat in the living room playing a puzzle game called "Nine Linked Rings" to pass the time.
Her gaze swept over Jiang Ran as she came downstairs, and just then, the butler came up to her and reported something.
Si Zuochen pretended to walk past them unintentionally, and when Jiang Ran wasn't paying attention, he secretly put a locator in his bag, and then left as if nothing had happened.
He stood upstairs, watching Jiang Ran leave with a blank expression. Upon closer inspection, he realized that besides her personality, her clothing and appearance seemed quite different from before.
Before, she always dressed up like a phoenix whenever she went out, all flamboyant and extravagant.
But now she's dressed casually and only wearing light makeup.
Is it really possible for a person to change so much?
Si Zuochen couldn't help but feel suspicious. Just then, the nanny happened to pass by, and Si Zuochen couldn't help but ask if she had noticed anything unusual about Jiang Ran recently.
Upon hearing this, the nanny pondered for a moment before replying, "Indeed, Madam's temper is much better than before. She used to get very angry over the smallest things. Last time, I was cooking when something happened at home, and I left without telling Madam."
"As a result, my wife's lunch was much later than usual. I thought I would definitely be fired when I came back, but to my surprise, my wife didn't say anything. After hearing that my child was hospitalized, she even gave me two extra months' salary as a subsidy."
Hearing the nanny's words, a hint of doubt flashed across Si Zuochen's face.
What kind of woman could be so kind?
But the nanny didn't seem to be lying, and Si Zuochen felt his doubts growing deeper.
When did she begin to change?
“He’s been different ever since he fell into the water,” the nanny said in a low voice. “He’s like a completely different person.”
Upon hearing this, Si Zuochen nodded and replied, "Okay, I understand. Thank you."
After saying that, he turned and went back to his room.
Standing by the window, I coldly observed the outside world, pondering the information I had gleaned from the nanny.
If what she said is true, then everything makes sense, and that's when Ah Lin's opinion of her changed.
How could she suddenly change her mind?
Si Zuochen pondered for a long time and finally came to a conclusion that most resembled the truth.
If nothing unexpected happens, he must have been frightened when he fell into the water.
After thinking it through, my brow relaxed suddenly, and I felt a sense of clarity.
Then she went to the hospital to visit Si Youlin and told him her guesses.
"Hmm..." Si Youlin pondered for a moment, then asked, "So you still located her?"
Si Zuochen nodded, then tapped his watch twice, and a red GPS dot appeared on it.
She held out her hand to Si Youlin: "She's here."
Si Youlin looked at the landmark and asked in confusion, "A tea restaurant? What's she doing there?"
Upon hearing this, Si Zuochen scoffed coldly: "What else can I do? Meet my lover, of course."
Si Youlin's expression changed upon hearing this; the mere mention of Lu Ziyi, that scumbag, made him feel nauseous.
He really didn't understand. Jiang Ran had seen a lot of the world in the Si family, so why would she fall for such a scoundrel?
But then again, it's not surprising.
After all, Jiang Ran wasn't a good person in his eyes either.
"Brother, then you should go and keep an eye on her, and take pictures of the evidence of her crimes!"
Si Zuochen listened, nodded slightly, and replied, "Okay."
Then she stood up and helped Si Youlin tuck the blanket in, her eyes filled with a rare tenderness: "Then take good care of yourself, you'll be discharged in a few days."
"Um."
