Chapter 50: Talismans for Peace and Safety
Her recent unusual behavior clearly indicates that she wants to ease tensions with them.
She spoke up for them this time because she wanted to get closer to them; there must be something about them that she wanted to get!
After figuring this out, Si Zuochen looked at Jiang Ran with a hint of mockery.
Our tricks have all been seen through. Still trying to outsmart them? Dream on!
Jiang Ran naturally sensed Si Zuochen's hostility towards her and more or less guessed his thoughts, but she didn't say much. After all, she didn't need their understanding; she had her own selfish reasons for accepting this matter.
Judging from Song Yuqing's attempt to give herself a talisman today, it's clear that she was definitely involved in that incident.
Perhaps if we follow her lead, we can uncover a bigger fish.
Forgiving her was also for this reason; she wanted to investigate and find out exactly what had happened.
Grandpa Si looked at Si Youlin with loving eyes and said softly, "Grandpa's birthday is the day after tomorrow. You must get well soon so you can attend."
Upon hearing this, Si Youlin's eyes lit up, and he repeatedly replied, "Okay."
Grandpa Si chuckled upon hearing this, then gave Gu Nan a few instructions, mostly about taking good care of her.
Then he gave Jiang Ran a meaningful look.
Jiang Ran lowered her eyes, realizing that while this person was ostensibly speaking to Gu Nan, they were actually hinting at something to her.
That's quite a scheme.
"Then I'll be going now," said Old Master Si as he stood up. Everyone saw him off at the door, while the butler waited downstairs.
Just as the old man was about to get into the car, Jiang Ran suddenly chased after him and called out from behind, "Please wait a moment."
Upon hearing this, Old Master Si paused in his steps and turned around to look.
Jiang Ran quickly walked a few steps and handed the old man a talisman.
Old Master Si reached out and took it, his face showing surprise: "This is..."
Jiang Ran smiled sheepishly, then explained, "This is a talisman I got for you from the mountain, to ensure your safety."
At this point, she suddenly found it somewhat ridiculous. Wasn't this exactly the same line that Song Yuqing had used in front of her?
Now, however, he has relayed his own words to someone else, but fortunately, the starting point was different.
She continued, "Aren't you having your birthday in a couple of days? I don't know what to give you, and you don't lack anything materially, so this is just to show my appreciation."
Hearing Jiang Ran's words, Old Master Si laughed heartily, his joy evident in his expression.
He nodded repeatedly in praise, saying, "That's so thoughtful of you."
Jiang Ran smiled slightly: "It's all what I should do."
The butler watched this scene with a puzzled expression, and whispered a reminder: "It's time to go, Mr. Zhou is still waiting at the villa."
I heard that it was Mr. Si's birthday, and those who couldn't come on the day would visit him in advance.
Upon hearing this, Grandpa Si nodded and then said to Jiang Ran, "Please take good care of Ah Lin."
Jiang Ran nodded slightly, and Old Master Si waved to her before turning and leaving.
Watching his retreating figure, Jiang Ran sighed softly.
She observed the old man for a long time in the ward and noticed that although he looked healthy on the surface, he was not.
Internal weakness with external health, yet gloomy energy gathers at the top of the head, is a symptom of chronic illness that lingers in the bed.
Fortunately, it was discovered in time, and the talisman she gave him was able to alleviate the gloom in his body.
This can also be considered a way for a younger generation to show filial piety.
On the way back to the villa, the butler seemed hesitant to speak, and Old Master Si raised an eyebrow slightly: "Say what you want to say."
The butler rubbed his forehead and said, "Master, you should throw away the talisman that person just gave you. What if it's not for protection..."
"Metaphysics can be a big deal or a small deal, so it's always good to be safe just in case."
Upon hearing this, Old Master Si frowned, his expression somewhat displeased: "It's nothing, just as she said, it's merely a junior's token of appreciation."
"Even if there's something wrong with it, I don't believe in it, so naturally I'm not afraid."
"But……"
The butler was about to say something when the old man waved his hand, indicating that he didn't need to say anything more, and then closed his eyes to rest.
Knowing that further discussion would be pointless, he sighed and had no choice but to let it be.
On the other side, after the old man left, Jiang Ran turned around and went back to the hospital.
When Si Zuochen saw her return, he scoffed coldly, "What are you doing back here?"
Jiang Ran glanced at him slightly but didn't answer. She sat down and started playing on her phone.
Seeing that she didn't respond, Si Zuochen felt as if he had punched a cotton ball, and felt indescribably frustrated.
He couldn't help but speak up sarcastically again: "What? Back to put on a show for others again?"
"If you're just pretending, then I'm telling you there's no need for that, because no one will believe you. Even if Grandpa is fooled by you now, your true nature will be revealed soon."
Jiang Ran raised an eyebrow slightly as she listened to Si Zuochen's incessant chatter.
She always thought he was the quiet one, but it turns out he wasn't quiet; she just hadn't touched his heart.
"Nature?" Jiang Ran tilted her head and said, "I'd like to ask you what my nature is in your eyes."
Si Zuochen glanced at her coldly: "Insidious, cunning, arrogant, and reckless..."
"Stop!" Jiang Ran interrupted him just as he was about to continue his rambling.
She figured it out: in his eyes, she was definitely not a good person.
"Do you think so too?" Jiang Ran looked down at Si Youlin.
Si Youlin was surprised to be mentioned suddenly. His eyes flashed, and thinking of what she had done before, he snorted coldly and turned his head to the side.
Although he didn't say anything, he tacitly acknowledged his stance.
Seeing this, Jiang Ran nodded, as if talking to herself: "So this is how you all see me."
"No wonder you all think everything I do is fake..."
Looking at her, Si Zuochen felt a strange sadness in the atmosphere. Then he thought that it was probably just another trick she used to show weakness.
Then he said coldly, "Pretending! I'm warning you, make sure that woman doesn't come here again!"
"I feel disgusted just looking at her. Don't say I didn't warn you. If she comes again, I'll have her kicked out of the hospital. She can't blame anyone else if she embarrasses herself." I thought Jiang Ran would speak up for the woman after hearing this, but unexpectedly, Jiang Ran just smiled and replied, "Okay."
Si Zuochen and Si Youlin looked up at her at the same time, and she continued to speak.
"You did well today. Next time you see her, just kick her out like this."
Si Youlin was slightly taken aback: "You really think so?"
Jiang Ran smiled warmly: "Mm."
"From now on, there's no need to see these unrelated people; they're just idle chatterboxes anyway."
Her tone was sincere, not like she was faking it.
Si Youlin couldn't help but ask, "Did you have some kind of conflict with her?"
Jiang Ran lowered her eyes, unsure whether she should tell them that she already knew her true colors.
