Chapter 690 Can you even bring yourself to say that?

Qin Qinghuai gave Fang He a cold look.

"Of course not. From the moment we registered, every step was done through legitimate channels."

A simple, puzzled scratch.

"So, when we get married, did Mom ask my older brothers to pay for it?"

"Of course not. The money I used to clean the house and buy things was all the money I've saved over the years."

However, your parents are giving this to you, their daughter-in-law.

Qin Qinghuai raised an eyebrow.

"Who has the nerve to complain?"

"Oh, so you've been transferred to such a remote place, why does it seem like your sister-in-law is saying that your parents are biased towards you?"

"Someone's just jealous!"

Fang He pursed her lips, desperately trying not to smile. Her eyes were red with anger, but she couldn't respond to his words, otherwise she would truly be seen as jealous of her brother-in-law's possessions. Feeling incredibly aggrieved, she turned to look at Qin Qingjiang, only to meet his cold, indifferent gaze.

She was extremely anxious for him, but he remained completely unmoved. Fang He's temper flared up again, and this time she directed it directly at Jian Dan.

"You don't need to gloat here. You've gotten all the benefits, of course you're happy."

If it weren't for the elderly subsidy, would the third child's allowance have been enough to allow you to both repair the house and get married?

Look at the clothes you're wearing and the shoes you're on. Every single one of them costs money and ration coupons. Which one of them could you afford? If you hadn't married the third son, you wouldn't have had the chance to live such a carefree life. You would never have seen so many good things in your entire life.

You've already gotten all the benefits, so don't make these sarcastic remarks.

"Alright, shut up. Aren't you ashamed?"

The old lady was so angry she slammed her hand on the table.

“If you have something to say, say it. Don’t just spout nonsense when you know nothing. The kids are right here. Have some self-respect.”

Jian Dan opened and closed her mouth, waiting until she had really finished speaking before asking a question.

"I understand, you mean I'm not good enough for Qinghuai."

Qinghuai is very outstanding, but sister-in-law, do you even know me? How do you know I can't afford anything?

Jian Dan could tell that Fang He was currently emotionally agitated and somewhat prone to indiscriminate attacks, but she wasn't angry.

"Sister-in-law, just say what you need to say, don't say these useless things."

We're sisters-in-law. I might be leaving again tomorrow or the day after, and we might not have the chance to meet again for several years or even more than ten years. We'll live our own lives. Whether our relationship is good or not, to put it bluntly, she's not living with me, so I don't really care.

But the older brothers are blood brothers. If someone really takes what you said to heart, do you want them to fall out because of these words and not even be able to be brothers anymore?

And what about Mom and Dad? Are you going to let them watch their three sons become like strangers?

This is my first time entering this home, but I've communicated with my parents through letters, phone calls, and spending so much time with them today. They are both easygoing people and not the kind of biased people you described. I believe that if you have anything to say, you can talk to them openly and honestly. They are not stubborn and won't accept any advice.

Besides, even if you don't want to think about the adults, you should at least think about the children, right?

When your child asks you about it, how will you explain to them that you single-handedly broke up the decades-long friendship between the three brothers, so the younger generation can no longer play together properly?

Can you even bring yourself to say that?

This was Fang He's biggest worry, her Achilles' heel. Looking at her three sons' timid eyes, the courage she had finally mustered vanished.

Immediately, her eyes reddened.

For a moment, the living room fell silent again, and then only Fang He's soft sobs could be heard.

Qin Qingze and Sun Jianhong stared at each other speechlessly. Here we go again.

Jian Dan didn't expect to persuade her with just a few words; otherwise, the old lady wouldn't be so conflicted. Seeing that they probably wouldn't be able to discuss anything much in a short time, Jian Dan's eyes darted around, and she decisively pulled Qin Qinghuai to his feet.

"Will you take me out for a walk?"

"go out?"

Qin Qinghuai subconsciously glanced out the window.

"It's getting dark, how about we do it during the day tomorrow?"

Turning my head, I saw Jian Dan giving me a meaningful look.

"Ah...ah, okay, I almost forgot if you hadn't mentioned it,"

He stood up and said to the old lady,

"Mom and Dad, I'm taking my wife next door to take a look. You two discuss it first, we'll be back in a bit."

"Go there now?"

The old lady glanced outside, then looked back and swept her gaze across the living room.

"Okay, go take a look. There's a flashlight under the table. Take it. The logistics staff will come to inspect it every year, but since no one lives here, you should be careful."

The others had no idea what they were talking about and just watched as the young couple walked out the door hand in hand.

"Grandma, have Third Uncle and Third Aunt gone out?"

"Yes, Mom, what are they doing next door? The third son doesn't have any connection with the neighbors."

The old lady glanced at the dazed Fang He, then at her eldest son with a somber face and her second son with a curious expression, and sighed.

"Not the west courtyard, it's the east courtyard,"

"The East Courtyard? Isn't that the Cheng family's residence? What are they doing at the Cheng family's residence?"

"snort!"

The old man slammed his fist on the table in a huff.

Are you all idiots?

Knowing no one was home, would a stranger just brazenly come to their door like that?

Qin Qingze, though quick-witted, was also a little stunned at this moment.

"They're not outsiders, but none of the women in the Cheng family are this old, are they?"

"Mom, Uncle Cheng has been gone for so many years, how could the child be this big?"

Fang He felt a chill run down her spine, and her fingers unconsciously clenched. Jian Dan was just the descendant of a capitalist, so why was he involved with the Cheng family next door?
