Chapter 224 Questioning the Truth
Seeing his hesitation, Jiang Ran looked at Bai Zhuwei and a cold glint flashed in her eyes. She replied in a cold voice, "It's alright. Take her to the hospital first. Saving her life is the priority."
Seeing Jiang Ran's calm expression, Si Yanxiao was slightly taken aback. His eyes flickered, and he replied in a low voice, "Okay."
Having said that, he bent down, picked up Bai Zhuwei horizontally, and strode out.
Jiang Ran watched Si Yanxiao's departing figure, her brows furrowing slightly, a strange pang of sadness rising in her heart, but it vanished in an instant.
Seeing her lost in thought, the lead kidnapper's eyes suddenly sharpened. He silently withdrew from the fight, brandishing his weapon, and approached Jiang Ran step by step.
"careful!"
Jiang Ran heard a scream and turned around to see the kidnapper raise his weapon and stab her.
Seeing this, Jiang Ran's eyes flashed, and she kicked him squarely, making him stagger. Jiang Ran lowered her eyes slightly, not daring to delay, and quickly hid in a safe place.
Seeing this, the kidnapper panicked and, ignoring the pain in his abdomen, a fierce look flashed across his face as he gave chase. The bodyguards noticed the commotion but were deliberately held back by the other kidnappers.
Clearly, they had planned this all along. Jiang Ran's eyes suddenly sharpened. With no way to avoid it, she had no choice but to raise her hand to block. The kidnapper raised his knife and brought it down. Jiang Ran dodged to the side, avoiding a vital spot, but was still cut on the arm.
Jiang Ran winced in pain, her brows furrowing tightly, a cold glint appearing in her eyes.
Upon seeing this, a bloodthirsty glint flashed in the kidnapper's eyes. He raised the dagger in his hand and pressed his advantage, stabbing at her again.
Jiang Ran's expression changed drastically. Her eyes flashed, and she reached out and struck his pressure point with a heavy blow. The kidnapper felt his hand suddenly lose strength, and the dagger slipped from his grasp. He could only watch helplessly as Jiang Ran snatched it away.
Meanwhile, these thugs were no match for the well-trained bodyguards and were captured one by one.
The lead bodyguard looked at Jiang Ran, and seeing that she was not in danger, asked in a low voice, "Madam, what should we do with these people?"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Ran raised an eyebrow slightly but did not respond. She lowered her eyes to look at the kidnapper, a mocking glint in her eyes, and coldly sneered, "The outcome is already decided. What? Still planning to make a futile struggle?"
Upon hearing this, the kidnapper looked around and saw that his once arrogant subordinates were now captured and in a sorry state.
Upon seeing this, his expression instantly darkened, and he lowered his head, looking dejected: "I lost."
Jiang Ran pursed her lips slightly, then stepped in front of him. Upon seeing this, the bodyguard quickly stepped forward to restrain the kidnapper, to prevent him from doing anything rash in anger.
Seeing that he had accepted the facts, Jiang Ran's eyes narrowed, and she coldly questioned, "Since that's the case, tell me who's behind this, and I might consider sparing your life."
Upon hearing this, the kidnapper's expression suddenly hardened, and he replied in a deep voice with his neck stiff: "There is no mastermind behind this."
As he spoke, he paused slightly, looked down at a certain spot, lost in thought, and then explained, "These were all my ideas. I was greedy for money and found out that the woman was very important to Si Yanxiao, so I devised a plan to kidnap her."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Ran narrowed her eyes, her gaze scrutinizing him, and suddenly scoffed, "Your idea all by yourself? I don't believe you have such profound thoughts."
"I can understand being after money, but what does it mean to exchange me for Bai Zhuwei?"
"I advise you to tell the truth honestly and stop making futile struggles."
After saying that, he looked coldly at the kidnapper, who pursed his lips and refused to speak.
Seeing that he remained unmoved, the bodyguard couldn't help but kick him and coldly snapped, "Can't you hear me asking you a question?!"
The kidnapper stumbled from the kick, turned and glared angrily at the bodyguard, but due to the circumstances, he could only swallow his anger.
Jiang Ran walked slowly to him, her eyes narrowed, and she spoke softly, "Whether you tell me or not is your decision, but the more you hide it, the more curious I become."
"It's okay, I have plenty of time to slowly wear you down. Let's see if it's worth it to leave you with a criminal record and ruin your children's future because of that person behind you?"
Jiang Ran's tone was low, yet it carried an undeniable air of intimidation. The kidnapper's eyes flickered slightly as he listened to the threat in her words, his expression unreadable.
