“Ayan.”
Hua Wuyan subconsciously raised his arms, but they ended up resting on her shoulders, gently stroking them a few times in a restrained manner.
He lowered his head: "Ruo Ruo, I miss you so much."
Young love is as intense and direct as the blazing sun.
Meng Danruo blushed deeply and bit her red lips lightly, saying, "Oh."
She was always quiet, gentle, and reserved, but she poured all her enthusiasm into this little lion-like boy.
Her voice was very soft, but Hua Wuyan sensed that she was unhappy, so he immediately lowered his head and leaned closer.
"Ruoruo, what's wrong? Are you unhappy?"
Meng Danruo recalled what someone had told her after class: Hua Changle had fainted during class that morning, and Hua Wuyan had personally taken her to the hospital and stayed with her all afternoon.
She immediately felt uneasy.
It's hard to say what it was; maybe it was surprise, maybe it was resentment, maybe it was jealousy.
Then she couldn't sit still any longer and turned to find Hua Wuyan.
She wanted to ask him if he regretted neglecting Hua Changle because of her? Did he want to reconcile with Hua Changle? Had he forgotten what Hua Changle had done?
But when she got to Hua Wuyan, she felt that they were, after all, siblings for many years, and as an outsider, she had no right to ask.
But she felt aggrieved, so she hesitated to speak, though her face betrayed her sadness.
Hua Wuyan was unusually patient with her. Meng Danruo hesitated for a moment, then gently brushed his hand away and asked:
"How is your sister?"
Hua Wuyan immediately understood why she was unhappy, and immediately lowered his eyes and said in a humble voice:
"I'm sorry, Ruoruo, I broke my promise today. I said I wouldn't talk to her anymore."
Seeing that he immediately admitted his mistake, Meng Danruo's anger dissipated by most, and she smiled nonchalantly:
"It's okay. I know you have a kind heart and you would never let her go. I'm not angry about it. I'm just... nothing."
Her appearance made Hua Wuyan's heart ache even more, and he disregarded everything else, pulling her directly into his arms:
"I'm sorry, Ruoruo, I made you suffer. It's my fault."
"It's alright, it's alright," Meng Danruo gently patted his back.
After a brief moment of tenderness, Hua Wuyan recounted the events of the morning.
Meng Danruo was also taken aback: "Then what about her now?"
"She's alright now," Hua Wuyan said. "As long as she's careful in the future, there's no danger to her life."
Meng Danruo breathed a slight sigh of relief.
She couldn't quite describe how she felt. She truly hated Hua Changle; she hated this person who, like Lu Sheng, had almost ruined her life.
However, she also loved Hua Wuyan.
She knew that if Hua Changle died, perhaps a gap would truly remain between them that could never be healed.
Therefore, she didn't want Hua Changle to die like that.
For her, it was best not to see him on ordinary days; if Hua Changle died in battle without her knowledge, that would be fine, but he couldn't die with her and Hua Wuyan around.
"That's good." Meng Danruo said softly, hugging the boy even tighter.
The two embraced in the afterglow of the setting sun, like a watercolor painting rendered in golden light in late spring.
It's beautiful.
Hua Changle leaned against the window of the ward, quietly watching the two people embracing downstairs.
Zhai He looked at her, who was leaning against the window after recovering from drinking the medicine, and saw that she had a toothache on her face.
He was scared!
What if this young lady goes crazy when she sees that she's being ignored?
However, Hua Changle is currently very engrossed in shipping this couple:
"Tsk tsk tsk, this composition, this atmosphere, it would be a disservice to my eyes not to swoon over it!"
[422: ...]
He thought she was going to be sad! But then she... damn it!
Who would ship their crush with their enemy? That's incredibly audacious!
Seeing this, Hua Changle knew that the two were definitely going to be all lovey-dovey, and he certainly couldn't stay and be a third wheel. What if his future sister-in-law fainted again?
So she turned to Zhai He and said, "Senior, could you please tell Fifth Brother that I'll be going home by myself first?"
As she spoke, she got out of bed to put on her shoes.
Her body felt weak and unsteady, so Zhai He quickly grabbed her arm to help her regain her balance.
Hua Changle naturally thanked him, put on his shoes, picked up his backpack, and was about to leave.
"Hey, wait a minute!" Zhai He couldn't help but call out to her, "That..."
He had originally intended to suggest waiting for Brother Yan, but changed his mind before saying it:
"Let me walk you to the gate; it's quite a distance from here to the school gate."
"Shouldn't someone from your family be here to pick you up?"
"Yes, there is." Hua Changle smiled, and considering her health, she did not refuse.
"Thank you for your help, senior."
Zhai Helian said it was nothing.
The two deliberately exited through another exit.
Just as they left the hospital, Zhai He suddenly reached out his hand to her: "Come here."
"Huh?" Hua Changle was stunned.
What are you doing? Does she want a hug?
She's not lame, is she?
422 couldn't stand it anymore and reminded him.
[Hua Changle, he's going to take you there by plane; he's the one who brought you here.]
"Flying over?!"
Hua Changle's eyes widened: "It can fly?"
Before 422 could answer, Zhai He summoned a pair of pure white wings.
He was backlit, and his wings and face were bathed in a holy light, like an angel descended from heaven.
“…Birdman…”
Hua Changle read it aloud in his mind, lost in thought.
You've ruined so much gentleness~
[She's a white crane! Her superpower is "beast transformation"—a crane form, granting her the flight and some of the abilities of a white crane!]
