Chapter 1 Landing "If you don't speak, I'll take action."...
It hurts, it hurts so much.
My whole body ached so much that I couldn't move.
Yue Mingxi closed her eyes in pain, cold sweat poured from her forehead, and her face was deathly pale.
However, her strong will prevented her from fainting even if she wanted to.
Yue Mingxi wanted to cry but had no tears. Could it be that even if she died, her consciousness wouldn't be completely gone?
"Is he still alive?"
A clear, youthful voice rang out, reaching Yue Mingxi's ears, which were bleeding profusely.
Yue Mingxi was stunned for a moment, momentarily captivated by the boy's pleasant voice, before a greater fear surged in her heart.
Just a moment ago I was on the verge of tears, but now the tears are streaming down my face.
What a tragic end! How did she end up running into people from this cultivation world again?
The previous Taoist priest she encountered mistook her, who was wearing modern tank tops and shorts, for a demon. With a wave of his hand, he sent this defenseless modern woman to heaven.
She's just landed, and she really doesn't want to go through that again.
Yue Mingxi gritted her teeth and mustered all her strength, trying to open her mouth and discuss it with the boy.
See if there's any room for maneuver, and find a more comfortable way to land.
Then it hurt so much that no matter how hard she tried, no matter how much effort she put in, her lips remained firmly planted.
"If you don't speak, I'll hit you."
The pleasant young voice rang out again, but what he said was anything but pleasant.
"..." Yue Mingxi choked for a moment, then gave up all struggle and effort, and quietly lay on the ground.
Awaiting my journey to heaven.
The green mountains drew ever closer, while the moonlit stream lay serenely like an old monk in meditation.
However, the familiar feeling of being suspended in mid-air did not occur; instead, the herbal scent surrounding us became even stronger.
A faint scent of herbs and wood, a subtle hint of medicinal bitterness, and a refreshing aroma waft over you.
It smelled so addictive that it made her feel half of the pain in her body disappear. Yue Mingxi couldn't help but sniff it again and again.
The cold fingers reached towards her neck, then withdrew in a second.
Wu Shanqing groped and tapped Yue Mingxi's arm with his index finger, then withdrew his hand and paused for a moment.
Then, he moved his index finger down and extended his thumb, tentatively pinching Yue Mingxi's fingers with both fingers before separating them.
Whether it was a misperception or not, Yue Mingxi heard the boy let out a very soft sigh of relief.
With his thumb bent, Wu Shanqing's index finger traced along the back of Yue Mingxi's hand, down her arm, and all the way to Yue Mingxi's shoulder.
Suddenly, Wu Shanqing stood up and left without looking back.
Yue Mingxi was full of questions. What did this mean?
Does that mean she doesn't need to ascend to heaven?
Listening to his footsteps gradually fading away, Yue Mingxi suddenly felt a pang of regret; the pleasant scent of herbs was getting further and further away from her.
He tried opening his eyes again, but there was still no reaction.
Yue Mingxi did not give up and kept trying her best to lift her eyelids.
After an unknown amount of time, Yue Mingxi finally managed to get sleepy.
Just as she was drifting off to sleep, the pleasant scent of herbs drew near to her once again.
Strangely, Yue Mingxi did not feel scared this time.
Perhaps it was because the herbal scent emanating from the boy was so reassuring.
In a daze, Yue Mingxi felt herself being tightly wrapped in a blanket several times.
The blanket was soft and had a faint scent of herbs and soap.
Then, the familiar feeling of being airborne came over me.
Yue Mingxi shuddered violently, and her drowsiness vanished. Her body suddenly unleashed tremendous power.
He used both his hands and feet, kicking wildly.
Wu Shanqing frowned slightly, feeling as if he were holding a lively, wriggling fish.
To prevent her from kicking him off, Wu Shanqing sighed softly and increased the pressure on his hands.
Despite her haphazard kicking, Wu Shanqing kept moving.
Gradually, the fish stopped kicking in his arms, and Wu Shanqing stopped walking and probed her neck with two fingers.
Relieved, Wu Shanqing continued walking forward.
As the sun set, fiery clouds enveloped half the mountain. Apart from the boy's footsteps and the occasional clatter of tables and chairs, there was no other sound in the courtyard.
