What I just said was a sudden thought. Our children need to study and strive for improvement, so if other children had the same opportunity, would they be even more outstanding than they are now?
My brother told me that many soldiers were illiterate. It's like the mentality of many rural parents: it's good to be literate so that they won't be cheated when they go out.
We are building and developing here. We can accomplish anything, whether it's hardware or software, as long as we have the money and the resources. But like this time, we need experts in farming and animal husbandry. Why is our first reaction not to go to the village to find an old farmer, but to go to them?
We understand this principle ourselves. It's not that old farmers don't know anything, but the more trustworthy person may not be the old farmers themselves, but someone with professional knowledge. Such a person can guide us to do this more professionally and pass on this skill.
Am I right?
Pointing to the next generation is like planting a tree; the process of it growing is just too long.
These soldiers are different. They only lack knowledge reserves; they possess professional skills and rich life experience. If they could experience the value of knowledge and personally understand this gap, wouldn't they be willing to improve?
Leaning back in her chair, she thought of Sun Daniu and Sun Erniu, those two poor children.
"After that incident, my uncle said he would arrange for someone to investigate this matter,"
"right,"
Qin Qinghuai stared blankly at the road ahead.
"Later, after this area was targeted, the investigation turned to covert operations, which slowed things down,"
"Whether it's building houses, farming, raising pigs, raising chickens, or vegetable greenhouses, people are needed everywhere, aren't they?"
"What difference does it make who we use? We know them inside and out; they were all trained by the country and the military. It's like keeping the benefits within the family."
Qin Qinghuai had already turned around and was listening intently. Upon hearing this, he exchanged a glance with the old lady and then understood the simple meaning.
"How come I didn't think of that?"
The old lady hesitated for a moment.
"But how many of those who leave their homes are truly willing to do so?"
With a simple shrug,
"To put it bluntly, this is just a job. The right to choose is up to the individual. Some people go home to reunite with their families and have a happy time, while others are the opposite. After serving in the military for so many years, they have to swallow their anger or go hungry when they go home. They might as well come here. At least the atmosphere and environment here are things they are already used to."
There's so much open space here, it's not like we're short a little bit of space. We can just build a few rows of courtyards on a plot of land, and if anyone wants to come, the whole family can come together. It's perfect, and it can even contribute to the population growth of our area.
No matter how you look at it, this is a good thing.
Qin Qinghuai stared at her intently, a smile flashing in his eyes. He had already considered the possibilities and difficulties of this matter. The old lady had also forgotten her own troubles and was no longer dejected. She was leaning against the back of the passenger seat, chatting with her son about what they wanted to do. Seeing her smile, Qin Qinghuai felt much more at ease.
"Mom, are you planning to make one last contribution to the revolution?"
The old lady hummed softly.
"What, who do you look down on?"
"No, I wouldn't dare. With you and the old man here keeping watch, I reckon we'll have far fewer problems."
The old lady was somewhat tempted, yet still hesitant, so Qin Qinghuai didn't press her too hard.
"Anyway, there's no rush. We'll have to study this carefully when we get back. This isn't something that can be resolved in a day or two. But I'm not just saying this for show. The highest-ranking person there is the regimental commander. If you go there and don't want to take charge, just be a mascot to keep things in check. Consider it helping us out."
The old lady was so angry she laughed.
"Go away, what nonsense! Who uses two old men and women as mascots?"
But San'er, I think what Shan Shan said is really good. You guys should look into it. Shan Shan is right. What difference does it make who we use?
The family compound is mostly occupied by women, so when there's heavy lifting, we still need men. The soldiers are already quite tired; you can do it once or twice, but you can't really treat them like they're doing unpaid labor every day, can you?"
“I know. It just so happens that Brother Chao is coming back today. I’ll ask him about the situation of his investigation and we can get a unified story. I reckon they won’t object.”
Over the years, Brother Chao and Uncle have secretly helped their comrades a lot.
The situation is similar with Commander Lin; if it can fundamentally solve the problem, they would definitely be happy to accept it.
Jian Dan stopped getting involved. All she could do was offer suggestions, since it would be more convenient for her to do whatever she wanted if the area developed well.
The journey, which was originally dull and boring, turned into a pleasant surprise when the old lady arrived at the family compound. She was still quite eager to continue, her face full of anticipation, which left the old man who got out of the car looking on in astonishment.
The neighboring yard had already been cleaned up. Qin Qinghuai got out of the car at the entrance of the family compound and led the car behind to the barracks. Qin Yi and two guards carried things into the house, while several children looked around curiously.
The old lady also looked around.
"This is really nice, spacious and quiet."
Simply open up your own yard and bring in the things you bought for your family.
"Mom and Dad, take a look first, and get some exercise."
This is your yard. We've provided everything you can think of, but there might be some things we haven't thought of. Please see if there's anything else you need and take it from here.
Qinghuai and I live here, separated only by a wall. If it weren't public property, Qinghuai would have torn the wall down.
