Chapter Ninety-Eight: The Man Behind the Scenes (10)

She used the same trick she used on the scumbag boyfriend before, and slapped the old lady's arm hard, hitting her right where it hurt.

The old lady quickly grabbed her wrist and subconsciously moved to the side.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Song Yuwei quickly wheeled herself away.

This wheelchair is very fast; if it were at top speed, the old woman wouldn't be able to catch up at all.

However, halfway there, Song Yuwei suddenly discovered that the wheelchair had run out of power.

She saw a lot of people ahead, so she drove towards them. By the time the wheelchair stopped in front of them, the battery was almost dead.

She hurriedly said to them, "I need your help. Is there anyone who can help me? There's an old lady following me, asking me to fill out some random city survey."

But I really have something very important to do and can't stay here any longer. But this old lady is so strange; she insists that I fill out this questionnaire for her.

Otherwise, she'll keep bothering me, and I'm scared. She's still chasing me right now. I hope that when she comes over, you can say you're my friend and talk to her. Maybe she'll be scared away by us all.

After hearing her story, the others felt that they could indeed help her. After all, everyone would sympathize with a girl who was being harassed by an unreasonable old woman in the middle of the night.

They discussed it and nodded.

"Of course there's no problem. When she gets here, we'll ask her what she really means. And since she's been harassing you like this, you can call the police. If you do, the old lady will probably be scared out of her wits and never dare to do that to anyone again."

We encountered an elderly woman like this a while ago. I helped her cross the road, and she asked me if I could lend her money so she could buy a watermelon.

After I lent her the money and left her my phone number, she never contacted me again. Even though it was just the price of a watermelon, I called her and asked her why. I felt that no matter how much money was lent out, there should be a final answer. But the old lady just said that once money is lent out, it should be given away. Why do you have to ask for it back?

I was furious at the time. From then on, I knew that not all elderly people deserved sympathy. Some elderly people are just bad. They take advantage of their age to extort money from others, demanding help, and if others refuse, they become enraged.

Song Yuwei deeply sympathized. She had only seen such things on the news before, like an old lady fainting on the street and a kind person helping her up.

As a result, she and her family sued the person, claiming that she had been pushed down, something she had initially found extremely rare.

After all, she was too well protected in her previous life and truly believed that the world was so good and beautiful. But now she realizes that when she actually enters society and comes into contact with all sorts of people, she finds that things are not as simple as she imagined.

Some people are completely hidden from view; you can't see through their facade to discern whether what lies beneath is a human heart or a demonic obsession.

Soon, the old woman caught up with him, limping.

When she saw Song Yuwei, she shouted, "Hey, little girl, why did you run so far? I had to chase after you all this way. What are you doing running so far? I just wanted you to fill out a questionnaire for me, why are you reacting so strongly?"

"Besides, I never said I was going to cure you. You made me work myself to death chasing you, what are you trying to achieve by doing all this?"

Before Song Yuwei could even speak, those who had just asked for her help spoke up for her.

"Auntie, what exactly do you want? We're good friends. My friend just said that you insisted on making her fill out some random questionnaire. She has things to do, so why are you bothering her? And does she have an obligation to fill out any questionnaire for you?"

Is this her duty? Or does it have anything to do with her? Does she know you? Why are you bothering her like this and making her upset? Your behavior constitutes harassment, okay? If my friend were more forgiving, she could easily call the police or sue you.

Don't take advantage of your age and gray hair to bully us young people, okay? Whether you're young or old, you can only be categorized as one type of person: a bad person. You're so bad that you're now begging for help everywhere. You're really not pitiful at all.

"If you hadn't insisted on bothering her, we could have helped you write something. After all, there are so many of us, we could write a lot. But with your attitude, we simply can't feel any pity for you."

After listening, the old woman looked at the people at the table, especially the men, who all looked strong and tall with tattoos and a sour expression. They looked like they were not to be trifled with.

She instantly lost her previous aggressive demeanor. She had been quite confident just now, but now, seeing Song Yuwei's group of friends, so imposing and so intimidating, she realized how much she was at ease.

She rolled her eyes and suddenly said, "Oh dear, I had no choice. I had no choice but to do such a shameless thing. I'm already quite old, so of course I know what kind of things are particularly shameless. But I didn't do it on purpose. I make a living by asking other people for a city survey questionnaire every day."

If I don't do this, I'll have a hard time even eating, and my husband has a cold that he's been taking medicine for a long time without getting better. She's spending a lot of money, and I'm already very poor.

I really don't know what to do, because I've never encountered anything major before. At most, I just pick up trash, sweep the streets, and ask people if they can do a survey. So I don't think there's anything wrong with this happening, because if it were me, I would definitely help them fill it out.

Perhaps everyone has different views, especially an old woman like me who doesn't really understand you young people. Don't take it personally. After all, I didn't realize that this kind of thing was wrong, which is why I acted this way.

If I had realized my mistake, I definitely wouldn't have let it happen. Thank you all. I have to go now; I need to go back and take care of my husband. I'm just very sad that I still won't be able to buy him his medicine when I get home today. I don't know if he can hold on.
