Chapter 11 Childish "Who wants your lousy gift?"...

Chapter 11 Childish "Who wants your lousy gift?"...

Standing on her flying sword, Yue Mingxi watched as the courtyard drew closer and closer to them.

Blinking, Yue Mingxi carefully helped Mei Zi up and asked happily, "How much longer until we get home?"

Wu Shanqing ignored her and casually maneuvered his sword through the air.

It suddenly soars into the air one moment and then plummets down the next, like a roller coaster.

Yue Mingxi shook her leg and said angrily, "Wu Shanqing, are you doing this on purpose?"

Wu Shanqing curled the corners of her lips and said indifferently, "What? The wind is too strong, I can't hear you."

Yue Mingxi shouted loudly, "I said, are you doing this on purpose?"

"Hmm?" Wu Shanqing slowed down, letting the sword move slowly through the air, and tilted his head to ask her, "What did you just say? I really didn't hear you."

Taking a breath, Yue Mingxi was about to open her mouth to reply to him.

The next second, the slow-moving sword suddenly shot forward again.

Yue Mingxi: "..."

This guy definitely did it on purpose.

Turning her face away, Yue Mingxi decided to ignore him.

After a while, the sword slowed down again. Wu Shanqing asked in confusion, "Why aren't you saying anything?"

Yue Mingxi snorted, "I have nothing to say to childish people."

Wu Shanqing frowned. "You're the childish one. I'm much older than you."

Yue Mingxi looked at him speechlessly, "You're eighteen, so you're only a year older than me."

After pursing his lips, Wu Shanqing said after a long while, "That's still older than you. You're the childish one."

Yue Mingxi couldn't hold back any longer and burst into laughter. "Wu Shanqing, are you an idiot?"

Wu Shanqing frowned. "You're the idiot, you're the moron."

Yue Mingxi laughed until her stomach hurt, "Wu Shanqing, how can you be so cute?"

“I’m not cute,” Wu Shanqing said coldly.

Seeing him say those words with a blank, cold expression, Yue Mingxi blinked.

"You're even cuter like this."

"?"

Wu Shanqing was filled with questions.

Turning his head, Wu Shanqing sneered, "I'm not cute, you idiot, I'm ignoring you."

He originally wanted to add, "You're the cutest," but learning from his previous experience, Wu Shanqing pursed his lips and obediently shut up; he simply couldn't win an argument with her.

Yue Mingxi burst into laughter behind her, tears streaming down her face. "Wu Shanqing, you're so cute!"

Wu Shanqing's forehead veins throbbed incessantly. "Shut up, or I'll throw you down."

"Oh." Yue Mingxi fell silent instantly, then laughed even louder.

Wu Shanqing was completely speechless.

With a cold expression, Wu Shanqing rode his sword, deciding to ignore her for the rest of the journey.

They increased their speed on their swords, and in just a few dozen seconds, they landed in the center of the courtyard.

"We've arrived," Wu Shanqing said coldly, sheathing his sword.

The next moment, he flew to the rooftop and leisurely lay down on the recliner that Yue Mingxi had bought for him.

The recliner swayed gently at his feet, making a soft creaking sound.

No one knows what magic he used, but the deck chair was firmly fixed to the sloping roof and would not fall over at all.

Yue Mingxi gently exhaled and gently placed Mei Zishi, whom she was supporting, on the ground.

He called out to Wu Shanqing on the roof, "Wu Shanqing, can I borrow your herbs for healing? I'll return them to you."

Wu Shanqing rocked back in his recliner and replied casually, "Thirty gold ingots for one plant."

Yue Mingxi exclaimed in surprise, "Are you robbing me? It's so expensive!"

Wu Shanqing sneered, "Aren't you a princess of the current dynasty? Can't you even afford this little bit of money?"

Yue Mingxi blushed and whispered, "That was because it was an emergency. I didn't mean to impersonate someone."

After a pause, Yue Mingxi blushed and shouted at him, "Why are you eavesdropping on me?"

“I wasn’t eavesdropping,” Wu Shanqing said slowly and deliberately. “I was listening openly and honestly.”

Yue Mingxi snorted, "Hurry up and come down to pick some herbs, I'll give you a gold ingot, hurry up, or the person will really die."

"Oh." Wu Shanqing sat up from the recliner and floated down in front of her.

"How many plants do you need?" Yue Mingxi asked, looking up at him.

“One plant,” Wu Shanqing said calmly.

Yue Mingxi nodded and urged him anxiously, "I'll count them for you first, then you go and pick the herbs."

