"Have any houses in the village been crushed?"
They were all from the countryside, and Uncle Wu knew what kind of trouble could happen with such heavy snow. Old Zheng nodded.
"Of course!"
This is my first time visiting the village. It's not a big village, but a good portion of the houses have collapsed, and I heard that quite a few people were injured.
"Thanks to the garrison troops who went to the rescue first and cleared the snow off the road, otherwise we really wouldn't have dared to go,"
"Oh, really? Troops stationed here? Are you saying you have comrades stationed here?"
"Yes, of course it is! This vegetable greenhouse was set up by this comrade-in-arms. He knew that we eat light meals in winter and that the brothers do physical labor every day. He couldn't bear to see us like this."
"Hey, Uncle Wu, is someone coming?"
The one-armed old man beside him had already stood up steadily and walked towards the door. Old Zheng peeked out the window, then got up and chased after him.
"Fifth Uncle, wait a minute, wait a minute, someone looking for me, someone looking for me!"
If he could, he would have liked to just shout, "The meat is here!"
"My dear niece, you're here! Are you freezing?"
Come in quickly, come in quickly!
I'm speechless. How urgent could this be? They're just blocking my way here.
"Uncle, you haven't gone home? I thought I'd have to ask for your address."
"Don't even mention that. You have no idea how anxious I am about this. I wish I could follow you every step of the way. Why would I go home at a time like this? If I had known it was you, my aunt would have come here to wait with me."
This is quite flattering.
"No need for that. Well, Uncle, it's getting late. Let me get to the important matter first."
Today I went to Cun, and they were just about to ship their goods when the road opened, but I managed to snatch them up.
This is a large quantity; I see most of it is food, so I'll take it all. There's a lot of different kinds though. See how much you can keep; I'll find a car to deliver the rest to my uncle's place.
Old Zheng swallowed his words after saying "I'll take them all." If she had given him any other reason, he wouldn't have let go. But since she said she wanted Cheng Jin, he couldn't object; he had to support her.
"Okay, niece, you are this one."
From Lao Cheng's perspective, we're not strangers, so why bother finding a car? Uncle will go pick up my share first, and then I have a car and people readily available; I'll go with you to deliver it.”
