Since we can't start construction, we can only improve our living environment in other ways.
In the days that followed, Jian focused on recuperating, while the two men were extremely busy. Jian didn't ask about the specifics.
However, after they returned exhausted once again, she quietly released quite a few things.
It was in person.
Even though the two men thought they understood her supernatural abilities and didn't consider themselves cowards, they still tensed up the moment they saw her conjure up a bunch of things out of thin air right in front of them.
Cheng Chao clenched his fists, and Qin Qinghuai rushed over and checked the man over and over several times before he could finally relax. Only then did the two of them have the mind to rummage through the pile of things on the ground.
There were many simple items, but the base's previous inventory was all neatly categorized and arranged. They were all warm clothing and equipment, including the thermal underwear that had been given to Qin Qinghuai before; he recognized it immediately.
"This is really warm. You can wear this underneath, then a cotton-padded jacket and trousers, and then a military overcoat on top."
"That's great! I guess I won't be afraid of the cold even if I'm on night duty."
The two looked at the pile of things with excitement in their eyes. They simply looked at it quietly, and a warm feeling flowed through their hearts.
Actually, they are quite easily satisfied; at least she has the means to be.
I don't know if she was really frostbitten or just really sick, but this illness actually made her see things more clearly. All the worries she had before disappeared, and her mind became incredibly clear. She had transmigrated to this era, and she wasn't immortal. She would only live for a few more decades, so why think about it?
Fortunately, the two men she met were quite reliable. No matter how bizarre her actions were, they noticed but didn't ask any questions or demand anything of her. Instead, they tried their best to find excuses for her and clean up the mess, so that she didn't have to worry about these things.
However, she really couldn't bear to see them suffer, so why should she be timid and hesitant?
Once I figured it out, I felt a connection between my mind and heart, and my whole being felt clear and open. Although I was still a bit sickly, my energy was noticeably better.
"Brother, you should find one and try it out too."
Cheng Chao didn't hold back, but he still offered some sarcastic remarks.
"Hmph, she just got married and her heart is already completely elsewhere. I, her brother, have no standing at all."
Jian looked at Cheng Chao with a slightly ingratiating expression.
"You can't blame me for not giving it to you sooner. Winters weren't so cold a few years ago, so I didn't think of this."
My throat is still a little sore, and my voice is low.
"Hehe, it's not too late now! Don't worry, brother, I have plenty of good stuff. I guarantee I'll hand you over to my future sister-in-law in good health."
"Ha ha!"
Qin Qinghuai couldn't help but burst out laughing.
"Wife, you're so understanding. Don't worry, I definitely won't be jealous about this. I'll fully support you and make sure Brother Chao has no worries."
"roll!"
Cheng Chao's mind was entirely on the clothes in front of him, and he had no interest in arguing with him. After seeing what was underneath, he pulled out two pieces to cover himself up. Afraid that trying them on indoors wouldn't be accurate, he put on a padded jacket and trousers, but didn't even wear a padded overcoat. He even went out for a run, and couldn't be stopped even by a simple call.
"Huh? It can't be that bad, it really can't be that bad, you still don't believe me?"
Qin Qinghuai glanced out the window at Cheng Chao, who had already pushed open the door and left, and sighed.
"It's not that he doesn't believe you, it's that he can't believe it. This is such an important matter that he won't be able to settle down until he experiences it for himself."
Okay, she pursed her lips, deciding to ignore it for now; she couldn't fathom what this man was thinking.
"With these things, will you be busy again?"
The man put his things down, turned around, sat on the edge of the kang (a heated brick bed), touched her forehead, and then touched his own forehead.
"Don't worry, there are so many people below us, we don't need to do everything ourselves."
Look how excited Chao is, why don't we just let him go? I'm fine.
"Is this enough?"
"Don't worry, we'll discuss it when Brother Chao comes back later. We'll definitely let you know if we need anything. Go to sleep if you're tired."
The man's large, soothing hands gently massaged my back. His hands were warm, the pressure just right, and it felt very comfortable. Having already taken the medication, a simple drowsiness quickly washed over me; my eyelids were practically drooping in the blink of an eye.
The man pulled a pillow and placed it under his head, then grabbed a blanket from the side to cover him up before going to the kitchen to get some firewood, otherwise the kang (heated brick bed) would get cold soon.
Cheng Chao went out for a run, and fearing he might not be accurate, he even went into the mountains and found a well-ventilated place to stand for a long time. He didn't feel the slightest bit cold; his whole body was enveloped in warmth, yet he didn't feel bulky at all, and it didn't hinder his movements.
Cheng Chao was incredibly excited, feeling like he had inexhaustible energy. He couldn't wait to deliver the goods so his brothers wouldn't have to suffer anymore.
When he returned excitedly, the house was quiet. Qin Qinghuai had already quietly moved all his belongings to the west room.
"Sleeping again?"
Rural people aren't so delicate; this little illness isn't even considered a serious illness.
However, there were only the three of them here. Qin Qinghuai had already taken care of almost all the housework, and Cheng Chao, as the eldest brother, naturally agreed with this situation wholeheartedly.
Besides, it's rare for someone as simple as this to be weak and lacking in energy.
Despite the cold weather, they didn't hesitate much, and the equipment was urgently delivered to Cheng Zhuo that very night, allowing the young soldiers to have their first warm night.
