Chapter 156 Protecting from Disaster

Chapter 156 Protecting from Disaster

After all, this whole thing started because of him, so he couldn't just leave him to go to the hospital alone.

The doctor, seeing that he was unharmed, looked shocked: "Were you in this car just now?"

Jiang Yuechen nodded slightly and replied, "Mm."

"That's really strange..." the doctor muttered to himself, then turned to look at the driver's injuries.

As Jiang Yuechen listened to his words, doubts arose in his own mind, and he suddenly recalled what Jiang Ran had told him the day before.

His eyes flashed, and he quickly reached into his pocket, only to find that the place where he used to keep the talismans was now empty.

Jiang Yuechen's face showed shock, and his heart was filled with disbelief.

Could it be that her words really hit the nail on the head?

Jiang Yuechen followed the ambulance all the way to the hospital. Given his physical limitations, the hospital thoughtfully sent someone to help him to the emergency room.

After a long while, the doctor came out of the operating room and said reassuringly, "The patient's brain injury is only superficial and nothing serious. I suggest that he be hospitalized for observation for a few days to see if there are any sequelae."

"Okay." Upon hearing this, Jiang Yuechen nodded and quickly agreed.

Just then, his phone rang abruptly. Jiang Yuechen looked at the doctor apologetically and said in a low voice, "I'm sorry."

The doctor immediately understood and replied, "It's alright, I've already explained everything."

After saying that, he turned and left.

Jiang Yuechen glanced down at the caller ID, his expression changed in surprise, and he quickly swiped to answer.

"Brother, where are you? Are you alright?"

Jiang Ran's voice slowly came through the receiver. Hearing her question, Jiang Yuechen paused, his face full of surprise.

From the tone of her words, it was clear that she knew something had happened to her...

Seeing that there was no response from this side for a long time, Jiang Ran knew that he would be fine because of the talisman, but he still couldn't help feeling a little anxious.

Then he asked, "Brother, are you even listening to me?"

When she urged him, Jiang Yuechen snapped out of his daze and quickly replied, "Yes, I heard you."

Then, with a slight pursing of her lips and undisguised shock in her eyes, she asked in a trembling voice, "How did you know I was in trouble?"

After listening, Jiang Ran slowly explained, "When I was talking to Achen just now, I felt a vague unease in my heart, and I guessed that something might have happened to you."

"We'll see..."

As he spoke, he paused slightly, hesitated for a moment, and then continued, "I already warned you before, but you just didn't believe me."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Yuechen felt an even stronger sense of surprise. He instantly gained a new understanding of the situation before him, and some novel and strange thoughts flashed through his mind.

A thousand thoughts churned in his mind, and he was filled with horror.

"I thought you were just opening a branch out of curiosity," Jiang Yuechen replied in a deep voice.

Who would have thought she actually had real skills? Then, as if suddenly remembering something, a look of worry flashed across her face, and she quickly asked, "By the way, what happened to you? Why are you in the hospital?"

Hearing his question, Jiang Ran was taken aback. When she heard that it was a call from the hospital, she immediately understood. She simply said that she suddenly felt unwell and refused to mention what had happened in the early hours of the morning.

Jiang Yuechen didn't think much of it and hung up the phone after saying a few simple words.

I went to the ward to take care of the driver until he woke up, and only left after I had hired a caregiver.

Jiang Ran had previously mentioned to him that she was currently taking care of Si Zuochen at another hospital, so Jiang Yuechen came straight here.

When they arrived at the ward, Gu Nan happened to be away from the door. Jiang Yuechen pushed the door open and saw only Si Zuochen and Si Youlin.

Upon seeing him, the two looked delighted and exclaimed in unison, "Uncle!"

A hint of doubt flashed across Jiang Yuechen's face: "Where's Aran?"

Si Zuochen replied, "She is not feeling well, so she is resting in the next room."

Upon hearing this, a hint of anxiety flashed across Jiang Yuechen's face. He casually responded twice and then left to walk towards the next room.

"Knock knock knock—"

A sudden knock sounded at the door. Jiang Ran paused slightly as she turned the pages of her book, and slowly said, "Come in!"

Jiang Yuechen pushed open the door and entered, his face clearly showing his anxiety. He quickly walked up to Jiang Ran, and felt relieved when he saw that she looked normal and there was nothing wrong with her.

