"Sister Jane, Sister Jane,"
Jian Dan has never liked Hu Zi as much as she does now. This kid is amazing; he saved her from dire straits.
She was also thinking that she couldn't just leave him at home, but she also couldn't bring him back to the base, in case he woke up.
"Tiger, what brings you here?"
Tiger, accompanied by a few henchmen, carrying small whips, and Little Ice Monkey, excitedly invited her.
"Sister Jane, let's try our Ice Monkey!"
This is their favorite toy, although it's better suited for playing on ice, but it's just as good on snow if there's no ice.
Even so, there are only a handful like this in the whole village. Tiger's success is due to his father Liu Guangming's excellent and professional cooking skills. What other children have such convenient conditions? Besides, they don't even have enough to eat. Not every family can spoil their children like this.
Her younger brothers all looked at her warmly, and Jian Dan was momentarily overwhelmed with gratitude.
However, shaking his head, he decided to put the important matter first.
"Tiger, can you do me a favor?"
The young man was enthusiastic.
"Sister, just tell me, what do you want me to do?"
They have the ambition to sacrifice their lives for the cause.
"Go and call the village chief for your sister. Tell him that your sister has something very important to discuss with him."
Tiger, having received the order, puffed out his little chest.
"Okay, sister, I promise to complete the mission."
He turned around and swung his arm.
"Charge, my men!"
Instantly, like a bird released from its cage, it took off running towards the village.
To be honest, if it weren't for that final turn of events, I would still think Jian Dan is a pretty reliable kid.
Looking at her little house, Jian Dan was a bit bewildered. She had originally planned to live alone, but who would have thought that she would have guests every now and then?
Before the village chief arrived, the person on the ground stirred. Opening their eyes, they surveyed their surroundings, then struggled to get up. Jian Dan, sitting on the kang (heated brick bed), heard the commotion but didn't stop them. They simply said...
"You still have a breath left. You can choose to let it go now or keep it for now."
Cheng Chao was taken aback. It was a girl's voice? Had she saved him?
However, he obediently lay back down on the floor, coughed a few times with his head turned to the side, and then spoke softly.
Did you save me?
“I just moved you here from the snow in case you freeze to death in my backyard.”
"Heh~~~"
The room got warm and cozy, making everyone feel sleepy. Not to mention Cheng Chao, who had just woken up and already had a slight fever. After saying a few words, his eyelids started to feel sticky.
That smile did make him look a bit more energetic.
"Comrade, did you see the thing that was with me?"
He got down from the ground and came over, raising his chin in a gesture of greeting.
"Look, isn't that one right next to you?"
She loves money, but she still has principles when it comes to other people's belongings that are already owned. Although she is curious, she still puts them down as they are.
Cheng Chao breathed a deep sigh of relief upon seeing the item. If it had been lost, all their efforts would have been for nothing.
"Comrade, could you please deliver a message for me?"
They seemed to have noticed that they preferred simplicity to complexity.
"Don't worry, I'm not a bad person, but I can't show my face for now. Could you help me find Commander Lin of the garrison?"
Just as Jian was about to say that no one has bad guys written on their foreheads, upon hearing the familiar place, he couldn't help but ask,
"Lin, Commander? Wait a minute, you can't send a young girl like me, can you? I'll find someone to deliver the message for you."
Then a sentence was added.
"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone. I don't want to die. If word gets out that I'm hiding a grown man, how am I supposed to live?"
Cheng Chao, that makes sense.
Just then, Liu Weimin arrived, beaming.
Poor village chief, he ran over as soon as he heard it was important.
This young educated youth has been acting strangely lately; nothing seems to be a small matter, keeping him on edge. Even though nothing is ever truly bad, one thing after another keeps happening.
"Little Jian, what happened?"
He simply walked into the courtyard without closing the gate, but made a sound inside, afraid of inconveniencing her.
Simply push open the door and welcome people in, and the kitchen is instantly full.
It was all snow outside, and visibility was limited when they first came in, so Liu Weimin couldn't see clearly either. He just kept asking questions.
"What happened?"
It sounded like Jian Dan was talking to someone else.
“This is the village chief. Talk to him and ask him to make arrangements for you.”
"Who will I assign to? And what will I assign them to?"
The kitchen was too cramped, so I simply grabbed a stool for Liu Weimin and went into the bedroom myself. It was only a couple of steps away, so it wouldn't delay our conversation.
Liu Weimin only noticed a figure on the ground after he had recovered.
"Hey, who's this?"
The main problem is that this person is incredibly filthy; he's even darker than his black egg.
Cheng Chao sat up with effort, leaning against the wall.
"Village chief, I am a soldier. I had an accident while on a mission. Could you please send a message to find Commander Lin of the garrison?"
He spoke haltingly, as if he were about to run out of breath, and then seemed completely exhausted. Liu Weimin glanced at the stove; there was a bowl of water there, clearly prepared for him. Without saying a word, he picked it up and handed it to him.
"Have some water, let me think. Commander Lin, eh?"
He slapped his forehead and looked at Jian Dan.
"Didn't Commander Lin go up the mountain?"
He was momentarily stunned.
Why are you looking at me? How should I know?
"Didn't you also pack some brown sugar ginger water for them?"
"What? I gave that Captain Lin... You mean, that Captain Lin is the Commander Lin he's looking for?"
She only saw Lin Zhengde a few times, and all she heard was others calling him Captain. Liu Weimin called him that too, so she didn't pay much attention.
Liu Weimin was very surprised.
"you do not know?"
"Should I know? I'm not even that close to him."
All told, we only hunted wild boars together twice and captured people for handover once, which could be considered business dealings.
"Someone you don't know well gave you something?"
"Isn't that a reward? I did something heroic!"
While Cheng Chao was taking a sip of water, he heard the two of them bickering back and forth, completely veerging from the topic. A slight smile crept onto his lips, and he coughed twice.
"Excuse me, could you please save my life?"
"Ah, right, Uncle, you need to find someone to deliver a message for him, and you also need to find him a place. You can't just let him stay here with me, can you? Look at my room? Besides, it's not convenient for a man and a woman to be alone together."
His eyes were sincere, but Liu Weimin didn't understand.
"No, isn't he supposed to be forbidden from showing his face?"
"But you can't stay here with me forever, can you?"
That's true.
"How about you send it to my house?"
"OK!"
"no!"
Two people who have different opinions.
"Why not? Are you trying to cling to me now?"
They didn't know each other, and there was no formality. It was indeed inconvenient for her to have so many people with her, especially since it was a grown man.
Cheng Chao was back to being on the verge of death, just like before.
"Comrade, in this state, I might die before I even leave the yard. Can you bear to do that?"
