Chapter Sixty-Six: Warmth

"I'm sorry, Jiang Mo, it was my fault. I've been a very incompetent brother."

Jiang Cheng slowly walked up to him and handed him the bottle of water.

Jiang Mo lifted his eyelids in surprise, staring intently at Jiang Cheng for a good ten seconds. Suddenly, he smiled, a very happy smile, revealing his small tiger teeth. "Brother! Are you all better?"

Jiang Cheng nodded slightly and gave him a gentle smile.

His smile, however, seemed to be just an expression.

Song Yuwei always felt that the two brothers were hiding a lot of things, especially Jiang Cheng. He seemed dull and clueless, but her intuition told her that there must be a reason why he had become like this.

"Brother, you usually have other personalities most of the time and rarely revert to your normal personality. How come you've recovered in less than 24 hours today?"

Jiang Mo was overjoyed, because the longer Jiang Cheng was ill, the less he could see his real brother. Sometimes he might not be able to recover even once a week.

Seeing his older brother, whom he used to admire, transformed into a child-like figure, he still felt very uncomfortable, even though he had been ill for a long time.

So every time he recovers, he is the happiest one.

"I don't know, maybe it's because my condition has improved."

Jiang Cheng found an excuse to avoid Jiang Mo's burning gaze and looked away.

Song Yuwei was right where he was looking. She was sitting in a wheelchair, the setting sun shining on her, as if coating her with a warm halo. She smiled gently at him.

Jiang Cheng's mind flashed back to the scene of Song Yuwei saving him that day.

Despite being thin, frail, and all alone, she bravely stood up when facing so many criminals, showing no fear even when threatened.

I don't know if she's faking it, or if she doesn't want others to see her cowardly side. It's like she can actually stand up and walk, but she insists on pretending that she has a lower body injury and can't walk, so she has to sit in a wheelchair.

He didn't know what her purpose was in doing this, nor did he know why she had suffered a spinal cord injury. The doctor determined that she couldn't stand up, but she could still walk, and at one point she could even run with him.

"Brother, your wife took you to the hospital today. Do you remember what you two did there?"

Jiang Mo asked tentatively, eager to hear what Jiang Cheng could say, because that would prove he could retain memories of the illness.

Jiang Cheng shook his head, "I don't remember."

Jiang Mo sighed, like a punctured balloon. Well, no matter how he talked to him or took him out to have fun, he wouldn't remember.

It's a pity that he can't remember even one or two of his many beautiful and precious memories.

When Song Yuwei heard this, unlike Jiang Mo's disappointment, she breathed a sigh of relief.

After all, the strawberry ice cream in front of them was an indirect kiss, but was it really an indirect kiss?

Jiang Cheng only ate the part she had bitten, but she didn't eat his.

Thinking about this, she felt a little confused. Why was she starting to think about such trivial and childish things?

Is it because only her parents, her closest relatives, have ever eaten the things she's bitten, and no one else has?

To be precise, even her parents only ate the things she bit when she was very young, and they didn't eat them after she grew up.

He's the first one...

"Sister-in-law, what's on your mind? Is there some problem you haven't solved today? Do you need my help?"

Jiang Mo noticed that Song Yuwei was frowning and staring at one spot, and assumed that she was troubled by something.

He now completely considers Song Yuwei as one of his own, like a brother. She's willing to speak up for him, so he thinks she's a really good person.

After all, most people would probably choose to keep quiet and listen silently in such a situation. It's a thankless task, and doing it would only make people think you're meddling in other people's business, so why bother?

So she was able to see his suffering as something, which means she treated him like a brother!

"It's nothing. I was just thinking about what to wear tomorrow, whether the weather will be nice. I've already taken care of things at my own company."

Song Yuwei came to her senses and said to him.

Upon hearing this, Jiang Mo sighed, "Well, I guess I still don't understand girls..."

She even thinks about the weather and clothes a day in advance; it seems my sister-in-law is quite particular.

"What's all this talk about, you three?"

Madam Jiang came downstairs at that moment, and asked with a smile, showing concern for her junior.

"Oh, it's nothing, we were just chatting."

Jiang Mo said casually that he couldn't say he disliked Madam Jiang, but he seemed quite distant from her.

This is Song Yuwei's observation. She found this family to be really interesting, which gave her a new understanding of the word "family".

"I've asked Auntie to cook a nice meal today. You can all eat at home for dinner. This is Yuwei's first meal at our house, and we want to celebrate her joining our family!"

Madam Jiang had a soft and authentic voice, and she was always very polite, gentle, and considerate.

Jiang Mo naturally agreed without hesitation, "Of course."

Jiang Cheng nodded at this moment.

Seeing the change in his eyes and expression, Madam Jiang paused, then narrowed her eyes in confusion: "Jiang Mo, has your brother returned to normal? Or have his other personalities reappeared? Why does he seem so different?"

Shouldn't it have been a silly, innocent look in his eyes, with a bewildered expression?

But now he seems to have reverted to his cold, aloof, and ruthless nature; even his eyes send chills down your spine with just one glance.

She still remembered the first time she met him. He was just a child then, and his expression was like that of an emotionless lump of iron, which was quite creepy.

It still leaves her with a psychological scar!

"Oh yes, my second brother seems to be much better. He recovered yesterday and is even better today."

Jiang Mo said from the side, looking very happy.

"Oh, that's great." Madam Jiang subconsciously took two steps back, but her expression was one of joy and delight. "Being able to return to normal means she can have a good chat with Yuwei."

Just as Song Yuwei was about to say something, her phone rang. It was Zhao Yunye calling.

She answered the call.

Zhao Yunye: "Daughter! The security guard at the Jiang family said that no outsiders are allowed to enter without the permission of the Jiang family. Could you tell the security guard that?"

Song Yuwei turned the volume up to the maximum. Jiang Cheng was close to her, and his hearing was very sensitive, so he heard it too.

He took the phone from her hand. Before Song Yuwei could say anything, he snatched the phone away. She opened her mouth, hesitated, and then shut up when she saw his action.
