Chapter 528 Putting Someone to Death

Two seconds of silence.

Cheng Chao wasn't surprised, but Cheng Zhuo and Tang Sumei were shocked, their eyes widening. Cheng Zhuo was so angry he could barely contain himself.

"How dare you, child?"

Tang Sumei quickly got up and went to the door, pressing her ear against it, afraid that the person at the door would hear her and come in.

Jian Dan slipped in through the small window and landed lightly on the ground. His gaze swept over the group of people before settling on Cheng Zhuo's blood-stained clothes.

"Are you injured?"

Cheng Zhuo looked at her with satisfaction.

"It's nothing serious, just minor injuries. You guys are too reckless, coming all this way. Don't worry, your second uncle knows what he's doing."

There's been some unrest here lately, but most things are fine. Don't worry, I've arranged everything."

Jian Dan paused, her hand holding the item still, and glanced at Cheng Chao.

"Uh, you deliberately had someone frame you as a spy? I thought someone was trying to sabotage me. I'll send it back later, otherwise..."

"What?"

"spy?"

"Bang bang bang!" The knocking came from outside the door first. The room was soundproof, but the sound was a bit loud. There seemed to be some noise outside the door, like someone talking about spies?

The guard quickly came over to inquire.

"Commander Cheng, is there anything I can help you with?"

Cheng Zhuo snapped out of his daze and raised his voice.

"It's alright, you guys go ahead with your work, I'm teaching the kids!"

The guards exchanged a glance, then returned to their posts with a sense of relief, still discussing among themselves, "No wonder he's Commander Cheng; even in this situation, he still has the composure to teach children how to identify spies."

Hearing the footsteps leave, Cheng Zhuo lowered his voice.

"What the hell? Framing me? What kind of spy is this?"

He didn't include this in his arrangements.

Besides, can a spy just make things up?

That's treason!

"Tell me quickly, who the hell dares to say I'm a spy?"

When Lao Tzu was on the battlefield, they didn't even know where they were.

Clearly, this topic touched a raw nerve for a hot-blooded man like Cheng Zhuo, his bottom line. He got increasingly agitated as he spoke, his voice rising involuntarily, almost as if he were about to slam his fist on the table.

"Who said that? Who is slandering me?"

There was another urgent knocking at the door.

"Commander Cheng, are you alright?"

Hearing that they were about to break down the door, Cheng Chao took a few steps forward, braced his foot against the door, and looked back at Cheng Zhuo.

Cheng Zhuo's anger surged, and he was momentarily overcome with rage. However, having secured his position, he wasn't one to act impulsively. After catching his breath and calming himself, he spoke.

"It's alright, go on with your work, you don't need to come over unless I call you."

"Um, are you alright? If you're not feeling well, we'll let you know and arrange for a doctor to be called."

Cheng Zhuo smirked.

"No need. Stay away and don't let anyone in."

After all, he was only suffering temporarily and had not stepped down. The temporary treatment was just imprisonment, and the people outside did not dare to ask any more questions, silently moving a few meters away.

As the footsteps faded into the distance, everyone looked at Jian Dan and the bundle in her hand. Without hesitation, Jian Dan put the bundle on the ground and opened it herself.

"This is what five people secretly did when they went into your room to search. The last two of them hid here."

After saying that, they looked at Cheng Zhuo's reaction. Not only Cheng Zhuo, but also Cheng Chao and Tang Sumei behind him, all narrowed their eyes.

"What... what is this?"

As soon as she made a sound, Tang Sumei immediately covered her mouth tightly with her hand. Her eyes were filled with helplessness, confusion, anger, and grievance, a mixture of various emotions. She sighed simply and leaned closer.

No matter who it is, after working hard for more than ten years, they are slandered like this in the end. Who wouldn't feel heartbroken?

Cheng Zhuo stared intently for a long time, then let out a cold laugh.

"They really went to great lengths for me, a roughneck like me!"

Right there on the ground was a small radio.

At this time, besides the military region and the post office, who else could access this thing?

Even within the military region, individuals are not authorized to use such things at will; the purpose of this frame-up is self-evident.

"They really are going to great lengths to kill me!"

Cheng Zhuo said to himself with a self-deprecating smile that he had been too optimistic about people. He always felt that after so many years of friendship, such a falling out was impossible.

As it turned out, this was a blatant slap in the face.

"Second Uncle, have you thought it through? What do you need to do?"

“Xiao Chao, your grandfather is right,”

Cheng Chao, ?

What's the meaning?

"Your grandfather always said that I'm a rough man at heart, and that your uncle has the best eye for people and things. And he's right."

The two children also gathered around Tang Sumei, their eyes revealing tension and restraint, something even her usually carefree personality could sense.

"Kids shouldn't think about such things. There are adults here, aren't there?"

Don't worry, even if the sky falls, there are always big guys to hold it up.

Cheng An pursed his lips.

"Sis, will everything be alright?"

He opened his mouth briefly, then looked up at Cheng Zhuo. Whether or not something was wrong, it would depend on how Cheng Zhuo decided to make the final decision.

Cheng Zhuo, feeling the intense gaze from Cheng Chao, couldn't help but let out a slight smile.

"Alright, alright. I still have a brain, I can think, and I know basic flexibility. I'm not so stupid as to confront them head-on when I know they have ill intentions."

"Hey, you mean they'll start searching and ransacking the house when it gets light?"

Cheng Chao nodded and asked simply,

"Second Uncle and Second Aunt, is there anything in the house that you need to hide, or that you don't want them to mess with?"

"Sis, my cookies, my tin frog!"

Cheng An pursed her lips.

"Sis, if it's not too much trouble, could you please get my comic book out for me?"

"I'd rather give it to someone else, but I don't want them to burn it."

He simply reached out and touched his head.

"Don't worry, I've hidden them all for you. I'll give them to you later."

Tang Sumei thought for a moment, then asked a question first.

"Are there any other people among you? Could they cause you trouble?"

Cheng Zhuo asked Cheng Chao the same question, and whispered his explanation.

"You know most of my things. I originally planned to distribute them to you kids when you grew up, but now it seems there might not be a chance."

At times like this, Cheng Zhuo isn't one to be wishy-washy.

"Let me tell you, the thing is right here... If you can take it away, then take it away. Otherwise, it's just letting them get away with it. They might even use it as evidence against me."

Also, go find Old Chen later and tell him... he'll help you. Now that I have evidence that someone framed me, I'll leave this world honorably, and even if I don't die, I'll make them pay dearly."

Cheng Chao slowly breathed a sigh of relief. That was also what he meant. The Cheng family would never suffer any injustice, let alone something that was made out of nothing.

"Okay, so what should we do with this?"
