The young boy's eyes immediately lit up with a joyful smile.
"Little Grey! Sister, it's Little Grey! It's Little Grey!"
Little Grey tilted its head and looked over. Several figures behind it had already rushed over, and Jian Dan and Cheng An were instantly surrounded.
"May you have good fortune, peace, and joy! What brings you all here?"
After petting it for a while, Jian Dan walked over to the gray wolf, which was as tall as a person, and stroked its smooth fur.
"Little Grey, do you remember that child? He even gave you meat to eat, do you remember? Was he with you?"
I don't know if she understood or not, but she tilted her head and glanced at Cheng An several times.
"Awoo!"
Releasing the human beneath its feet, it turned and walked in the direction it was heading, glancing back at Jian Dan with a questioning look in its eyes.
"Awoo?"
Jian Dan was anxious and wanted it to go find Cheng Rui, but the creature clearly didn't mean that. Normally she could understand the general idea, but now she didn't have the energy to guess. Cheng An, on the other hand, watched for a long time, trying to make a guess.
"Sis, does it want you to come with it? It looks like it's taking you somewhere, right?"
"What?"
Turning to look at the gray wolf again,
"Little Grey, are you asking me to come with you?"
"Awoo!"
The wolf head turned away arrogantly, but this time it didn't look back. Clearly, Cheng An had guessed correctly.
"sister?"
Simply calm your mind,
"I'll go with you and take a look. Battalion Commander Xu, please wait a moment while I go check on things. Don't worry, this is me, my friend, I'm fine."
Battalion Commander Xu and his men were stunned and hadn't reacted yet when Cheng An and Zheng Aiguo followed closely behind, followed by four large dogs that were almost as tall as the two men.
Even Battalion Commander Xu himself is no longer one of them.
A wolf in front, four dogs behind, surrounding the three people in the middle.
"Commander, is this what the instructor meant by 'surrounded by followers'?"
Battalion Commander Xu, “…”
"Your eyesight is pretty good!"
After following Little Grey for a while, probably only two or three miles, we saw it turn into a ravine.
Not understanding why, but still trusting these friends, Jian Dan winked at two of them and followed them inside.
Then, all three of them were dumbfounded.
This valley clearly shows signs of human habitation; the firewood at the base of the wall and the buckets under the window all prove that someone lived here. The clothes on the clothesline are quite secure.
The group exchanged glances, none of them daring to make a loud sound.
Something terrible had clearly happened. The three men in the yard were lying there covered in blood, and it was obvious they were already dead.
Ahead was a dug-out cave, with several planks laid outside. I didn't hear any other sounds, but I could clearly sense that there was still a lot of life, though it wasn't very good.
The smell of blood was also very strong.
Looking around, there's only this one mountain valley nearby, and it's not very big. It's not suitable for communal living, and it doesn't seem quite like a laboratory either.
After what seemed like an eternity, Zheng Aiguo finally spoke, his voice hoarse.
"This...could this be the place we're looking for?"
Seeing that they had stopped, the gray wolf turned its head and howled again.
"Awoo?"
She was startled, and she could clearly feel that the auras from before also trembled. Were they frightened by the wolf's howl?
Thinking to herself, she followed along, bypassing the dilapidated cave entrance. After turning around, about fifty or a hundred meters away, the weeds on the ground were trampled flat against the earth. The gray wolf stopped and gestured for her to move the large rock in front of her.
It was obvious that this was another cave, blocked by a large rock. Actually, there was a small gap on the side, enough for one person to squeeze through. However, Jian Dan didn't understand what Xiao Huihui meant, so she went forward to take a look anyway.
"Sis, do you need me to move it? I'll do it."
"Awoo!"
He paused, gave a wry smile—was this a warning?
"Look, it won't let us pass. You all step back first, and I'll give it a try!"
Logically speaking, with her strength, this stone shouldn't be too difficult to move, but it didn't budge at all. Unconvinced, she sent two people out to be on guard, and tried to put it into her spatial storage, but it didn't move at all either. What was going on?
After searching and knocking for a long time, they finally found an inconspicuous little button in a corner crevice under the big rock. Looking at its claws, Jian Dan finally understood why she had to do it for them. It turned out that she had the will but not the claws.
It's a good thing she's not fat, otherwise she really wouldn't have been able to get it in.
After pressing down, she took two steps back. About half a minute later, she heard a "boom" sound. Little Grey and the four big ones stood up, shaking their fur, staring at her menacingly.
A moment later, with a rumbling sound, the big rock slowly began to move!
Those in front could hear him clearly; Cheng An kept shouting.
"Sis, are you alright?"
"It's alright, I'll call you if anything happens!"
The large rock slowly moved to the side, revealing the cave entrance that had been blocking it. It was pitch black, like a gaping maw ready to devour someone. Simple, lacking much curiosity, took a few steps back, making way for the entrance.
"Little Grey, I've opened it for you."
"Awoo!"
The wolf's tail smacked lightly on the ground, its massive head tilted to one side, its eyes seemingly filled with curiosity, and perhaps even disdain.
"Awoo?"
Being stared at like that, Jian Dan felt a chill run down her spine, and tentatively guessed...
"Are you letting me in?"
Okay, the big head turned around, and he even sat down with his legs bent?
Jian Dan felt surrounded by question marks, but relying on the fact that the previous collaborations had been relatively safe and reliable, she took a few more glances to make sure that it hadn't changed its mind. With a determined look, she gritted her teeth and actually walked towards the cave entrance.
As she got closer, she could feel the cool breeze inside. It was refreshing and pleasant. Surprisingly, there wasn't even that stuffy, rotten smell. This put her mind at ease a little.
She took out a flashlight from her spatial storage to bolster her courage and walked in step by step. Surprisingly, the place was very clean, with only a thin layer of dust, as if it was cleaned regularly. Since she was already inside, she didn't waste any time.
The entrance to the cave wasn't large, but it became more spacious as she went in. However, she didn't have a chance to go too deep because soon, after turning the bend ahead, she saw something.
She was also somewhat speechless, wondering when this tradition started, where wooden boxes were used to hide things.
There were neatly stacked piles of boxes inside. Yes, piles of boxes, packed tightly against the left side of the cave wall. I don't know which genius designed it, but they were all stacked against one side, leaving a narrow path on the other side, which looked like it was specially left for people to walk on and for ventilation.
She was a little itchy to try it, not because she was greedy for the stuff, but mainly because she had gotten quite used to collecting things in the mountains over the past few years. However, she was also a little hesitant. What did Little Grey mean by this?