"No rush, you won't die," Wu Shanqing said expressionlessly.

"Are you really alright?" Yue Mingxi turned to look at the boy covered in blood.

"It won't die even if you leave it out for another night."

"I see." Yue Mingxi breathed a sigh of relief and began taking out gold ingots from her storage pouch.

She took it with unusual generosity, without any remorse, as it was simply returning it to its rightful owner.

When she counted to the twenty-seventh, Yue Mingxi fell silent; she had run out of gold ingots.

“Silver ingots are fine too,” Wu Shanqing reminded her.

Mingxi knew that one gold ingot was equal to ten silver ingots, but she didn't have enough silver ingots; she only had twenty-three left.

Blinking her eyes, Yue Mingxi took out all the silver ingots and looked pitifully at Wu Shanqing, "This is all I have."

“Okay, you still owe me seven.” Wu Shanqing nodded.

Yue Mingxi whispered, "We've known each other for so long, can't you give me a discount?"

Wu Shanqing scoffed, "What other kind of discount do you want?"

Yue Mingxi's eyes widened. "So, you're saying I'm taking advantage of you?"

Wu Shanqing was puzzled. "Otherwise?"

Yue Mingxi: "..."

"When will you pay me back?" Wu Shanqing asked her, a slight smile playing on his lips.

"You won't let me go out, how am I supposed to pay back?" Yue Mingxi said dejectedly.

"You think you can pay me back once you leave the house?" Wu Shanqing replied dismissively.

“Yes,” Yue Mingxi blinked, “I still have a bundle of hairpins, jade bracelets and earrings that you gave me. I’ll go to the market to sell them and get money for you.”

"How do you plan to sell it?" Wu Shanqing asked the idiot curiously.

Yue Mingxi scratched her head: "Those hairpins, jade bracelets and earrings are quite pretty. Let's make one silver ingot for each of them. I just don't know if anyone will buy them if they're priced so high."

Wu Shanqing smirked, "You're completely hopeless."

I knew she didn't know how to appreciate things, but I never imagined she was so clueless. All those priceless ornaments were worth only a silver ingot in her hands.

They're actually worried about not being able to sell them? That's incredibly stupid.

Yue Mingxi glared at him, "What do you mean? Then tell me how much it costs?"

Wu Shanqing laughed at the absurdity, "Sell you my ass."

Yue Mingxi was stunned. This was the first time she had ever seen Wu Shanqing smile, other than a cold laugh. It was like a gentle spring breeze.

It's truly unbelievable that Wu Shanqing, with such a venomous tongue, could produce such a beautiful smile.

Staring blankly up at Wushan Qing, Yue Mingxi was mesmerized.

The smile vanished in an instant, and Wu Shanqing got up to go to the backyard to pick herbs.

Yue Mingxi followed him, and after regaining her senses, whispered, "Are those ornaments very expensive?"

Wu Shanqing said in surprise, "How could that be? They're just some unwanted trinkets. I just thought you were selling them for too high a price."

Yue Mingxi scratched her head. "Then why did you say, 'Selling you a big head ghost'?"

“What I mean is that you’d be worth more if you sold your own head,” Wu Shanqing said matter-of-factly. “After all, you’re too smart.”

Yue Mingxi's face turned green with anger. Taking advantage of the fact that he couldn't see, she clenched her fists and punched him in the air several times in the back.

Wu Shanqing's mouth is getting more and more venomous and sarcastic.

She was now 100% certain that the jewelry was very valuable, and to avoid regretting it later, Yue Mingxi decided not to sell it.

Moreover, strictly speaking, those ornaments didn't belong to her; they belonged to Wu Shanqing.

Since Wu Shanqing gave her something so expensive, unless she's desperate, she shouldn't sell it at a low price; it's not right to waste someone's good intentions like that.

-

By holding Mei Zi's chin in her hand, Yue Mingxi exerted tremendous effort to force the herbal medicine brewed by Wu Shanqing into his mouth.

With a sigh of relief, Yue Mingxi gently placed Mei Zishi on the ground.

After washing the bowl clean at the well, Yuemingxi took out a pen and drew a small plum blossom on the bowl, which served as the medicine bowl for Meizi when she was a child.

The bowls in their house are all labeled; Yue Mingxi specially bought them at the market.

The stack of bowls, bearing the green mountain pattern, belonged to Wushanqing, though he had hardly ever used them.

One stack of bowls with moon patterns belongs to Yuemingxi, while another stack of bowls without any patterns is for entertaining guests.