He gently placed her on the bed and fumbled for a pillow to put under her head.
After closing the door, Wu Shanqing slowly walked out.
With a small basket slung over her shoulder, Wu Shanqing opened the backyard fence gate and squatted down to pick the herbs she had planted.
Wushanqing stopped picking until she had filled an entire basket.
After lifting the basket to feel its weight, Wu Shanqing stood up and cast a spell.
Ten minutes later, an elderly man with white hair rushed over on his sword in a great hurry.
He lost his balance while sheathing his sword and fell to the ground with a thud.
The old man quickly stood up, stroked his beard, and chuckled awkwardly a few times.
"This is truly strange. The Divine Lord's herbs are only sold once every few hundred years. Why has he changed his mind today?"
The old man's eyes widened as he looked at the basket full of precious herbs on the table in the courtyard.
In the past thousand years, he has only bought herbs from the deity three times, each time only ten plants, nine of which he obtained by shamelessly begging.
This time, there was a whole basketful!
The old man's blood was boiling.
"Your Majesty, please tell me your plans. I, Chen, will go through fire and water to fulfill them."
"Buy clothes," Wu Shanqing said casually.
"Huh? Buy clothes?" The old man was stunned and wiped the sweat from his forehead.
A single herb from the deity is priceless; this entire basket of clothes—does such precious clothing really exist in the world?
Wu Shanqing nodded, "Buy clothes for a seventeen-year-old girl."
The old man exclaimed in surprise, "Is the deity referring to the kind of clothes sold in the market?"
“Yes,” Wu Shanqing said, frowning. “If you don’t want to buy it, I’ll find someone else.”
"No, no, no," the old man said, his heart pounding with fear. "Don't ask anyone else, I'll buy it."
The old man's hands trembled as he picked up the basket and held it protectively to his chest. "Besides clothes, does Your Excellency need anything else?"
Wu Shanqing hesitated for a moment before saying, "Bring some other things that women usually use, and deliver them within half an hour."
-
The next day, at the crack of dawn.
Yue Mingxi slowly opened her eyes, staring blankly at the completely unfamiliar room for a moment.
I shook my head from side to side, and yesterday's memories gradually surfaced in my mind.
Yue Mingxi let out a wail. She only had six months to live, and now she'd somehow caught up with the trend of time travel.
However, the thought of not having to get up early and stay up late to study for her senior year of high school made Yue Mingxi very happy.
As Yue Mingxi stretched out her arms to get up, she was tripped by the blanket and fell back down.
Looking down at the blanket that had wrapped her up like a cicada pupa, yesterday's memories came crashing back.
She tilted her head and looked at the blanket; it seemed she owed the boy an apology.
Yesterday, she was delirious and thought the boy was going to take her to heaven. She started punching and kicking him in his arms, showing off her skills, and eventually she fainted.
Go apologize to him right now!
After making a happy decision in her heart, Yue Mingxi rolled around on the bed a few times and easily broke free of the blanket.
Suddenly, Yue Mingxi froze.
She sat up abruptly, and Yue Mingxi raised her arms and legs in shock.
Apart from the back pain that had plagued her for five or six years, all other parts of her body no longer hurt.
She treated that person so badly yesterday, and they actually healed her injuries. What a kind person!
Yue Mingxi thought to herself, swinging her arms happily and excitedly.
She owes the boy not only an apology, but also a thank you.
She quickly got off the bed, and only when her feet touched the ground did Yue Mingxi realize that she hadn't taken off her shoes.
I looked down at myself: tank tops and shorts, canvas shoes and socks, and a blanket wrapped around myself like a cocoon—exactly the same as yesterday, without the slightest change.
Scratching her head, Yue Mingxi began to think about the first thing she had done since transmigrating.
Her clothes were covered in blood and sweat, and she had no money. Where could she get a clean change of clothes?
Are you going to pick up other people's unwanted clothes outside?
The moment that thought crossed her mind, Yue Mingxi shook her head violently and sent it flying.
She didn't want to be ascended to heaven as a demon again; once she experienced it, she never wanted to experience it a second time.
Shaking her head, Yue Mingxi decided not to worry about the clothes for now. She was lucky enough to have survived in another world, so she shouldn't think too much about it.
Besides, she has more important things to do now.
