Chapter 15

Chapter 15

She hugged her tightly.

Upon hearing this, Wei Jiangxue frowned slightly: "I have considered the consequences. In fact, I succeeded. I am, after all, a high-level Alpha. You can't look down on me just because I'm blind."

She heard Mi Rui'an take several deep breaths, probably trying to restrain the urge to reprimand her.

Wei Jiangxue truly didn't understand why Mi Ruian was angry. It was clearly Wei Jiangxue who risked her life and successfully saved the person; it had nothing to do with Mi Ruian.

But since she's the main character, everything the main character does is justified. So Wei Jiangxue twitched the corner of her mouth and didn't continue to argue with her.

“…I’m sorry, I just thought it was too dangerous.” Mi Rui’an regretted her words as soon as they came out, and after thinking it over, she apologized to Wei Jiangxue.

"It's alright." Wei Jiangxue didn't take it to heart; she forgot about the argument as if it were nothing.

The security team arrived a few minutes later than Mi Rui'an. Wei Jiangxue handed over the still emotionally unstable Omega and the Alpha who had lost the ability to resist to them.

He accomplished his task and left without a trace, concealing his merits and fame.

only……

Wei Jiangxue felt the warmth and restraint emanating from her hand. Just as she was leaving, Mi Rui'an had taken her hand without giving her a chance to resist. Wei Jiangxue always felt that the protagonist Mi Rui'an's emotions came about somewhat inexplicably.

After much thought, she came to a conclusion—

That is because Mi Rui'an had encountered a similar situation before, and the person who played the role of savior was very likely to have failed in the operation, so Mi Rui'an was stressed.

Wei Jiangxue had a sudden inspiration; she was truly a genius... In that case, Mi Rui'an's worries about her would be understandable.

I just wonder who did this to Mi Rui'an?

Wei Jiangxue sighed softly, her heart filled with pity for Mi Rui'an, and let Mi Rui'an take her hand.

"Since we're already here, let's grab a bite to eat after we've finished shopping at the clothing store," she said cheerfully after she had made up her mind.

Mi Rui'an responded softly, seemingly still bothered by what had just happened.

Seeing her companion looking sullen, Wei Jiangxue tried to coax her, "Hey, cheer up! I'm willing to treat you. After all, we're out having fun, so don't let little things ruin your mood."

“…Okay.” Mi Rui’an’s voice was slightly hoarse.

Wei Jiangxue raised her free hand and touched her face: "Then I'd like to see if you're smiling. You promised yourself that you would stay happy, so smile more."

"Stop fooling around..." Mi Rui'an was amused and dodged her clutches, but still did not let go of Wei Jiangxue.

System 233 silently watched the two of them, deciding to just give up.

Sigh, the way the two get along is really beyond the system's expectations, but now there's really no other way, let's just take it one step at a time.

*

Wei Jiangxue had gotten so used to eating convenience food alone in her rented apartment that she forgot for a moment that she was blind and that this caused her many inconveniences when eating out.

After ordering, she was dumbfounded. With Mi Rui'an in front of her, she definitely couldn't ask 233 to help her adjust her position and pick up the food. But Wei Jiangxue herself couldn't eat normally, so she was caught in a dilemma.

Should we ask Mi Rui'an for help now? Or stubbornly rely on ourselves?

Wei Jiangxue wasn't sure if Mi Rui'an would agree to the former; as for the latter, she felt the only consequence would be that she would make a mess of the table, making it difficult to eat and causing trouble for the waiters to clean it up.

Today is truly an inauspicious day... Wei Jiangxue never expected that simply coming out to do a side quest would lead to so many troubles.

The restaurant's soft lighting and soothing music failed to soothe Wei Jiangxue's furrowed brow.

She sat opposite Mi Rui'an, her fingers unconsciously tracing the edge of the table, appearing somewhat reserved. Although she tried to act as usual, the hesitation and bitterness she felt when faced with a table full of dishes betrayed the predicament Wei Jiangxue was facing.

Although the table was full of dishes, Wei Jiangxue was unable to pick them up.

Mi Rui'an put down her water glass, her gaze sweeping over the almost untouched plate in front of Wei Jiangxue and the chopsticks in her hand that seemed unsure of where to go. She instantly understood the source of the awkwardness.

"Not to your liking?" Mi Rui'an's voice was devoid of emotion.

Wei Jiangxue shook her head immediately, like a startled little animal: "No, it's delicious."

To prove it, she eagerly reached forward with her chopsticks, only to touch the cold edge of the porcelain plate, making a slight clinking sound.

The air seemed to freeze for a moment, and Wei Jiangxue's cheeks flushed red at a visible speed.

Oh no, I've embarrassed myself again—

While Mi Rui'an was enjoying her meal, she was putting on a show of eating air.

Her carefully maintained facade was gently shattered, and Wei Jiangxue immediately became helpless.

Her forced composure, yet barely concealing her embarrassment, sent a strange pang of unease through Mi Rui'an's heart.

Almost subconsciously, Mi Rui'an picked up the serving chopsticks, naturally picked up a piece of tender fish, and placed it in Wei Jiangxue's bowl.

"The fish here has good reviews, let's try it."

Wei Jiangxue froze, her long eyelashes trembling slightly, and she whispered, "...Thank you."

However, the problem was not completely solved. Wei Jiangxue needed more precise guidance to eat on her own, and her movements still showed visible difficulty.

Mi Rui'an watched silently as she tried several times. Each time the chopsticks missed or almost knocked over the water glass, the atmosphere around her became more tense.

Finally, just as the porridge she scooped up was about to spill on Wei Jiangxue, Mi Rui'an seemed to have exhausted all her patience and suddenly stood up.

Instead of leaving, she sat down directly in the booth seat next to Wei Jiangxue.

