Chapter 18 Friend: "You didn't choose me right away."...

In the imperial kitchen, Yue Mingxi stood in front of the cutting board, slicing pork belly.

She planned to make Wu Shanqing a simple bowl of shredded pork noodles first, to fill his stomach, before making him anything else.

Wu Shanqing's words in the palace echoed in Yue Mingxi's mind, lingering for a long time.

It's so unexpected that this guy would say something so heartwarming.

After shaking her head and chuckling for a moment, Yue Mingxi put the chopped meat into a plate.

Shangguan Yaotai sat to the side, watching Yue Mingxi's actions with curiosity.

She was personally selected by Wu Shanqing to accompany Yue Mingxi.

Although the deity did not say it explicitly, Shangguan Yaotai immediately understood what the deity meant.

A smile played on her lips. Shangguan Yaotai never imagined that the arrogant and aloof deity was so protective of his own.

Even though he had used a high-level invisibility spell on the girl, he still couldn't rest easy leaving her for even a short while.

All the staff in the imperial kitchen were dismissed, leaving only Yue Mingxi and Shangguan Yaotai in the large room.

Zuo Zhixuan was sent by the God to report this matter to the current emperor.

With a deep sigh, Shangguan Yaotai felt a pang of pain in her heart; their Meizu clan was definitely going to be severely punished.

Yue Mingxi turned to look at her, blinked, and asked, "What's wrong, Sister Shangguan?"

"It's nothing, it's nothing, hahaha," Shangguan Yaotai laughed. "You keep cutting, I just miss my bed partner."

She took out a tomato and started cutting it. Yue Mingxi smiled and comforted her, "Sister Shangguan, just hang in there a little longer. Wu Shanqing should be here soon."

Shangguan Yaotai shook her head, "Now that Lord Wu has arrived, I can't leave for a while."

This matter is far too significant; the demon race must handle it properly.

"Alright, let's not talk about this anymore," Shangguan Yaotai winked at her and asked curiously, "Xiaoxi, how far have things progressed between you and Lord Wu?"

Yue Mingxi was stunned for a moment, then realized that the kitchen knife had almost cut her hand.

Blushing, Yue Mingxi waved her hands repeatedly, "Sister Shangguan, you've misunderstood. We're just friends."

"Friends?" Shangguan Yaotai raised an eyebrow, surprised. "You two are just friends?"

“Yes.” Yue Mingxi nodded, looking serious. “Besides, I’m the one who considers him a friend. I don’t know if I count as his friend.”

"I'm sorry, Xiaoxi," Shangguan Yaotai patted her mouth, "Look at my mouth, ignore me, ignore me."

After saying that, Shangguan Yaotai whispered a plea to her, "Xiaoxi, please don't tell Lord Wu."

"Too late," Wu Shanqing's cold voice rang out, "I've already heard it."

Seeing Wushanqing appear out of thin air, Yue Mingxi and Shangguan Yaotai were both stunned.

Suddenly, Shangguan Yaotai stood up, instinctively wanting to run away.

Wu Shanqing cast a spell to freeze her, saying, "Shangguan Yaotai, this is the second time. If I find out you've corrupted Yue Mingxi again, you'll lose your tongue."

Shangguan Yaotai was on the verge of tears, and weakly retorted, "Lord Wu, Xiaoxi admitted herself that I would not lead her astray during that time in the palace."

After saying that, Shangguan Yaotai looked at Yue Mingxi and silently mouthed, "Xiaoxi, save me."

“Yes, yes.” Yue Mingxi agreed and immediately put down the kitchen knife. “Sister Shangguan won’t lead me astray. Wu Shanqing, please let her go.”

"Really?" Wu Shanqing lowered his head and looked down at Yue Mingxi.

“Really, really,” Yue Mingxi nodded frantically, coaxing, “Please let go of Sister Shangguan, I’ll make you something delicious.”

"Oh," Wu Shanqing said softly.

As soon as the spell was lifted, Shangguan Yaotai said timidly in a low voice, "I'm going to guard the princess."

After saying that, he ran away in a flash.

Yue Mingxi brought a chair for Wu Shanqing and asked him to sit down.

He looked down at the top of Wu Shanqing's head and the exposed high bridge of his nose.

Yue Mingxi laughed and said, "I'm not a child. I have my own judgment and I won't be easily led astray. You don't need to be so alarmed."

Wu Shanqing frowned. "You're not an adult yet; you can't accept these things."

Wu Shanqing always manages to unexpectedly charm her.

"What are you laughing at?" Wu Shanqing's eyebrows furrowed even deeper. "I didn't say anything wrong."

“No, no,” Yue Mingxi wiped away the tears of laughter from the corners of her eyes, “You’re absolutely right, you’re not wrong at all.”

"Then why are you laughing?" Wu Shanqing sneered.

"Hahahaha, I'm not laughing anymore!" Yue Mingxi couldn't help but laugh as she spoke.

Wu Shanqing: "..."

"I'm ignoring you." Wu Shanqing stood up angrily, not even bothering to sit down in her chair.

“I’m not laughing anymore,” Yue Mingxi said with difficulty, pressing Wu Shanqing down. “You sit here quietly, and I really won’t laugh anymore.”

"Oh." Wu Shanqing was pushed back by her, and warned her, "You must keep your word."

"Definitely," Yue Mingxi said earnestly.

