Jian Dan quickly suppressed her laughter.
"What? Didn't I tell you everything? I didn't deliberately hide it from you."
"Ha! Is that so? You're willing to give all those good things to them, but not to me. We're also very tired, hungry, and exhausted, okay?"
"you,"
He looked at her with surprise, her expression turning aggrieved as she spoke, and didn't know what to say.
"Are you serious? You'd throw away your integrity for a little food?"
To be honest, once you get to know Qin Yinzhu, you'll find that while she's meticulous, serious, and rarely smiles at work, she's actually quite simple outside of work. Being around someone with this kind of personality is easy and comfortable.
"If this gets out, tell me, Doctor Qin, what will become of your image?"
"In this place, it's just you. What image do I need to maintain?"
Qin Yinzhu, puffing on her cotton-padded coat, used a piece of wood as a fire poker to pok around in the stove pit. Suddenly, a blackened, burnt egg-like object popped out.
"Huh? What's this? Did you burn something?"
A simple, exaggerated sigh.
"I might have some good stuff, but I can't keep it."
Qin Yinzhu curiously rummaged around a few more times and found a few more black eggs. She reached out to pick them up, but was immediately burned and flung them away.
"Holy crap, what are you burning? It's scalding me!"
It's so simple and speechless.
"Big sister, can we touch the things in this fire directly?"
Muttering under his breath, he still deftly pushed her aside, picked out a few black eggs, and let them cool.
"You stand aside and wait. Don't touch that. That hand of yours is a matter of life and death. It can't be damaged now."
Despite being blatantly rejected, Qin Yinzhu wasn't angry. She watched with a smile as Jian Dan, with a hissing sound, switched hands and cracked open a black egg, then placed something underneath it before handing it over.
"Here you go, Dr. Qin, have a taste."
The sweet potato had been in the pan for a while now; its soft, golden flesh was still steaming, and the sweet aroma wafted into her nose. Qin Yinzhu didn't stand on ceremony; she took it and took a big bite, her eyes narrowing with satisfaction.
"Hey, I have to say, you really know how to eat. This way of cooking tastes better than boiling it or putting it in porridge."
"That's because you're reluctant to part with it. If you were willing, there are plenty of ways to make it delicious."
Qin Yinzhu chuckled dryly. Who could know? This renowned Doctor Qin, while not invincible in medicine, is universally praised. But when it comes to cooking, he's only half right.
"Then forget it. Rather than making things difficult for myself, I might as well continue eating in the cafeteria."
Stealing a brief moment of respite from her busy schedule, Qin Yinzhu heard cries for help again outside. She tossed aside the sweet potato peels in her hand, casually clapped her hands, and transformed back into the professional and meticulous Doctor Qin, turning to walk outside.
"Save it for me, I'll eat it when I'm done with this."
After daybreak, the soldiers, who had been freezing all night, took turns coming over for breakfast, and then it was time for the next round of racing against time.
Qin Qinghuai was worried, so he temporarily handed over the work in the camp to a few of his superiors and went up the mountain with the supply team.
With the simple tools they had brought out, they saved a lot of effort, especially on the upper soil layer. After more than a night of digging, the site was now a scene of utter devastation.
However, the number of people rescued was less than half of the known number buried underground. This realization kept everyone on edge, and apart from eating, no one relaxed for a moment.
It's simple. After the two lightly wounded soldiers took over the task of boiling water, she couldn't stay idle, so she went to the scene. Although she wasn't a professional, she could still lend a hand, such as moving heavy objects.
When Qin Qinghuai arrived, what he saw was a wounded woman being carefully moved from the ground by several young soldiers, one hand supporting her on an iron pipe. The soldiers were probably afraid she would suddenly give up due to exhaustion, and they kept talking to her.
"Sister-in-law, hang in there, we'll hurry,"
"...I told you to leave it to me, so you can rest assured. I won't abandon you halfway through and cause trouble."
These young soldiers didn't recognize her at first glance, probably because they hadn't had much contact with her before. They probably only knew that she could hunt, and didn't know how strong she was. Hearing this, they didn't refute her, but they still increased the speed of their hands considerably.
He simply looked at the scene and didn't say anything. After all, saving time is a good thing when it comes to saving lives.
After the wounded man was rescued, several people carried him away. Jian Dan was about to let go when he suddenly paused, then, supporting the iron pipe with one hand, he almost lay down on the ground, pressing his ear to the ground to listen carefully.
"sister in law?"
This sudden turn of events startled the young soldiers. They looked at each other, wondering if the soldiers had exhausted themselves from holding the iron pipes for them.
The posture remained the same, except that he shook his other hand vigorously and shouted.
"Don't speak!"
The group shuddered in fright, and the wounded man, whose leg was still bleeding, was startled and immediately held his breath.
A few minutes later, someone asked a question.
"What's wrong? What happened?"
He simply straightened up, still in the same kneeling position, his face showing no sign of joking.
"Keep digging, there are people down there, at least six, all still alive."
"But that area isn't within the mine's boundaries,"
"Listen to her!"
dig!
Two voices rang out at the same time. The others were stunned for a moment. Soon, someone carried the wounded away, and someone else came to the area she designated and began to dig.
"How did you get here?"
Commander Lin was disheveled, looking much like the soldiers; his lips were cracked and dry, and he couldn't even manage a smile.