Before Wei Jiangxue could react, Mi Ruian had already taken the spoon from her hand with remarkable ease, scooped up a spoonful of warm millet porridge from the bowl, and brought it to her lips.

"I'll feed you, stop struggling."

Wei Jiangxue froze completely, her ears turning bright red. She could feel the rich rose fragrance that Mi Rui'an brought when he approached, now carrying a hint of dominance, forming a barrier that isolated her from the curious gazes that might fall upon her from those around her.

"I...I can..."

"Don't move." Mi Rui'an interrupted her, her voice lowered slightly, "You're not planning to knock over a table in front of the other guests, are you?"

These words were half a threat, and half... a kind of clumsy concern.

Wei Jiangxue pursed her lips, obediently lowered her head, and drank the spoonful of porridge from her hand.

Sigh, it was clearly Wei Jiangxue who invited Mi Rui'an to dinner, but it's acting like she invited a helper to feed her.

Wei Jiangxue drank the porridge guiltily. The warm porridge mixed with fried rice melted in her mouth, making her feel better and forgetting the embarrassment.

Mi Rui'an watched her obediently swallow her food, her once lifeless eyes now slightly lowered, making her appear exceptionally docile. A strange sense of satisfaction quietly crept into her heart. Her face remained expressionless, but her movements continued; she picked up another mouthful of rice, added some vegetables, and handed it to her again.

"Ah, open your mouth."

Throughout the feeding process, Mi Rui'an did it smoothly and effortlessly, as if taking care of Wei Jiangxue was a matter of course.

Occasionally, a waiter would notice this and try to come over to help, but after receiving a possessive look from Mi Rui'an when she looked up, they wisely chose to back away.

After Wei Jiangxue had almost finished eating, she suddenly remembered the fruit wine she had wanted to try when she ordered: "Mi Rui'an, could you bring me the fruit wine? I forgot to drink it earlier."

The plates on the table had been cleared away, leaving only two glasses of clear fruit wine, which shimmered with a honey-colored glow under the light.

Mi Rui'an's eyes flickered as she stared at Wei Jiangxue's face: "Although it's fruit wine, this restaurant's special brewed fruit wine has quite a kick. Are you sure you really want to drink it?"

"I want to drink," Wei Jiangxue insisted, her tone carrying a rare hint of curiosity and probing as she listened to the light clinking of glasses on Mi Ruian's side. She rarely touched alcohol, but perhaps it was the atmosphere, or perhaps she wanted to take the opportunity to ease the subtle embarrassment from feeding her earlier.

Mi Rui'an paused, her fingers gripping the wine glass, and looked up at the person opposite her. Wei Jiangxue's blind eyes happened to be looking in her direction, her face still flushed.

The words of refusal circled on the tip of her tongue, ultimately turning into a barely audible sigh.

Why is she acting so pitiful? It's as if Mi Rui'an would become a sinner if she didn't agree to Wei Jiangxue's request.

It's just one cup, it should be fine, right?

Mi Rui'an thought for a moment, then reached out and handed a wine glass to Wei Jiangxue.

Wei Jiangxue carefully picked up the wine glass, the icy touch making her flinch slightly.

She lowered her head, sniffed, and the sweet fruity aroma mixed with a hint of alcohol filled her nostrils. She tentatively took a small sip, and the sweet taste melted in her mouth, like fruit juice, with almost no alcohol flavor.

"So sweet." As if she had discovered something new and interesting, she lowered her head and took another big gulp.

Mi Rui'an watched her movements and was about to tell her to slow down when she saw Wei Jiangxue sway almost imperceptibly after putting down the cup.

"...Wei Jiangxue?"

Mi Rui'an watched helplessly as she fell backward and slumped into a chair in the restaurant.

"What? She can't even handle one drink?" Mi Rui'an stood up helplessly, walked around the table, and caught Wei Jiangxue before she slid off the chair.

Wei Jiangxue's soft body leaned into her arms without any defense, and her head tilted to the side, resting on Mi Rui'an's shoulder.

His hot breath, carrying the sweet aroma of fruit wine, sprayed all over Milian's neck.

The delicate freesia pheromones, now intensified by the alcohol, seemed to take on a tangible form, clinging to her and giving Mi Rui'an a strange, intoxicating feeling.

"It's just a glass of fruit wine..." Mi Rui'an looked at the person in her arms whose eyes were already glazed over and whose cheeks were flushed, half amused and half helpless.

She tried to straighten Wei Jiangxue, but the drunken man seemed to have found the most comfortable support, instead stretching out his arms and softly wrapping them around her waist, uttering unconscious murmurs: "Ugh... don't move... dizzy..."

Mi Rui'an's body stiffened for a moment. The warmth of the person in her arms emanated through the fabric, and the dependent posture was one of complete trust and vulnerability.

She closed her eyes, called the waiter to settle the bill, and then resignedly adjusted her posture, putting one arm around Wei Jiangxue's shoulder and the other under her knees, and with a little force, lifted her up horizontally.

Wei Jiangxue was lighter than she had imagined.

"What a nuisance," Mi Rui'an muttered under her breath, but her arm around her remained steady as she carefully avoided the tables and chairs and left the restaurant expressionlessly.

A cool night breeze brushed against Wei Jiangxue's face, and she shifted restlessly, snuggling deeper into Mi Rui'an's arms, seeking warmth. The scent of freesia, mingled with the sweet aroma of fruit wine, forcefully invaded Mi Rui'an's breath.

Mi Rui'an looked down at the sleeping face of the person in her arms, who was completely unaware of what was happening. Long eyelashes cast soft shadows under the eyelids.

An unprecedented and unfamiliar tenderness quietly seeped through my defenses.

She hugged her tightly and walked step by step toward their rented room.