After a pause, Yue Mingxi added, "I'll go outside and see if it's still raining. Wait here for me."

She ran outside with a thud, and Yue Mingxi couldn't help but laugh again, leaning against a pillar.

How exactly did Wu Shanqing manage to say so many adorable but wicked things while keeping a cold face?

Sitting in the chair, Wu Shanqing, whose hearing was exceptionally good, said: "..."

He would never believe her lies again.

After a long while, Yue Mingxi finally calmed down and went into the imperial kitchen.

Walking up to Wu Shanqing, Yue Mingxi coughed to suppress a laugh, "It's stopped raining outside."

Wu Shanqing sighed softly, "If you want to laugh, then laugh. Don't make yourself sick by holding it in. But what exactly are you laughing at?"

"Hahahaha, I just wanted to laugh," Yue Mingxi said, her eyes crinkling.

She remembered that Wu Shanqing didn't like people saying he was cute.

Holding the cleaver again, Yue Mingxi chopped the green beans and said to him, "Just wait a little longer, and we can have delicious shredded pork noodles."

"Okay," Wu Shanqing replied softly.

With a gentle clench of his hand in the air, Wu Shanqing took out three Rejuvenating Grasses and placed them on the table beside him.

Sensing her, he said, "I brought you the Rejuvenating Grass."

"Wow," Yue Mingxi said happily, "Thank you, Wu Shanqing."

"No need to thank me," Wu Shanqing said calmly. "It's just a matter of each person having what they need."

"Then I should thank you properly," Yue Mingxi said with a smile. "I only just realized that your herbs are priceless, and you've been the one who's been losing out."

He pursed his lips and replied, "I didn't suffer any loss."

"Oh, right," Yue Mingxi put the green beans into the plate, turned to him and asked, "What else would you like to eat?"

Wu Shanqing shook his head. "A plain surface is enough."

“That won’t do,” Yue Mingxi said with a smile. “The shredded pork noodles are just to fill your stomach first. I still need to make you something else.”

“Troublesome,” Wu Shanqing said indifferently, “This one is enough.”

“It’s no trouble at all,” Yue Mingxi said with a smile. Then, she bent down and peered at Wu Shanqing sitting in the chair.

With a smile, she said, "Wu Shanqing, are you worried about tiring me out?"

Wu Shanqing choked for a moment, then coldly replied, "Why don't you go and take care of your little princess?"

"I'll go after I finish cooking for you," Yue Mingxi said with a smile. "The Demon King has healed Shi Zhi's injuries. He told me that Shi Zhi won't wake up until at least noon tomorrow, so there's no rush."

"Oh." Wu Shanqing turned her face away and snorted coldly, "So that's how it is. No wonder you were concerned about me first."

Yue Mingxi paused for a moment, "Wu Shanqing, what's wrong?"

They were fine just a moment ago, why are they suddenly being sarcastic again?

"It's nothing." Wu Shanqing forced a smile. "You go about your business."

Yue Mingxi picked up his sleeve and shook it up and down. "What's wrong? Why are you angry?"

"I'm not angry." Wu Shanqing slowly pulled his sleeve back.

Amused by this childish girl, Yue Mingxi coaxed, "You and Shi Zhi are both my good friends. There's no question of favoring one over the other."

“You knew me before she did,” Wu Shanqing said coldly.

"Okay, okay." Yue Mingxi suppressed a smile. "You are my best, best friend, number one friend, no one can compare."

Wu Shanqing snorted, "Who said you're my friend? You're just being presumptuous."

“Wu Shanqing,” Yue Mingxi shook his sleeve, deliberately misinterpreting his meaning, and coaxed him.

Wu Shanqing pulled his sleeve back again. "Idiot, what I mean is, you're not my friend."

“But you are my best friend.” Yue Mingxi smiled and said earnestly, looking down at him.

Wu Shanqing was stunned for a moment, and then said coldly, "But just now in the dungeon, you didn't choose me immediately."

So she's still angry about that time? How adorable!

With a slight upturn of her lips, Yue Mingxi secretly suppressed a laugh, tugged at his sleeve, and spoke softly.

"I'm sorry, I was wrong. Please forgive me this time."

"It's too late, you're not my friend anymore."

Wu Shanqing said coldly, but this time he didn't pull on her sleeve anymore, letting Yue Mingxi sway.

"We're friends, okay?" Yue Mingxi smiled and continued to coax this childish girl.

"Then why didn't you choose me?" Wu Shanqing asked, looking up.

"Okay." Wu Shanqing reluctantly accepted her answer.

After a pause, Wu Shanqing pursed her lips and said, "You can barely be considered my friend, but you're not my best friend. You're number one in the bottom of the list."

Anyway, she's his only friend, so he can arrange them however he wants.

"Okay, okay." Yue Mingxi smiled.

Finally, she managed to appease the childish girl, and Yue Mingxi breathed a sigh of relief.

After putting down Wu Shanqing's sleeve, Yue Mingxi said happily, "Then I'll continue making noodles."

"Okay." Wu Shanqing nodded and said softly, "Just make noodles, make a lot."

"Okay!" Yue Mingxi said enthusiastically. "I'll make you lots and lots, I'll make sure you're full."

Sensing her busy movements, Wu Shanqing secretly curled the corners of her lips.

Having lived for 18,000 years, he now has friends, and she is still her number one best friend.