When Jiang Ran saw him arrive, the corners of her lips curled up slightly; it was expected and not surprising.

He called out directly, "Brother."

Jiang Yuechen nodded slightly, but his brow remained furrowed. He slowly sat down and asked softly, "Where do you feel unwell? Why are you in the hospital?"

Jiang Ran coughed lightly twice, a hint of unease flashing across her face, and casually replied, "I suddenly felt a stomachache last night, but I'm fine now."

"Hmm." Jiang Yuechen responded slightly. After chatting for a few more minutes, the topic of the car accident came up, and something suddenly popped into Jiang Yuechen's mind.

His eyes narrowed slightly, and he asked in a deep voice, "By the way, didn't you give me a talisman earlier? I noticed it was in my pocket before I left, but it mysteriously disappeared after the car accident."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Ran smiled slightly and chuckled, then explained, "That was originally a talisman to protect you from disaster. Since nothing happened, it naturally has no need to exist anymore."

Jiang Yuechen was originally a staunch materialist who never believed in metaphysics or other bizarre things. But now, after experiencing it firsthand, his heart suddenly changed, and he gradually began to believe what Jiang Ran said.

————

Since Jiang Ran was hospitalized, Jiang Yuechen has resumed the care she received at the hospital, and they go back and forth between the villa and the hospital every day.

Si Yanxiao hadn't appeared in front of him for the past few days. He only glanced into her ward when he passed by it while visiting Si Zuochen.

He saw Jiang Ran behaving intimately with a man, chatting and laughing. Upon seeing this, Si Yanxiao's eyes instantly sharpened, and his expression darkened slightly.

He asked Gu Nan beside him in a cold voice, "Who is he?"

Gu Nan followed his gaze and then slowly shook her head: "I don't know, but I do come here every day."

Upon hearing this, Si Yanxiao's expression instantly turned ugly. He lowered his eyes and looked into the room, coldly scoffing, "She's quite reckless, daring to meet her lover right next door?"

Having said that, a surge of anger welled up inside him, and he pushed open the door and went inside.

Gu Nan was about to speak up to stop her, but she was too late.

Si Yanxiao suddenly barged in, and Jiang Ran stopped mid-sentence, looking up at him with a hint of confusion on her face, and asked, "Why are you here?"

Si Yanxiao glanced at Jiang Yuechen, then turned his gaze to Jiang Ran, and suddenly sneered, "If you hadn't come, you wouldn't have been able to witness such a spectacular scene?"

Hearing the sarcasm in his words, Jiang Ran frowned and asked coldly, "What do you mean?"

Jiang Yuechen also realized that he was up to no good, and looked up at him. Their eyes met instantly, and sparks flew through the air countless times, but Jiang Yuechen did not back down.

"Shouldn't I be asking you that?" Si Yanxiao's lips curled slightly, a hint of disdain flashing across his face. "Achen is right next door. You brought your lover here without considering his feelings? Or have you become so brazen that you don't care about your own reputation at all?"

"Jiang Ran, are you really that indiscriminate in your choices?" Si Yanxiao mocked.

Jiang Ran's expression changed upon hearing this. Normally, she would definitely argue with Si Yanxiao, but with Jiang Yuechen right beside her, she found Si Yanxiao's words extremely harsh, as if he had nailed her to a pillar of shame, making her feel ashamed.

Jiang Yuechen, who was listening from the side, suddenly turned ugly. He looked coldly at Si Yanxiao and, before Jiang Ran could speak, retorted sarcastically, "You haven't even asked about the matter clearly before you've started to label people. Is this the family tradition and upbringing of your Si family?"

Si Yanxiao listened to Jiang Yuechen's words, his eyes flashing slightly. Every word he uttered was laced with sarcasm, even though he didn't use any vulgar language.

Then, she lowered her eyes and looked at him seriously, unusually taking the person next to Jiang Ran seriously. After sizing him up for a moment, she sneered again: "What? You think you can stand up for her?"

"Is that not allowed?" Jiang Yuechen's expression turned slightly cold as he rebuked sharply, "You're accusing someone without even asking questions. Am I wrong?"

Si Yanxiao could clearly sense his hostility towards him, and seeing the mockery in his words, his brows furrowed slightly, and a hint of doubt flashed across his face.

He didn't remember ever seeing this person before, but his attitude towards him was clearly not befitting his "status".

How dare they speak so arrogantly in front of him?
