Chapter 191 Adoption, Boy and Girl

She simply sighed. What could she say?

She said she didn't know that person at all, yet she adopted their child with just a few words.

If I told you that, who would believe me?

The matter of those things cannot be discussed; at this point, those things could very well become death warrants.

If it can't be said, then it can only be a white lie.

"Not really. I only found out after I went to see that person that he was my dad's friend. So, in a way, this kid is related to me."

As you all know, my father is a martyr. Even for my father's sake, I can't just stand by and watch him die.

Otherwise, would I be that reckless?

Truth and falsehood are intertwined; some are true, some are false.

Whether you believe it or not, you can't pry too much; even the best of relationships have privacy.

However, now that she thought about it, she realized that this child had arrived out of nowhere without any household registration or paperwork; he was a complete unregistered resident. She would have to think of a solution.

After buying vegetables and dry rations, the sun was already setting. Little Shengshi sat eagerly on the oxcart, waiting for Jian Dan.

"Sister, come up quickly!"

The little cub, who had just been separated from his family, was afraid that Jian Dan would abandon him again.

This trip was quite eventful; the fire was still burning when we left the county town.

If they weren't afraid of causing trouble, they would all be back to tell their stories.

"From now on, let's go out less."

Several people agreed with this statement. They had inquired about it in the county town and found that many similar incidents had occurred recently. This was not considered serious; in more serious cases, the perpetrators were tortured to the point of suicide on the spot.

"Tell the new educated youth to stay away from them if they run into anything."

Chen Jianguo sighed.

“When I get back, I’ll talk to Wang Zhiqing and let them communicate with each other themselves.”

The oxcart had made so many trips, carrying educated youth countless times, but this was the most silent one yet.

Upon arriving at their doorstep, Jian Dan jumped out of the car first, followed by Lin Dongfang and Chen Jianguo, who helped unload the groceries.

"Open the door, and I'll put this in the yard for you."

Without any hesitation, Jian Dan took the key, unlocked the door, and was greeted with a warm welcome from the four little ones.

Sheng Shi was startled and took two steps back before he realized what was happening.

"Oh, it's a puppy!"

The sound didn't sound scary; it was more of a pleasant surprise. Simplicity brings peace of mind.

"It's a puppy, do you like it?"

But looking at my little place, I can't help but sigh again. How am I supposed to live in just this one room?

The child is four years old now. Okay, the child is small, so he can sleep in a small space.

To be honest, her room is so small that there's not even enough space for her to sleep on the floor.

"I love it, sister, it's the same as my pendant."

"That's good. But you mustn't go to war."

A four-year-old child and a puppy a few months old, well, they're quite a good match.

After instructing Jixiang not to bite anyone, he simply went inside to tidy up.

Today's events were truly sudden, unexpected, and caught us completely off guard.

She had no mind to do anything else at the moment, so she simply lit the pot and boiled a pot of water to wash the child later.

I heated up the vegetables and dry food I had just bought in another pot, and after thinking for a moment, I steamed a small bowl of egg custard. I don't know what the child's appetite and taste are, but to put it another way, these days, it's good enough to have some wine to drink, so why be picky?

If she wasn't mistaken, the old man would have to tell Liu Weimin when he got back, and he might have to come over soon.

Sure enough, just as she put out the fire, several cries of Jixiang and Huzi came from outside.

"Good fortune, happiness, peace, joy, it's me, it's me! Aren't we friends? What are you shouting for?"

Shengshi was having a great time when he heard shouts, barking dogs, and knocking on the door. He jumped up like a startled bird and ran straight to Jiandan.

What if you simply sigh and then regret it even more?

"It's nothing, someone's here. Let's go open the door together."

Sheng Shi looked at her with her big, round eyes in surprise, then glanced at the door. Whether she believed it or not, Fan Ze would give her a handyman. She grabbed the hem of his clothes and followed him step by step to the door.

"Tiger, what brings you here? Have you eaten?"

“Sister Jian, my grandpa said that your family has a little brother, so my grandma found out the clothes that Xiaohua has outgrown.”

His grandmother meant that all of Tiger's clothes from when he was little were worn out.

The old man said that she was much smaller than Xiaohua. The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law were heartbroken and took over the shoes that Xiaohua had outgrown but couldn't bear to take apart to make shoes.

Simple and didn't ask many questions.

"Yes, this is my sister's little brother. We just picked him up. Can you come and play with him sometime?"

Tiger seemed quite interested in the new friend, nodding repeatedly.

"I'll come tomorrow, can I bring Xiaohua with me?"

"Of course you can, you can all be good friends."

He took the basin of laundry to go inside to fetch water, but then, looking at the basin, he remembered...

"By the way, Tiger, ask your dad to make me a bathtub."

Tiger is still looking at his new friend.

"Sister, is this for the little brother?"

"Yes, but it needs to be a little bigger, because little brothers grow up too."

Tiger waved his hand,

"Don't worry, sister. I told my dad to make the best of everything for our little brother."

"Xiao Shi, why don't you hurry up and thank Brother Hu Zi?"

Little Shengshi was happy to see his peers and readily agreed.

"Thank you, Brother Tiger."

The four-year-old child still had a baby voice, which was so cute that Tiger immediately grinned and showed his little white teeth.

"Sister, are you giving little brother a bath? Let me help him."

Jian Dan stared blankly for a moment as the basin was taken away.

Can you?

Tiger stood with his hands on his hips.

"Sister, don't underestimate me. My grandma said I'm a man, of course I can do anything."

My grandma said girls can't bathe boys. I'm a boy, so I bathe my younger brother, but you can't.

Simple, who was being questioned about her ability, was immediately stunned by these bold words. Looking at the tiny little thing that reached her thigh, she thought, "So small, and you still distinguish between boys and girls? Can't I give it a bath?"

However, seeing that Hu Zi was full of energy, she didn't have the heart to discourage him, so she took the basin from his hand and went into the kitchen.

The water in the pot was hot. By mixing hot and cold water, a basin of water was quickly prepared. It was placed under the kitchen stove, in front of which was the still-burning fire in the hearth. Once the door was closed, the cool air was kept out.

"Alright, come in and take a shower."

In no time at all, the two children, who had become like brothers, entered the house hand in hand.

Shengshi had already suffered quite a bit during his walk through the streets, and his clothes were filthy beyond recognition. Jian Dan didn't even let him onto the kang (heated brick bed), and asked him questions while unbuttoning his clothes.

"Xiao Shi, how about I let Brother Hu help you take a bath later?"

Tiger was eager to try it out.

"Little brother, we are boys, we can't let girls bathe us."

Sheng Shi suddenly pulled his arm back and shook his head vigorously.

"No, no, boys aren't allowed to take baths."