Jiang Ran didn't urge him, but tilted her head slightly and looked down at the person with cold eyes.
The kidnapper's expression froze, his lips pressed tightly together, as if he were deep in thought.
But it was only for a moment; his eyes were tightly closed, and a look of pain flashed across his face.
Noticing his unusual behavior, Jiang Ran was startled and quickly shouted, "Pry open his mouth!"
Then he quickly walked towards him. Upon hearing this, the bodyguard swiftly pried open his mouth, revealing a trace of blood inside.
Jiang Ran approached and examined it closely. Fortunately, it was discovered in time; before he could even react, there was only a slight cut on his tongue.
Seeing this, Jiang Ran's eyes suddenly turned cold. She then stood up and looked down at him, her eyes filled with icy intent. She spoke in a cold voice, mockingly, "Still planning to bite your tongue and commit suicide? Foolish!"
"You really think this will kill you instantly? Let me tell you, biting your tongue to commit suicide is either a matter of dying from the pain or bleeding to death. Think about it carefully, the tongue has a complex network of blood vessels and is extremely sensitive. How much force would you have to use to bite it off?"
"Even if you bite down, you still have to wait until you're in excruciating pain. Can you really endure that kind of pain?!"
Jiang Ran explained the underlying principle in a cold voice, and the kidnapper's face turned deathly pale upon hearing it.
I thought it would be something as simple as gritting my teeth and closing my eyes, but I never expected to suffer like this.
Seeing his strange expression, Jiang Ran curled her lips slightly and suddenly sneered, "I want to see who is behind this and who has made you go to such lengths!"
As he spoke, a mocking expression appeared on his face, and a cold glint flashed in his eyes.
On the other hand, after Si Youlin told Si Zuochen about everything in detail, the two conspired to find an excuse to lie that the school had a temporary arts performance that required rehearsals.
After hearing this, Old Master Si did not suspect anything.
After leaving the old house, the two discussed it briefly and then went to the Si Group to find Gu Nan.
Gu Nan was dealing with the kidnappers, trying to find some clues from them.
Just then, the phone on the table suddenly rang. Gu Nan looked down and saw the caller ID on the screen. A hint of doubt flashed in her eyes. She then swiped to answer the call.
He asked softly, "Ah Chen?"
Gu Nan faintly heard Si Zuochen's voice from the receiver. Upon hearing this, Gu Nan frowned slightly: "Are you downstairs at the company?"
"Wait for me, I'll be right down."
After saying that, he hung up the phone.
As soon as I stepped out of the company's main entrance, I looked around and saw Si Youlin standing at the corner not far away, waving at me.
Gu Nan's gaze darkened slightly as she strode towards them.
Before Si Youlin could explain his purpose, he immediately asked in a deep voice, "Just the two of you? Where's the driver?"
After all, what had happened before was still vivid in his mind, and he was genuinely afraid of them going out alone.
If anything were to happen to me, I'm afraid I would regret it too late!
Si Zuochen sensed the worry in his voice and quickly explained, "The driver is not far away. He brought us here. Don't worry."
Upon hearing this, Gu Nan's expression softened slightly, and she asked, "What are you doing at the company? What happened?"
"No." Si Zuochen slowly shook his head, then looked up at Gu Nan with a serious expression and asked directly, "Uncle Anan, where is Daddy now?"
After hearing this, Gu Nan pursed her lips slightly and replied in a deep voice, "I'm not quite sure either."
Upon hearing this, Si Zuochen's eyes suddenly sharpened, and he said in a low voice, "We already know about this, so there's no need for you to hide it from us."
He paused slightly, a cold glint flashing in his eyes, before continuing in a deep voice, "That woman was kidnapped, and Father took Jiang Ran to exchange her for her, didn't he?!"
There was a hint of questioning in her words, and Gu Nan's eyes flashed with surprise upon hearing this. She exclaimed in astonishment, "How did you know?!"
Si Zuochen pursed his lips slightly, and with a simple "It's a long story" he shut him down.
Seeing this, Si Youlin quickly spoke up and asked, "Uncle Anan, please tell us! You know how much influence that woman has on Daddy. He might really be keeping Jiang Ran there as a hostage!"
Seeing the anxiety on Si Youlin's face, Gu Nan's eyes flashed, and a myriad of thoughts raced through her mind.
He really didn't know whether he should feel gratified for Jiang Ran or ashamed for Si Yanxiao.
It's comforting that her two children are able to put themselves in her shoes and worry about her when they thought something had happened to her.