A small white cloud was drawn on Chen Wanbai's bowl by Yue Mingxi, but Chen Wanbai had only eaten at their house once, when Wu Shanqing was not there.

When Wu Shanqing was around, no matter how much Yue Mingxi tried to persuade her to stay, Chen Wanbai would run away at top speed.

After the delicate plum blossom painting was finished, Yue Mingxi was stunned for a moment.

She suddenly thought of her childhood kitten, whose paws were also plum blossom shaped, and it was very cute when it stepped on the snow.

Unfortunately, the kitten only stayed with her for one winter.

She could no longer find the kitten's footprints in the snow.

Speaking of which, Mei Zishi's eyes are like her kitten's—round eyes with large, bright black pupils.

Taking a deep breath, Yue Mingxi put down her bowl, stood up, moved a ladder, and climbed onto the roof.

Wu Shanqing loves lying on the roof; you have to crane your neck to talk to him from the ground.

For convenience, Yue Mingxi specially bought this ladder at the market.

The roof wasn't high, so Yue Mingxi wasn't afraid at all; she was only afraid of heights above fifty meters.

She nimbly climbed onto the roof and began to tug at Wu Shanqing's sleeve, repeating her old trick.

Shaking Wu Shanqing's sleeves up and down, Yue Mingxi whispered, "Wu Shanqing, the best Wu Shanqing, please let me go out. I will protect myself."

"No." Wu Shanqing coldly pulled his sleeve back.

Yue Mingxi regained control of the sleeve, which swayed gently between the two of them.

"Really, I'll take good care of myself. Please let me go out, otherwise what will I do about the assessment meeting in a week?"

Wu Shanqing pulled his sleeve back. "I'll go with you then."

Yue Mingxi asked in surprise, "You're going to come with me? The assessment competition will last for a month. Are you going to come with me every day?"

Wu Shanqing gave a faint "hmm".

Yue Mingxi asked curiously, "Why have you suddenly become so nice?"

"You're overthinking it," Wu Shanqing said expressionlessly. "I just want to see you make a fool of yourself."

Yue Mingxi: "..."

glaring angrily at Wu Shanqing, Yue Mingxi said, "Your mouth is beyond saving."

"Oh." Wu Shanqing remained unmoved.

Clenching her fists, Yue Mingxi threw a few more punches at him in the air, secretly trying to vent her anger.

During the argument, Mei Zi, who was lying on the ground below, reacted and struggled.

Yue Mingxi dared not go down, so she observed Mei Zi's condition from the rooftop. Her eyesight was excellent, and she could see for miles without difficulty, so she could see very clearly from the rooftop.

Seeing Mei Zishi's pained expression with her brows furrowed, Yue Mingxi turned to Wu Shanqing and asked, "Is he about to wake up?"

"Not that fast," Wu Shanqing said calmly.

Yue Mingxi said "Oh," and then asked, "Where does he sleep at night? Does he sleep on the floor?"

"Otherwise what?" Wu Shanqing retorted.

"At least move it inside the house," Yue Mingxi said, scratching her head.

“No.” Wu Shanqing coldly refused.

"Okay, then I'll prepare a blanket for him tonight."

After saying that, Yue Mingxi took out the sixth assessment book from her storage bag and began to recite it quietly.

"Can't you go down and carry it? Why do you have to bother me like this?" Wu Shanqing frowned.

The opportunity had arrived. Yue Mingxi tilted her head back, her eyes sparkling.

"Could you let me go out before the assessment meeting? If you let me go out, I won't bother you."

Wu Shanqing asked in confusion, "You have no money left, so what is there for you to do when you go out?"

“Even if I don’t have money, I can still wander around in the mountains and forests. Staying at home is so boring, okay?” Yue Mingxi shook his sleeves up and down.

Wu Shanqing sighed softly, gave up struggling, and let her play with his sleeve.

"Then I can only go out when I'm at home."

"Yay!" Yue Mingxi beamed. "Wu Shanqing, you're so kind! I'm going to give you a super big and super nice gift."

Wu Shanqing coldly asked, "Can we go down now?"

"Go down right now." Having achieved her goal, Yue Mingxi smiled broadly, quickly put away her book, and walked towards the ladder.

As she climbed the ladder, Yue Mingxi looked up at him and said happily, "I bet you'll really, really like it."

Hearing the sound of her bouncing steadily to the ground, Wu Shanqing regained his composure and muttered under his breath, "Who cares about your lousy gift?"
