Oh, one big and one small.
"Alright, you go back first, we'll be there in a bit."
After saying that, he turned around and squeezed back into the crowd, where he and Cheng Chao protected the three elderly people on either side. Together with Qin Qinghuai and the other two behind them, they managed to carve out a bloody path.
Simple was still muttering to herself,
"Weren't they saying there wouldn't be many people going out? Why is it so crowded?"
"I just looked. The first few carriages and the last three carriages are full of educated youth going to the countryside, so there are a lot of people on this train. Many have already gotten off along the way, and now only a few are left."
For a fleeting moment, she was lost in thought. She had once been part of the team sent to the countryside, and before she knew it, several years had passed.
"Is it time to go to the countryside again? Time flies!"
“Going to the countryside to support rural development is such an honorable thing. It’s a record in your file, and your whole family will be proud.”
He glanced back at him briefly.
"With such sarcastic remarks, anyone who didn't know better would think you'd suffered some great injustice."
Cheng Jin came here specifically today, after all, he was invited back in the name of the military region. Although he is temporarily being used in a remote corner on the border, this is a serious matter, and someone in charge should show up to show that it is important.
However, upon seeing the person, he was clearly both surprised and delighted.
"Teacher Wei? It's you!"
Cheng Chao paused, wondering what this meant—was it another acquaintance?
"Uncle, do you know Professor Wei?"
Cheng Jin's face was flushed an unnatural red, and like a young boy, he pushed Cheng Chao aside and helped Professor Wei into the jeep.
"Teacher, why did they have to go through all this trouble for you?"
Cheng Chao was taken aback for a moment, then seemed to remember something, his face full of helplessness.
"elder brother,"
The simple dog crept closer.
"Brother, who is this? Uncle's expression is so strange, why is he acting like he's seen someone?"
She scratched her head.
"It's like you've met your father-in-law!"
She had no basis for it; she just had this feeling for no reason.
A muffled laugh came from behind, and Cheng Chao turned around and kicked out.
"You know what,"
Cheng Chao's voice was low.
“I just met him myself. Professor Wei was one of my uncle’s former teachers, and he also has a daughter who was his classmate.”
He immediately followed up with more questions.
"The childhood sweetheart type?"
"Cough cough cough! You're just a kid, don't talk nonsense!"
Cheng Chao choked on his own saliva. How could he say something so bluntly? He glanced at Cheng Jin's back and sighed inwardly, wondering if bringing this man back was a good thing or a bad thing for his uncle.
"Don't bring up this topic in front of your uncle!"
He nodded simply and firmly.
"I understand, they care about saving face!"
Cheng Chao wanted to say it wasn't a matter of saving face, but he wasn't entirely clear on the specifics and didn't dare say anything rashly. He simply reminded Jian Dan again.
"Remember this: Professor Wei is alright, but his daughter, absolutely, absolutely do not mention her. Based on my understanding of my uncle over the years, she's probably a ticking time bomb."
Simple and eager to try,
"Could it be... my future aunt?"
Aunt?
Cheng Chao imagined it for a moment,
"There should be, maybe, possibly, there is hope?"
However, you are not allowed to get involved, understand?
Their situation is probably not that simple.
This made Jian Dan even more curious. While Cheng Jin was talking to Professor Wei, she would occasionally look up at Cheng Jin, as if trying to see something on his face.
Moreover, that eager gaze was something even an ordinary person, let alone Cheng Jin who was a veteran, could sense. Cheng Chao had given her several meaningful glances, but Jian Dan hadn't noticed.
Helpless, he could only turn his gaze to Qin Qinghuai. "Try to control him. You should at least be more discreet. Just take a quick glance. What are you trying to do by being so blatant?"
Qin Qinghuai suppressed a wild smile, his hand twitching slightly. Jian Dan snapped back to reality, instinctively reaching into her pocket to hide her unease, then leaned close to Qin Qinghuai's ear...
"What's wrong?"
Qin Qinghuai looked up and met Cheng Jin's gaze. He first looked away casually before whispering,
"Uncle found out!"
"ah!"
She instinctively looked up, and coincidentally, her eyes met Cheng Jin's half-smiling gaze. She quickly forced a fawning smile, then pulled Qin Qinghuai aside.
"You guys catch up first, we'll take a walk around the neighborhood."
The temperature was just right. Hearing that they had just eaten, Cheng Jin wanted to take Professor Wei back to the camp, but several people refused. Helpless, the group sat by the roadside and talked. Cheng Chao, Qin Yi, Zheng Aiguo, and Cheng Jin's bodyguards quietly surrounded the group.
The educated youth office was not far away. As Jian Dan and his companion strolled over, they saw the group of people who had just gotten off the bus carrying their luggage surrounding several cadres, making a noisy commotion. The cadres were shouting until their faces were red and their necks were bulging.
"Take your luggage and wait to the side, your people are here to pick you up."
"The village we're assigned to is predetermined, and we can't change it,"
"If you keep making trouble, we'll take it back!"
The educated youth were still afraid of this. After registering, their procedures and files were transferred to the place where they were sent to the countryside. If they were returned, it would be a black mark on their files, which would affect their ability to return to the city or find a job in the future.
Moreover, this is completely different from returning to the city. Returning to the city can be done through the college entrance examination, work, or marriage. No matter which one, the personnel file will be clean and clear.
