Chapter Twenty-Eight: Why Are You Using Me?

This time, Lin Huali finally stopped beating around the bush and trying to get close to her. Seeing that Song Yuwei had no patience to deal with him, he went straight to the point.

"What does something happening at home have to do with me? Is this even my home?"

Song Yuwei didn't answer but instead asked a question, showing no mercy whatsoever.

Yet, when she speaks, she still has the appearance of a naive and innocent young girl, pure and harmless, looking so innocent.

Her words were incredibly sharp, clearly stinging the other three people present.

"Song Yuwei, you can't say that, can you? Although our house isn't your house, you've stayed here for a few days, haven't you? You've enjoyed our good treatment these past few days, being waited on hand and foot. As the saying goes, a drop of kindness should be repaid with a spring of gratitude. We've done more than just a drop of kindness, haven't we?"

Ren Yuran immediately resorted to moral blackmail.

Song Yuwei scoffed, "Sister, what you said is so wonderful."

She then applauded her earnestly.

Ren Yuran stood there awkwardly, unable to calm herself down for a long time.

Lin Huali finally spoke up: "Yuwei, your uncle knows that you must have had a tough time these past years, experiencing hardships that most people can't imagine. But the reason I'm having you help with some family matters or put in a good word for us isn't because I want you to do anything. It's because I need you to contribute to our family. In other words, in my eyes, you are part of our family, and we will always welcome you back."

Song Yuwei nodded, "I understand, Uncle. To be honest, you are 100 times better at talking than your daughter. If your daughter had your emotional intelligence and IQ, and was as smooth as you, then your empire would be hers in the future. Unfortunately, she doesn't have that ability."

Song Yuwei's words were absolutely explosive. She neither answered Lin Huali's sentimental attempt to make a family together, nor did she offer to help them. Instead, she went straight to the point and began to criticize Ren Yuran.

Ren Yuran was so angry that she couldn't sit still. She suddenly stood up and said, "Song Yuwei! How dare you be so arrogant as to insult me! Do you really think you're so great just because you married into a wealthy family? Let me tell you, don't be too happy too soon, because you don't know whether you've entered a blissful dream or a terrible nightmare!"

Song Yuwei nodded, "Whether it's a blissful dream or a terrifying nightmare, I'm willing to accept it. Because I came here for a thrill, understand?"

Song Yuwei exuded domineering aura. After finishing her sentence, she turned to Lin Huali and said, "And you, my good uncle, ask yourself, can you live with your conscience? Don't think I don't know that this house was bought by my parents, and that they also paid for the renovation. It's just that when they passed away, the house wasn't finished yet, so I've never been here before."

And you, you thief! You've taken over this house, taken everything from my parents, but you haven't kept your promise to take care of me like you promised them, to pamper me like your own daughter. Instead, you've ignored me completely! You've left me in misery! All these years you've slept in this house, weren't you afraid that in the middle of the night a ghost would knock on the door and it would be my parents coming to confront you?

Song Yuwei really couldn't hold back anymore. It was so damn boring to argue with these idiots all the time!

It would be better to do something more satisfying, to expose them directly and reveal their ugly faces.

It's much better to give them a good scolding than to see their hypocritical faces every day!

After Song Yuwei finished speaking, she rolled her wheelchair toward the door.

No one stopped her; she left the Lin family home without any hindrance and then hailed a taxi at the intersection.

Because it was so late, there were practically no taxis left on the road.

Song Yuwei opened an app to hail a ride, and then saw a message pop up.

“Yuwei, I’ve thought about it and I still think I should respect your decision. But I’ve learned some information about that young master Jiang and I want to tell you about it.”

It was a message from Zhao Yunye.

Song Yuwei had originally planned to stay at a hotel tonight, but after seeing this message, she changed her plans.

"Dad, I'm going to the Zhao family right now. Can you send someone to pick me up?"

She replied in text.

Zhao Yunye was somewhat surprised after receiving the reply; he clearly hadn't expected his daughter to still be awake at this hour.

I thought she would see it tomorrow and then reply to him.

"Okay, then daughter, why don't you stay at home after you come over? It's only for one night, and it's not convenient to travel back and forth."

After sending the message, Zhao Yunye immediately called his driver and ordered him to go to the Lin family to pick up Song Yuwei and take her back.

Meanwhile, Zhao Yunye's driver was enjoying a rare evening with his wife, lost in their own world.

After being interrupted by Zhao Yunye's phone call, his wife immediately became unhappy.

She grumbled as she put on her coat, pointing at him and telling him not to come home tonight.

Driver: Waaaaaah! Boss! Can't you have a little humanity?!

Immediately, he ran up to his wife and apologized, "Wife, wife, I was wrong, I shouldn't have done that, I'm so sorry!"

Song Yuwei waited and waited in front of the Lin family's house for a long time before a Land Rover finally drove up.

After getting out of the car, the driver said to her apologetically, "I'm so sorry, miss! I'm really sorry! I was delayed for so long because of some family matters..."

The driver apologized repeatedly, but Song Yuwei naturally wouldn't hold such a small matter against him. "It's nothing."

After getting in the car, the driver immediately started the engine and sped off, taking Song Yuwei back to the Zhao family as quickly as possible.

As a result, Song Yuwei had to hold onto her seatbelt tightly the whole time, afraid that the car would throw her out if she wasn't careful.

"Actually, it doesn't have to be so fast..." she said, softening her tone.

The driver floored the gas pedal, "No, no, no! Miss, you don't understand!"

When he arrived at the Zhao family's house in fifteen minutes, he practically jumped out of the driver's seat and quickly helped her take the wheelchair out of the trunk.

After Song Yuwei was put in a wheelchair, he became even more agile, taking long strides and running wildly through the Zhao family's courtyard.

Song Yuwei still couldn't understand why he was in such a hurry.

When they arrived at the main hall of the Zhao family, he opened the door and, with a death-defying resolve, pushed Song Yuwei inside.

"Mr. Zhao, I've brought Miss back."

He said weakly.

Zhao Yunye hurriedly came forward and asked, annoyed, "What happened? There couldn't possibly be traffic at this hour, could there? Why did it take you so long to bring my daughter here?"

The driver felt his legs trembling. Zhao Yunye was known for his strictness, meticulousness, and intolerantness of any flaws.

His lips trembled; he desperately didn't want to lose his job.

But to his surprise, before he could even speak, Song Yuwei said directly, "Dad, I suddenly remembered that I forgot something on the way, so I went back to look for it. I searched for a long time, which did take up a lot of time."