Turning around, Yue Mingxi pulled off the sheets from the boy's bed, peeled off the only pillow, and stuffed it, along with the blanket, into her arms.
He slept on someone's bed all night wearing his shoes, covered in blood and sweat.
She has to wash them all.
With a creaking sound, Yue Mingxi gently opened the wooden door.
The wooden door was old and rotten at the edges. Even though Yue Mingxi was being extra careful, the sound it made still startled her.
She patted herself, exhaled a small breath, and peeked out with half her head out, looking around.
There was no one in sight.
Is it outside, not inside the house?
Yue Mingxi carefully closed the door and moved along the wall towards the middle door.
With her fingers gripping the door frame, Yue Mingxi peeked out with half her head showing, her eyes gradually widening.
She thought the house was already dilapidated enough, but the outside was even more eye-opening.
The entire courtyard was exceptionally simple, with a small kitchen, a dilapidated fence, a broken gate, a crooked dead tree, a small wooden table under the tree, and a small wooden chair under the table.
With a creak, the kitchen door opened from the inside out.
Following the sound, Yuemingxi looked over.
Her slender, fair fingers clung to the doorframe. She wore a blue robe, her long, black hair tied up with a wooden hairpin, and a white veil covered her eyes. Her face was delicate and pretty.
Noticing Yue Mingxi's gaze, Wu Shanqing didn't look at her, but simply asked, "Awake?"
A gust of wind swept by, and the white veil behind the boy's forehead fluttered in the wind.
Yue Mingxi clutched the bed sheet and blanket in her arms, her heart pounding.
Just a moment ago, I thought this courtyard was drab and dull, but with his appearance, it instantly transformed into a sophisticated ink painting.
She had lived for seventeen years and had never seen such a beautiful person.
Feeling inexplicably nervous, Yue Mingxi swallowed nervously and nodded.
After nodding, Yue Mingxi realized something was wrong. The boy seemed to have an eye ailment. Biting her tongue, Yue Mingxi replied, "He's awake."
Wu Shanqing grunted, "You woke up too early."
Yue Mingxi tilted her head and looked at him in confusion.
"Come inside and wait for me."
"Okay, okay," Yue Mingxi replied obediently.
Watching Wu Shanqing's figure slowly walk away, Yue Mingxi looked down at the brick floor of the house she was standing on.
A hint of sadness flashed across his face; it turned out the boy really did suffer from an eye disease.
She looks to be about the same age as her.
About fifteen minutes later, Wushanqing returned.
With several pieces of clothing hanging from her left arm and two embroidered shoes in her right hand, Wu Shanqing slowly walked towards the small house.
Yue Mingxi stared straight at him.
It wasn't that I was after the clothes, but rather that those two embroidered shoes were too dazzling.
One was a bright red, embroidered with large patches of peony flowers, and adorned with sparkling pearls.
One is a refreshing green, embroidered with a few lotus petals, with a blue and pink butterfly hanging in front.
Both embroidered shoes were very beautiful and exquisitely crafted, but when placed together, they looked very out of place.
Moreover, Yue Mingxi scratched her head, and the more she looked at it, the more she felt that both embroidered shoes were worn on the same foot.
Wu Shanqing walked to the door, sensed her breathing, and frowned.
Why didn't you close the door?
Yue Mingxi blinked, puzzled, and asked, "Why do we need to close the door?"
Wu Shanqing turned his face away and sighed, "How can you be so clueless about human affairs?"
Full of questions, Yue Mingxi blankly uttered an "Ah".
Wu Shanqing shook his head helplessly, "Stretch out your hand."
"Oh, okay." Yue Mingxi hurriedly tucked the sheets, blankets, and pillowcases under her arms and stretched out her hands.
He handed her the embroidered shoes, then placed the clothes on top. "Make do with these."
"Th...thank you." Yue Mingxi stammered excitedly, "You're such a kind person."
"You're welcome," Wu Shanqing turned around and instructed, "Come find me after you've put on your clothes."
"Okay, okay." Yue Mingxi nodded frantically, her doubts growing stronger, feeling that something was not quite right.
After taking a few steps forward, Wu Shanqing paused, and finally couldn't help but say softly, "You've grown up now, it's time to learn how to dress yourself."
